This is the one I use. I don't think I paid this much though. Really reliable. I tried a couple others and found that they jam.
PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed Automatic Pet Feeder, Dispenses Dog Food or Cat Food, Digital Clock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VIXRB6O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_URHpCb70FA3DQ
This is the cage I got for mine. It's a little pricey but it's great quality, metal and solid. Also very easy to assemble and clean with the way both doors on each level open up. https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Critter-162-leak-Proof-Measures/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=bmx_i2814f1n_1/138-9088593-0936157?pd_rd_w=ZikYz&pf_rd_p=1f75fbb3-7d95-464f-8182-952155c0316b&pf_rd_r=VXJZYWA78JHW8B6CVGBD&pd_rd_r=fa9b4324-5134-4fec-96c8...
I searched using Amazon, I think this may be close enough for me for $30 bucks, Thanks!
Catit Flower Fountain: 3L Drinking Fountain with Triple-Action Filter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0146QXOB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9WXlBbSBZGBXS
I recommend getting a top-entry litterbox. It not only prevents this from happening, it definitely cuts down on the amount of litter our cat tracks out of the litterbox.
We have one similar to this but it has some more texture on top to help get the litter off their feet before they jump down.
If you still have trouble with pulling on walks, I highly highly recommend trying a gentle leader if you haven't already! It loops around the dog's snout (it doesn't hurt and isn't a muzzle, they can still open their mouths normally) so that if they pull on the leash, it redirects their head toward you. It's much easier to help your dog learn the limits of the leash if you're controlling their head rather than a harness that goes around the strongest part of their body! The gentle leader + treats method is how I finally got my stubborn pitbull to learn how to walk with a loose leash (thank god)
Have you had a vet check him? Sometimes they avoid the litter box because they associate it with pain. If you're not having success with any other methods you might consider speaking with a vet to see if they can test him for problems.
And if that isn't an issue I highly suggest one of these litter boxes. My cat adapted to it just fine, and I no longer have litter all over the floor..lol.
How about a top entry litter box? Should allow the cat entry but block out your pup? It gives the cat privacy too, haha.
Petmate Top Entry Litter Pan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KVL30NC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_oghBBbHGWRWS0
Not op, but same situation as described.. this is what I have (in the US); Catit Flower Fountain
I got mine at PetCo, if you don’t want to go the Amazon route
I got the Petsafe brand. Super helpful. Ended up pulling up carpets and installing hardwood flooring almost everywhere as one of my hyper fixations. Never used an electric saw before then. Didn't know I had ADHD then either, so it's lucky I didn't lose a finger due to my inattentiveness.
PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Self Cleaning Hooded Cat Litter Box - Ultra, Top-Entry - Purple or Taupe - Covered 2nd Generation - Includes Disposable Tray with Premium Blue Crystal Litter and Hood https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XSC8R2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_0SKRJAQHEAFT3RYWTWKQ
Can confirm, blue crystals are amazing. I have 3 cats and we have 3 covered litter boxes (can be found on amazon for decent price something like this here.
I change the boxes once a month with the crystals and never notice a smell until it starts to get to that one month point. Its really not that bad.
litter here This might be cheaper in your local stores. It goes on sale at target pretty frequently. :)
We have this cage or one very similar: Midwest Deluxe Critter Nation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1RNV3Y1703XVM2TSN8EF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The pans avoid the issues of bumblefoot but we still pad it out with fleece. Our rats chew through the fleece so we end up buying more pretty regularly but it’s plenty of space for our 4 rattos :)
A 2 story critter nation should be plenty. You can officially add a 3rd story no problem if 2 isn't enough. Or connect 2 or more side by side.
A 2 story CN Cage is ~$250.
Edit: Apparently they've gone up a bit ($300) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_6GMW5HA8MRT2V5G6NR41
Hopefully your local shippers aren't trash and kick yours off the back of the truck....
I got an answer for this! I too noticed a while back my cat loved drinking from the sink more than his bowl, and it turns out almost everyone who has a cat has the same issue!
So after some researching it turns out that cats are not fully domesticated (this is why they have such a strong need to hunt) and because of this they don’t drink water the same way dogs do.
A cat won’t want to drink water from a bowl, however if a cat hears running water it’ll kick start their instincts (just like when a cat sees a bird, something inside them clicks) and they’ll want to drink as much water as they can.
Without the sound of running water, a cat will get most of its water from wet food, because they will only drink when they are very thirsty. This is why it’s so common for cats to get kidney and bladder problems.
The best thing you can do is get a fountain for your cat.
There are some on amazon that very affordable, I use the catit water filter. I like it’s design and the way it uses it’s filters. You can also use it without filters, but if you make sure to clean out the water more often. Like once every day or so.
You’ll also have to keep an eye on the fountain, they’ll need to be cleaned often because if it it can get mold.
It’s a little bit more work, but it’s a HUGE difference. My cats drink so much water, it even reduced the stench of their urine.
Please consider doing this for your cat, and spreading the awareness. This alone can make your cat live so much longer and healthier.
It’s a pet drinking fountain! I found something similar on amazon maybe you can check it out,
yup that makes tons of sense i was just to excited to think lol why i posted here. im getting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_13EWV2AKY1KJJF1HACY2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 now
Get a top entry litter box. Solved the litter mess problem as well as keeping my dogs out of it. They're only like 15 bucks on Amazon too. Like this.
Critter Nation. Sturdy, large (especially if you get the double), easy to clean. Got mine second hand for around $80.
Here's a link so you know what it looks like: https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Critter-162-leak-Proof-Measures/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=sr\_1\_2?dchild=1&keywords=critter+nation&qid=1626655904&sr=8-2
Oof that’s frustrating. Especially if you’ve for a sensitive nose (shudder)
Possible good thing to invest in: an automatic kitty litter box. There are some versions that have prepackaged litter trays and others that allow you to add your own litter. The actual unit itself is a smidge pricey though. We were thankfully gifted ours.
This is the one we have (prepackaged litter)
(He still needs to clean it though :)
PetSafe ScoopFree Automatic Self Cleaning Hooded Cat Litter Box - Ultra, Top-Entry - Purple or Taupe - Covered 2nd Generation - Includes Disposable Tray with Premium Blue Crystal Litter and Hood https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XSC8R2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JZVATDMNGQFCXX77SNF6?psc=1
it looks like a critter nation. cant tell if its a single or double, but i bought mine on amazon:
I haven't used that sort of collar previously. I will say I tried a Gentle Leader with my 90lb pit/rottie mix and it was amazing. She pulled pretty bad, and I was having a lot of difficulty training her. With the Gentle Leader it was like night and day. As soon as it went on, she stopped pulling. It is definitely worth the $15.
Here's my dog: http://imgur.com/a/6AowK

Has no one ever heard of a head collar? Best $20 you can spend if you have medium to large dog that pulls on a leash.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00074L4W2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JAd0Bb5JE6THC.
On sale for $10 on Amazon right now.
I also live in a small one bedroom with my boyfriend and we have two cats! We bought two litter boxes, which are this and this
My cats like the top entry one for privacy and I like that it comes with a scoop. The other one (I recommend getting an x-large size) is simple and they use it for pee usually. I clean the litter box once or twice a day (sometimes more, I like scooping out litter after they poo) and I bought a small metal trash can for the litter. In the litter trash can, I line it with multiple trash bags, with each trash bag filled with a small amount of baking soda to help mask the smell. And everyday at night before I go to sleep, I throw out the litter-filled trash bag. Keeping the litter in the trash can for more than one day makes it extremely smelly, and can develop a fly problem.
Overall, there's no bad smell! Just clean after your kitty and you'll be good!
I use this one, works fantastic, feedings are in increments of ~1/8 cup and can schedule whatever with no phone app, on device only
We started with this and it was well liked. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Flower-Fountain-floral-drinking-fountain/dp/B0146QXOB0/ref=sr_1_20?crid=3OZ9UPRBVFLBL&dchild=1&keywords=katzenbrunnen&qid=1627325358&rdc=1&sprefix=Katzen%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-20 We tried a tap type one and it wasn’t well received. Maybe look at this: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Drinking-Fountain-Dispenser-Activated-Whisper-Quiet/dp/B07T23XMKJ/ref=sr_1_23?crid=3OZ9UPRBVFLBL&dchild=1&keywords=katzenbrunnen&qid=1627325358&sprefix=Katzen%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-23
Whatever you decide, make sure you wash the fountain completely and replace the water every few days. It looks clean but when you check the filter etc, the water can be slimey.
u/work_constantly
My work requires me to work unscheduled over-time sometimes. Mine dont go nuts like this but gives me silent treatment. Like if it is depressed and sad.
I bought automatic cat feeder with timer. I programmed the weight and time of feeding. It works with electric also batteries in case power goes out. Happy cat happy me.
Edit: it holds about 2 kgs so i can be easily one week away.
Not exact model but feeder type is same: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Automatic-PetSafe-Programmable-Dispenses-Capacity/dp/B00VIXRB6O/?ie=UTF8&tag=mashableedit-21&ascsubtag=21ff5ff7-8c25-44a8-86bc-c86fe5a66606
Try a water fountain for your cats. We bought one for our cats and they can't spill the water. They also drink a lot more than they used to.
No worries and I appreciate your concern and input! We’re keeping the pets separate, because honestly I’m not emotionally ready for a new dog yet since I had to put my Great Pyrenees (Prince) down in February. This dog is mostly my dads and he’s retired so he’s here most of the day.
The cats and the rats are mine, but the cats pretty much just stay in my room on the opposite side of the house to my dad’s room (where the dog stays.) I have a gate separating the small hallway into my part of the house (two bedrooms and a bathroom,) but I’m going to get one with a cat door soon. We’re also going to crate train the dog so he won’t just be loose when no one is here. My rats are in a Critter Nation in the living room so I’m not worried about them since I would never just put them near the dog outside of the cage.
