It's 12.99 now, but holy hell it's a lot of movies...
thats awsome, when i go to look for it online its always 30 to 40 dollars. im just going to save up for this so i can get all of them at once.
This is the collection of the showa era which should be all of the really old ones. The toho collection has the newer old ones. As for buying the newer ones I absolutely would. At least Shin and Kotm. Def watch them all at least.
I've already done it. So I say do it.
Buy the UK edition that has 8 films. It's less than 40 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Monsters-Essential-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B008H45YSO Strangely cheaper than the 6 film edition
Remember the set might go out of print eventually. If it does, and if you're unlucky, the used prices on these things can get ridiculous. Like right now the Friday the 13th Series set on blu ray goes for over 300 used on amazon. I'm a classic and modern horror nut so this makes me want to rise from the dead to take vengeance on my enemies.
You can buy the additional more complete series as they come out, and if they all are announced with release dates, you might be able to sell it used for more than you originally bought it.
I was motivated to look at Goodwill after a recent find was posted here. There's only one available with 10 other bids currently pending, but it's better than eBay's most affordable listing.
<strong>Amazon</strong> is currently priced at $112.49 so make sure not to bid higher than necessary!
This. That disc came out late after people stopped buying discs, so many aren’t aware it exists. You can buy the original Grindhouse as shown in theatres on Blu-ray. It includes the trailers and fake theatre ads, just like when shown in theatres. It is missing the same scenes in Deathproof as well. It’s a riot.
Edited to add Amazon link (ten bucks sold by Amazon with prime shipping). https://www.amazon.com/Grindhouse-Two-Disc-Collectors-Blu-ray-McGowan/dp/B003VMFWYI
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07GNV288V?tag=bluraycom0c-20
Canadian Amazon but it ships to the UK. Only issue is that there's no chance of getting the lithiograph or poster but if you're not bothered its a good way to go
Hey! It’s back down to $112 right now.
Godzilla, the Showa-Era Films, 1954–1975 (the Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]
These are available as a full universal collection. Picked it up last Halloween.
Do not buy The Mummy’s Hand.. it’s a garbage recut of the Mummy.
Definitely watch the Producer's Cut. The blu-ray is currently on sale on Amazon for 6 bucks!
VERY highly recommended over the theatrical release. The score alone makes the movie worth it.
I love horror movies. I'm waiting for IT and Jigsaw to come out on blu ray so I can watch them. If you collect movies, The original 7 SAW movies are available as a blu ray collection from Amazon for $18 Australian dollars. They are region free and the uncut editions but don't include any extras. https://www.amazon.com/Saw-Complete-Collection-Blu-ray-Digital/dp/B00MFCPVO6
> Where did you find this set ? Which movies are in it?
They still have them on Amazon. It has every movie including Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X, which preiviously were very hard to get on bluray. The set is awesome and the price on Amazon is pretty good, its less than I preordered it for on release.
Is it this this version? I've been looking for the theatrical version for forever. I wish I could find the same for 1408.
Look I have both the Friday the 13th collectors tin https://www.amazon.com/Friday-13th-Complete-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B00DEQQK8S and this scream factory collection and the scream factory is the best version of these films...
Here's the only available version on blu-ray: https://www.amazon.com/Zombies-Halloween-Double-Feature-Blu-ray/dp/B0057GUHWI
Weird that the theatricals aren't included on the main releases, but this two pack is usually pretty cheap, so whatever.
The only North American release of the Japanese cut of King Kong vs. Godzilla with English subtitles is as part of the Showa Era Godzilla set from the Criterion Collection, as a special feature on the bonus disc:
King Kong Escapes has never been released in North America with Japanese audio.
You can get it as part of a two pack. I think I got mine separately from Vintage Stock. Rob Zombie's Halloween / Halloween 2 (Double Feature) [Blu-ray] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0057GUHWI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BF8GSMFZAQS3GTXJC159?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

That comes with a digital code that you should be able to use on Vudu. It's only the first 7 movies (it doesn't come with Jigsaw or Spiral), but it could be a good option until Jigsaw or Spiral have their own deep sales digitally, or until they appear on other streaming platforms that you are paying for.
It's actually available on Amazon or Barnes and Noble at the time but is half price at Amazon. In case that's inconvenient, B&N and Criterion run half-price sales several times throughout the year.
related question- is the producer's cut the same length as the original theatrical release? Tat is what I am finding but then this amazon link shows almost 2 hours.

nice collection, me personally just needs return of godzilla and this movie collection to get the rest of the godzilla movies.
I just bought a set on amazon for like $30 that included 7 of the biggest universal horror movies such as Frankenstein and Dracula. The discs are British which I think makes them not have any particular region lock on them but I am not sure. If you can get it shipped to Japan I would highly recommend its a great deal and has a really nice artwork booklet included. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Monsters-Essential-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B008H45YSO/ref=sr_1_9?crid=2B151MB12CUT8&dchild=1&keywords=universal+horror+blu+ray&qid=1615658928&sprefix=universal+horror+box%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-9

The price tag hurts, but it gets down to $130 pretty often. For 30 movies that's about $4 a movie plus bonus features so it's not terrible.
EDIT: The Blu Ray is nice, but if you don't mind the DVD set is half the price.

You can find it pretty much at any online retailer, but sure here's an Amazon link.

Also, just as a head's up, Universal blu rays tend to be region free, so if you find a legacy collection cheaper in the UK or something, it'll play on a US player.
I don't think they're streaming anyway. Of course Amazon & Vudu, and the like have them to buy, but I think the cheapest option is the bluray set. 1-7 bluray + digital for 12 bucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Movie-Collection-Bluray-Digital-Blu-ray/dp/B00MFCPVO6
Vudu has all 8 for 40, but it'd be cheaper to just get the set and then Jigsaw by itself. Even if you don't have a bluray player, you still get digital codes to redeem.
