I’m so, so sorry to hear that you’re feeling like you are. It’s heartbreaking and shame on your doctor!
I’ve had Hashimotos pretty much my whole life but only got diagnosed four years ago and only this year have finally gotten proper medication. I too felt like you until I got the right kind of help.
I have a nurse practitioner whose specially trained in thyroid and hormone health and is on the other side of my country. You need to search for the right practitioner and for most it’s a daunting task. But your life depends on it. If you’re in Canada you can PM me and I can share my contact with you.
Izabella Wentz is a pharmacist who has Hashimotos and she struggled too to get help. She’s written a couple of really good books.
Hashimotos: Root Cause
Hashimotos Protocol
You really want to save your thyroid. These two books give hope.
She recommends Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) And Myo-Inositol to help lower antibodies. These two have worked for me.
Other things can cause thyroid issues and antibodies to rise such as:
Mold, Environmental chemicals, household chemicals, body care products, low lying infections, heavy metals, B12 deficiency, anemia and more.
These are outlined in the books and you can order testing through her or she will tell you where to get them.
It sounds a little daunting but doing the research and finding the right help will improve the quality of your life.
All the best!
I've spent much of the last 1/2 century wishing I had the guts to destroy my life.
Please read this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Nutrient-Power-Heal-Biochemistry-Brain-ebook/dp/B00J75IQUA/
IF you mean by "they're all so loud" .. voices, then please try his recommended niacinimide+folate supplementation, to see if it is an overmethylated-DNA problem.
I KNOW his undermethylated-DNA treatment ( enteric-coated SAM-e taken with clear water 40mins before breakfast; or Methionine, which is the "M" in SAM-e, btw ) works, on me. He may have left-out some crucial details ( enteric-coating on the SAM-e, & taken with clear water well before breakfast ), but once those are discovered, & acted-on, it worked. Repeatedly ( 3 months for the SAM-e treatment, 4 months for the Methionine treatment of undermethylated-DNA ).
I also know his pyrrol-disorder treatment works ( when you include the arachidonic-acid-precursor of evening primrose oil, use any kind of zinc except for zinc citrate, which unleashes the PTSD-style flash-RAGES that the treatment is supposed to be removing: it acts too quick, in other words, so creating a chemical-roller-coaster. ) on me.
Since both his undermethylated-DNA treatment & his pyrrol-disorder treatment work, and actually treat the problem, unlike the damn hide the symptoms major-tranquilizers that the psychiatrists had me on, I'm suspecting that his 30,000 patient database, in his research, .. also includes correct information for overmethylated-DNA people.
It is far cheaper to do an honest experiment, & to let the evidence speak its meaning, than it is to continue grinding the same "answer" that never worked, right?
Please dig into his book, & try the experiment.
It has saved lives, & maybe it'll give you leverage you can use in living in your life.
Acute child-onset "schizophrenia" cost me 1/10th of my grain-volume back in the 1970's & 1980's.
Get the book "Nutrient Power", by researcher William J. Walsh
https://www.amazon.com/Nutrient-Power-Heal-Biochemistry-Brain-ebook/dp/B00J75IQUA/
and if the nicotinamide+folate treatment for your "schizophrenia" ( you are describing overmethylated-DNA disorder, .. mine is mixed undermethylated-DNA disorder combined-with pyrrol-disorder. All 3 disorders are called "schizophrenia" by psychiatry, who rejects the easily-replicable experiments of treating these disorders, & seeing the "schizophrenia" condition vanish : they got an entry in "quackwatch", which means the evidence never need be considered , as ad hominem against Walsh "proves" no evidence exists, there ),
.. then your life is yours , instead of neuro-disorder's property.
Read the book, do the experiment & let the results speak their truth, as actual evidence-based knowing dictates.
Salut, Namaste, & Kaizen, Hoomin.

If you're going the supplement route, I have a few more suggestions. First, this book and this blog post from a doctor really helped me understand how vitamin deficiencies were contributing to my issues.
Now, for me personally, adding a vitamin B6 and B12 supplements did noticeably improve my menstrual/hormonal issues. Try to get the most bio-available versions of supplements you can afford. Bio-available means your body absorbs more vitamin compared to other versions. For B6, look for P5P in the ingredients. If that's out of your budget, just get what you can afford because any extra vitamins still help more than none.
Other supplements that have helped my mental health: zinc (look for zinc chelate) and pharmaceutical grade fish oil (look for IFOS certification if you want the super high-grade stuff).
Some other basic advice for getting your health in order. Keep a food journal. See if symptoms improve or get worse after eating certain foods. If you want to be hardcore about it, go on an elimination diet. Also, reevaluate all personal care products to see if they may be contributing. It took me years to discover that I had sensitivity to aloe, and that stuff is in everything now.
Good luck.
Thank you for all the help! I really appreciate this. 🙏
I'm in the process of starting Nutrient Power -- Do you feel it's a good resource?
I think I heard years ago that COMT -/- and VDR taq +/+ was a double whammy combo for low dopamine -- Which I hypothesize for years is a core issue for me.
Do you happen to have any insight or known resources about that?

EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique, to deal with your thoughts and feelings about your condition.
I'm sorry that's you experience. I've been there. I'm so grateful that my current boss is magical and really praises us for our hard work but also our intentional rest and self care. Have you read "Trauma Stewardship" by Laura Van der Noot Lipsky? It was SOOOO impactful for me to read when I was feeling anxious, angry, distracted, resentful, etc.

Thank you for the reply! Also a book recommendation that may help!
Good luck with everything!
I just read your other comment about the sugar and you seem to be on point about the inflammation. Histamine apparently plays a huge part in certain types of depression and I've learned about this through William Walsh's research. That's great to hear how you stumbled upon this through mask wearing and eliminating certain foods in your diet.
It takes people 20 years before they find their cause, if they even find it at all.
I'm not endorsed by William Walsh or receiving any money for posting links on here. But his book called nutrient power has taught me quite a bit.
If you're not sure who he is, I recommend checking out this book https://www.amazon.com/Nutrient-Power-Heal-Biochemistry-Brain/dp/1626361282 or searching for the e-book version.
Again that's really awesome that you're feeling better after implementing the air filter and diet changes. I hope it continues to make you feel better. and thanks again for sharing.
It's the season of learning, and here's your chance to learn about a unique form of medicine that matches symptoms to the unique personality profile of the person having them. PICTURE IT: HOMEOPATHY. An illustrated book of 32 common homeopathic remedies and their personalities, free on Kindle
Yes i test for candida and im high in igG only will see the doctor next week to talk about that. I have been reading books from amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Hashimotos-Thyroiditis-Lifestyle-Interventions-Treating/dp/0615825796
Made me go and do the test. So informative. Now trying to eliminate the candida !!! As i have athletes foots - and not sure about the guts
Maybe you could be allergic to something you routinely eat ?
I read this book about Hashimoto’s disease Hashimoto’s Disease
They suggested doing an elimination diet elimination diet
You basically take things out of your diet and then add them back in. If you find yourself not feeling well you might have allergy.
It might help you ?
Not all weight gain is lack of will power or being lazy. We are all under stress and stress hormones are not great for weight loss. Be proud of progress you have made ! Keep it up any step forward is progress, even if it is just healthier eating / better nutrition.
Obviously anything should be done under doctor supervision. You could just run a couple panels and check hormone levels and do allergy test.
You can do this

Be skeptical, but listen or read this. Just did a comparable program and it really changed my perspective and helped.
Not sure if the information is valid, but I heard good things about this book:
Nutrient Power: Heal Your Biochemistry and Heal Your Brain https://www.amazon.com/dp/1626361282/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_huGlFbTTS54R5
See if your library has it.
There are free copies online if you look.
Also google how to heal your gut. Look into fasting and elimination diets. Eating prebiotic and probiotic foods. Staying away from lectins might also help you.
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/dietary-lectins#1
Who knows if any of this will work for you, but it is worth a try.
You just said it. Healthy people do not get sick. I spent my whole life getting sick up until around the time I started visiting this board (which once focused a lot on food truths, pesticide resistant GMOS, Monsanto / IG Farben history etc)
I read this book "Never be sick again". Covers everything from types of foods, to food combinations to avoid as well as gut health, our next line of immune defense. And I really followed it. I no longer get sick, healthier now at 32 than I was at 22. Healthy people do not get sick.
Try an AIP diet, eliminate all possible reactive foods and add them back until you identify your triggers. People who continue to have symptoms while correctly medicated swear by this. It might take a while to get to the root cause. Speaking of which, there is an excellent book on how to identify Root Cause: Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause
Consider reading this book. Maybe read reviews first and see if something clicks with you. Psychosis is NEVER not related to body's biochemistry. Hope this helps.
Seriously, William J. Walsh's "Nutrient Power" is the most important book in your life: please read it.
& own your life as completely as you can, no matter what...
Namaste, eh?

Please also read
William Walsh's Nutrient Power
many of us called "mentally ill" are in fact being undermined by simply-corrected biochemical deficits.
( imagine a normal person needs X amount of nutrient Z, but due to epigenetic error you/i need 10x Z, therefore "normal" doses perpetuate the problem, & people blame us for not working-right! )
I have learned in the sci news that in us autistics there is a molecular-machine error that eradicates serotonin from our brains, sort-of anti-estacy...
I have learned since reading that book that much of my ptsd is based in my body grabbing all the ( arachidonic acid, zinc, P5P-b6 ) it can, converting it to useless pyrrol molecules, & kidneys then throw that away, but that means I am perpetually copper-poisoned ( so shiitake mushrooms make me into more of a basket-case, due to the copper )
Now using 3 zincs /day, evg primrose oil ( arachidonic acid precurser ), & p5p to mitigate this, along with enteric 5-HTP for the serotonin-wrongness, & it's like being a different person...
Enteric SAM-e ( taken on empty stomach ) for the undermethylation-of-DNA takes a couple of months to set-in, & I ran out again, so it'll be another month before my stress drops to manageable, again... ( ALL autistics are undermethylated-DNA )...
IF any of the identified in that book underlying-conditions are undertowing you,..
& you get leverage on 'em,..
then your life is more easily yours to win!
: )
Wishing you well,

If you are interested in exploring methylation issues, there is a lot of fake science online. There definitely seems some merit in what methylation issues can cause but the science is still not fully there yet. I think the most reliable source for this information so far is https://www.amazon.com/Nutrient-Power-Heal-Biochemistry-Brain/dp/B00BSH3Z4C/ If you search online for the therapy method suggested in this book, you will find a lot of medical practitioners who can help you diagnose your problems and suggest a way to deal with them through supplements. I highly recommend going through this route (I am doing it myself) because it can save a lot of wasted effort trying to do it yourself. Also, of course, read this book to develop deeper understanding of what's going on.
You may find Allen Carr - The easy way to lose weight helpful for that. It's not very well written and some arguments can be a bit weird, but it tackles down our addiction to food the same way he did for smokers. His book to stop smoking was a revelation for a lot of long time addicted (including my bf, so I saw it working), it's worth a shot.
He aims at changing the way you see food, why we eat etc. It helped me a lot
Don't fret! Sounds like it's an under active thyroid, which is what I have. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis when I was about 10, so trust me when I say that it's definitely not anything to be frightened about.
My biggest suggestion, if it is hypothyroidism, is to read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Hashimotos-Thyroiditis-Lifestyle-Interventions-Treating/dp/0615825796
It is a fantastic source of knowledge and information about what's going on in your body and what can help and why.
Another tip, especially after reading the book, is to make sure you have a doctor who's willing to listen and work with you and not just prescribe pills and send you on your way. A lot of times, symptoms will persist even when your blood work comes back normal. It wasn't until I read the book just recently, and started taking a few additional supplements that I finally started to feel better. I have had HT for as long as I can remember so I never knew anything other than being cold all the time, feeling like it was nearly impossible to wake up in the morning, and being tired all the time.
Thyroid problems are irritating and a hassle, but they're completely manageable and shouldn't affect your job at all.
If you have any questions or want to talk, feel free to let me know. I have, quite literally, a lifetime of experience with it.
Have you read this book in your neuroscience studies? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J75IQUA/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1
It's definitely not an academic text, but it does have some interesting ideas. I became very interested in mental disorders after experiencing a "nervous breakdown" (or something!) last year. It was basically what you described, it was like my prefrontal cortex shut down. I described it at the time as "my 'return: false' command was broken"... somehow I was totally aware of my delusions but completely helpless to solve them. Luckily, I recovered fairly quickly (about 3 weeks), but I do believe that it was brought on by stress/emotional trauma.
Perhaps if you approached her about it like "you could probably have more energy and stop getting sick if we optimize your brain power"... you might be able to convince her to sit down in front of a mental health specialist.
This is pretty awesome! If you guys want some further reading, try Fungal Pharmacy. I see the used book for cheaper than the e-book, pretty sweet deal!
