Edit: fyi they are not quite as accurate as an actual lab test.
worth noting this is a fertility test, not a sterility test.
A fertility test has a high specificity and low sensitivity - meaning it detects sperm counts over a fairly high threshold
A sterility test has a high sensitivity and low specificity - meaning it detects any and all sperm present (and in some tests this means higher false positive rates)
Edit:
just learned the same company makes a product for post-vasectomy tests. neat!
Pretty sure in the lab they still test for sterility using a microscope, so it's worth having at least one lab test done to be sure, but at least this test is designed for the purpose, I didn't think that was possible. I think it's likely far less sensitive than a microscope test still, but would indicate a total re-canalization.
I would probably do AncestryDNA because the database is so large and its family tree interface is the best. The downside is no chromosome browser, limited tools, the whole subscription thing, doesn't take uploads.
AncestryDNA is on sale, including at Amazon, free shipping plus Prime. An email I received from AncestryDNA said the sale ends Sunday.
I like 23andme, especially its tools, like the chromosome browser and DNA painting, but so few people add surnames and even fewer add trees. It's difficult to make genealogical connections, even with closer matches.
I like FTDNA, too, but again so many don't do trees or surnames, which is strange to me because its reputation is being more oriented to serious genealogists and genetic genealogists. Maybe they're more privacy concerned? I don't know. I am also not a big fan of the family tree interface. YMMV.
Sorry for the loss of your sister. Just to be clear, we are talking about full AASM arousals, not micro arousals. It’s nice that you are trying to help people. However, I think it’s important to understand that this advice could potentially hurt people because it could lead to a false negative for a devastating condition. Much better diagnostic accuracy can be achieved with watchPAT, which is cheap, easy, and clinically validated.
Fulfilling the agreement with my wife, I've used these for years to check my vasectomy every year.
So far, so good.
I also think there was someone who worked with a urologist that used these. You don't want the fertility ones though. You want the vasectomy version.https://www.amazon.com/Spermcheck-Vasectomy-Home-Sperm-FDA-Cleared/dp/B00KTI0JW2
One study I read stated that 57% of children with ADHD actually have a sleep disorder. It makes sense when you think about it. It’s very difficult to concentrate when your brain isn’t getting proper sleep. I like to recommend that people get a watchPAT.
Traditional sleep studies are expensive. However, there are alternative options that are much cheaper with reasonable accuracy. On r/uars, we like to recommend people try the watchPAT.
Quickfix 6.3 works according to numerous posts Ive seen on this subreddit so you just gotta make sure its not an observed test. If you don't wanna do synthetic, you can try certo and see if it works for you. I followed this guide except I doubled up on the certo packets (using 2 packets instead of 1 the night before and the day of) and it worked just fine for me but I had been clean around 6 weeks after basically a lifetime of heavy smoking. The only caveat to this method is you really have to make sure the urine is not too dilute and that it has adequate creatinine. If you use gatorade, multivitamins, and creatine powder (or eat a bunch of steak) then you should be good. I used these test strips to make sure the urine was in the normal range for SG, Cr, and pH. Good luck to you! I really hope you get the job it sounds like a nice gig!
NIPT is your best bet. It screens for trisomies and gender if you want. However, this sounds weird, but there is a decent gender test you can order through Amazon. Apparently it's fairly accurate, especially the further you are past 10 weeks. SneakPeek - Early Gender Prediction DNA Test https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016201HCG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rvDkybJDS3RMW Supposedly you get your money back if it's wrong. NIPT of course is best but this is a decent Plan B.
also randomly just saw this - amazon prime day doing the 23andme genetic test for $99 - i think it went up to $200 or $235 a few years ago so that's a good price for it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G7PYQTM/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_awdo_t2_msezzb7B4W6D3
Are you saying you can't find the on-sale version from the US Amazon? I managed to find it. Link below if that's what you meant and you were interested.
They have these if you can’t get to a doctor quickly. Walgreens often sells them in their stores too.
Perhaps you could find out if you do have an UTI and then get a script via telemedicine if you do.

Here's the one I used. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KTI0JW2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It only rates high or low. I did this a year after a test at a proper medical lab, so I was confident that was right and this test was just to double check.
If you do want the most accurate, the way to do it would be through a urologist/lab. For a cheaper option (depending on your insurance, I suppose), this is a good at-home confirmation if you're worried. I wouldn't recommend this as the only test method though, only as a follow-up to a professional one.
>But how did you ship to cyprus? I tried to buy from amazon instead of the official website but I changed my mind because if you go on their website they say thay if you buy from 3rd party sellers basically they can "cancel" the test because the package could be contaminated, as a lot of people return their packages back to amazon or something amongst those lines.
I got it from Amazon, the seller is Ancestry DNA themselves, and not a 3rd party. The box and everything inside was sealed, so there was no possibility of contamination.

You can buy stool blood tests at your pharmacy or Amazon. But I usually tell by watching a couple of days. stool test (just one example, there are many). They test for any blood in the stool (black or red). If it is on your TP more than the water, it may be hemorrhoids instead
Took me a while to come up clear, so be patient. I follow up with a yearly use of one of these test to just make sure life didn't find a way.
Paranoid maybe, but rather be sure. First year or two I did it ever 6 months. Kit contains two tests.
Sounds like you might be best served by buying a home test. Just make sure you get the version that is intended for post-vasectomy and not to see if you're infertile.
This one has two tests in it. I can't personally vouch for its accuracy, but it seems like a good option.
Just a reminder to take this test afterwards; Hospital tests are fertility checks, not sterility checks, with two different thresholds.
Congratulations.
I recommend you take this test at home afterwards. It's much more precise than what the hospitals usually offer (because they focus on fertility checks, not sterility checks, with two different thresholds). If you read the testimonials, you'll find plenty saying they got their wife pregnant because the hospital test came out negative, while this test showed the truth.
Ah, can’t comment on that one tbh. Can only give a recommendation on this one tbh Spermcheck Vasectomy Home Test Kit | FSA - HSA Eligible https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KTI0JW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SQC7H6HH6MK25AVRTH6B

Ran the documentation past my urologist, and he looked at the research.

His evaluation was a reasonable alternative to a lab test, but a lab test is likely better.
I use these strips. Some people here will go on about what crap keto strips are but IMO they're good enough for what I need. Because I have diabetes, when I fast it's important that I watch for ketoacidosis. The strips let me know when my ketones may be getting too high. Is it super accurate? It's accurate enough. I can also tell, generally speaking, when I am in ketosis or not. I also check my blood glucose level every morning and can tell you that brushing with toothpaste and drinking diet soda don't spike insulin in any way that I measure; in fact, when I fast my glucose level goes down after every day in a 7-day fast. There is a ton of info online about using strips so it would be easy enough for you to read about them and decide if they're for you. Of course, you can find other info about measuring ketones medically.
While there’s no replacement for a colonoscopy, if you can’t convince Doc to give you one I’d probably use this one. There are others that may be comparable too but definitely better to get this than nothing. I'm not using those. I'm using these "Perfect Keto Test Strips":
https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Keto-Ketone-Testing-Strips/dp/B01MUB7BUV
I eat no sugar or bread, avoid foods high in carbs and seed oils, and prioritize protein. Lots of organic free-range chicken, eggs, and grass-fed beef. Avocado oil for cooking.
Pecans, Macadamia, and a few brazil nuts. Occasional strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries with a little yogurt (no added sugar). Beef broth. Some protein bars/keto bars... Broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, etc...

~ 2 months
No idea if I'm ever in ketosis but the test strips seem to indicate that I am not.
I had minor headaches for a while but that's gone. I feel brain fog going away and sleep is a bit harder to come by.
I don't know about in person. Never heard of that. Kit is delivered. Results are by email. https://www.amazon.com/23andMe-DNA-Test-Ancestral-Opt/dp/B01LZ5K87Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2L4OSVWF7CCPR&keywords=23%26me+dna+testing+kit&qid=1643087211&sprefix=23%26%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-3
You could buy your own test.
Usually it is of concern if you have bloody or tar looking stools.
That's actually not true anymore! You can get a blood test within like 7 weeks of being pregnant. If there's a Y chromosome present, you're having a boy. (Doesn't work for non XX women.) Works because there's DNA from the baby in your bloodstream. Here's a link.
There are earlier tests, too. My sister found out she was having a girl before she missed a period. I'd have to ask her which one she used, though, cause google isn't helping me.
Science is cool.
I did something similar (urine strips and blood pressure monitoring) because I was higher risk and it was covid so lots of my apts were virtual. I used these urine strips: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KMS7GKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_97W10ZC5FYFPZ62CCX8C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The urine strips you do at the clinic test for protein, so that’s the main indicator they are looking at urine wise for preeclampsia. It’s not uncommon to have trace protein, but anything else would probably indicate that they would want to do further labs.
For blood pressure cuffs, the most accurate ones are arm ones, not wrist. Obviously, your in person visits and blood pressure readings and urine analyses are the most important, but you can always report any changes you notice to your provider.
