Just a heads up everyone, Amazon has the price down 40% right now. Normally it's $106, but they have it down to $65!!!
Odd that it comes from a book, but chapter 3 (i think?) of House Of Leaves has a great set up to a scare at the end that takes the house from odd curiosity to a very real looming threat for the first time.
When Navidson and his family come back from a trip, they find this odd new walk in closet addition connecting the kid's room and the master bedroom that was not there before. He starts pouring over the blueprints of the house and taking measurements and finds that the house is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside by 1/4's of an inch. No mater what he does, he cannot get his measurements to agree with each other. His partner Karen wants to just leave it be, but Navidson grows adamant to figure out what is going on, going as far as to call in a favor to borrow the most accurate tool possible from a local university.
While Navidson and his brother are picking that up, Karen and her friend take the opportunity to build a bookshelf in the master bedroom, using the two opposing walls as bookends, describing a domino effect stopping at the wall when a book is removed. Later Navidson and his brother run the machine to measure the room and to everyone's relief, there is no more 1/4 inch discrepancy. They run it one more time just for shits and giggles at which point Navidson's brother grabs a book off the shelf to prop a door open. This causes the remaining books to fall over onto the ground, revealing a full foot gap between the wall and the end of the bookshelf which is lost upon everyone but Karen. It wasn't faulty tools or bad math. The house can change, and it can change whenever the hell it wants.
I'll also take this opportunity to tell you to read House of Leaves it's really fucking good.
Yep yep. Max Brooks. Also the author of The Zombie Survival Guide World War Z (the book) is far better, but the survival guide was how I was introduced to it all.
Some people prefer reading the compendiums . They collect 8 volumes in one book. The first compendium is basically like Season 1-4 of the show.
Personally, I prefer the volumes. . They collect 6 issues in one book. I like these better because the covers are much cooler than the compendium. You’ll save money and space with the compendium but I find those incredibly uncomfortable to read. They are big thick bible books. The volumes are much better for casual reading.
Issues are sold individually for 2.99-3.99 online.
Or you just can just read it online. Links aren’t allowed but you can find it with a quick google search.
I think what you are looking for is an Epistolary Novel, which is a novel written in the form of "found" documents. Books like We Need To Talk About Kevin are written in the form of letters from one character to another, or another common technique is when a book is written as if it is the personal journal of a character.
There are also satire books like The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks which is obviously fiction, but written as if it is true.
So, between The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks and that one Mythbusters(maybe) episode about zombies and vampires or something like that:
Zombies don't have that gate that prevents humans from using 100% of their available strength. You know, the whole "mom lifting a car off her kid" strength? That's zombies forever. That also extends to their bite force. They don't really care about breaking their teeth or destroying their jaw muscles, so it's full send every time.
So, chipped and broken teeth that might be sharp, a bite force several times stronger than what humans would usually be capable of, and the fact that the smallest cut from a zombie tooth and you're infected. Kevlar would probably work, but I wouldn't be prepared to put on a couple pairs of jeans and assume I'm safe.
The complete works of H P Lovecraft is available as one hardback book on Amazon with a nice sturdy case, thin bible-style pages and a page ribbon. It's a great buy.

This review speaks for itself:
"I originally read most of these stories a quarter of a century ago, but it was good to find them all in one volume. Let's face it, Lovecraft needs to be read from a heavy tome, preferably by guttering candlelight, as you strain to hear the strange slithering sound just outside your chamber door, and not on a tablet on the 8.52 to Nottingham. All the classic Lovecraft tales are here, and the book is beautifully bound and printed. The print is a good readable size, and each tale has a brief introduction detailing when it was written and any interesting references. You soon realise how hugely influential old H.P was, sci-fi, fantasy and horror have all learned from him, writers like Stephen King and James Herbert obviously so, but others too. Terry Pratchett referenced Lovecraft too. One slight word of caution, the racial language and descriptions in some of the stories are very much of their time. When I first read them years ago I didn't notice so much, but now, even though I'm not the most PC person in the world, some of the language is fairly shocking. If you've not read Lovecraft before be aware of it, but don't let it put you off. Overall a really nice edition."
I'm not an expert on merch but I imagine Amazon gets it from an official wholesaler of the products and the puts them up for retail. Amazon it pretty good about having official products sold there, and It'd probably be pretty clear if it wasn't official (with a lack of the products info and what not).
I actually just purchased my first LN collection from Amazon earlier today, and they listed the publisher on the page. So I hope my money went to the creator's sales.
There's quite a few options since his work is public domain. I've got this leatherbound one from Barnes and Noble.
Amazon also has a cheaper option.
And if you have an ereader, his stories are all in the public domain so you can get them for free.
No, but they'll be released slowly. The volume 1 pre-order is on sale at Amazon at $27, plus there is an Amazon coupon for 10% and another for $5 off.

If you mean like a three-in-one type of deal, yes - Berserk Deluxe. It's paperback, pages are bigger and, yeah, that's all I know. First one's out in just a few days, second will be released in July and the third's coming in November, with more on the way.
If you're aiming on picking up volume 1, I recommend going here on Amazon as the price is down to 35 USD, (shipping not included, but still).
I'd recommend getting them from Amazon. They're almost half off on there. You can get all 3 compendiums (144 issues total) for around $100 vs. $180 retail. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1607060760/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_eI.nwb70V69XJ
How much are you willing to spend? There are about 150 issues total and the show is about to hit the arc that starts around issue #100. There are three compendiums out that collect 48 issues each. If you want a solid chunk of TWD to get the juices flowing, you'd save even more money by going the compendium route.
The first one is going for $36 on Amazon and it collects #1-48. About $0.75 per issue. If you like/love that, you could either continue collecting the compendiums (and have to wait about four years for the next compendium to come out, since TWD is usually on a 12-issues-per-year schedule except for a few events in the past that had an issue every two weeks), or you could start collecting the trades going forward and eventually pick up the trades that were in compendium one. It's up to you.

One of the comments intrigued me into buying some of Lovecraft's books. Found his complete works on Amazon for around 12$. Awesome find if you're interested. It's roughly 1100 pages.

I always use amazon. I reccomend buying berserk deluxe edition first. Its a premium hardcover book that comes with the first three volumes. Its pretty cheap right now at about 27$ nearly half the usual price.
Berserk Deluxe Volume 1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/1506711987/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kFw3CbEB9KH1C
There's an official English translation by the publisher Vertical now that is currently translating all the novels, the latest one to have been published is Tsukimonogatari, and they're pumping a new one every 2-3 months roughly. You can buy them on Amazon, for example.
Also, if you're up for it, they grouped the first novels into a First Season Box Set, and a Second Season Box Set is also available for pre-order (but will only come out at the end of the year).
I would recommend either:
the Deluxe Volume 1 physical copy for about $35 which includes the first 3 volumes,
or you can buy the first 4 volumes from Dark Horse digital for $30.
While you get more story and content for a lower price going the digital route, with the physical deluxe edition you at least have the option of re-selling it at a decent price, if it doesn't suit your fancy.
You could try going the free route, but quality suffers quite a bit from poor scans and translations.
Either way, first 3 volumes at a minimum before reserving judgement. Volume 3 does end in a middle of an important event, though, just as a warning.
Here's one for $15. I own this edition. It doesn't have his revisions, but it does contain his primary works. The cover isn't anything special, but at least it's hardback.

I’ve been on an audiobook kick as of late, since I enjoy horror podcasts so much I figured I’d really enjoy books as well and so far they’ve been a lot of fun to check out. Especially with Audible’s Plus catalogue with a ton of free books to listen to. I also have enjoyed found footage horror films, which kind of blends documentaries and movies, two things I’ve been enjoying. So that’s why Lake Mungo was a great recent watch for me, it has such a huge payoff at the end of the film, I really enjoyed it. Also, as far as books go, have you checked out House of Leaves? I’ve heard really good things about it, but also that you need to read the physical copy of the book because of the way it’s written, some pages are written in different colors, or upside down, or things like that and you really need to check it out in person because of that touch on it. I can’t wait to check it out at some point, it sounds so good.
It was a PG13 zombie movie....
If you're impressed with the details just read The Zombie Survival Guide. Same author who wrote the book your gold standard was based on.
The only Berserk anime I liked and would recommend is the 1997 version. All the episodes are on YouTube! The dub is surprisingly really good and the sound track is great. It’s important to know that each anime adaptation has its own problems and leaves out a lot in regards to the story.
As for manga, I’m waiting to get paid this weekend to start my journey. From stuff I’ve read online, a good way of reading the manga is through the volume collection. Click here: berserk manga volume 1 to see what I’m talking about.
Overall, I’ve fallen in love with the lore and the incredible story of Berserk. I’ve never been so anxious to read a manga before! I hope this was helpful.
Oh shit they did?
10 second edit: I dont think they did https://www.amazon.com/MONOGATARI-Box-Set-Limited-NISIOISIN/dp/1947194399/ref=sr_1_17?crid=324K674YOBL7F&dchild=1&keywords=monogatari+box+set+season+1&qid=1610251897&sprefix=monogatar%2Caps%2C305&sr=8-17
He pretty much only wrote short stories and one novella (Mountains of Madness). You can get a complete collection of his fiction pretty cheaply from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Fiction-H-P-Lovecraft/dp/0785834206/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471620319&sr=8-1&keywords=complete+lovecraft
If you don't mind ebooks, all of his stories are in the public domain.
I got mine from Amazon Germany.
Link.
If you’re into classic horror, this is a book with some the works of H.P Lovecraft. I love diving into it when I don’t want to be immersed in a whole new book, but craving a new story. It’s not the full collection but a good start. H.P Lovecraft, Amazon.
Ugh. so many unanswered questions. Also, i LOVED the movie when I saw it, but the book bore almost no resemblance. I understand why they did the movie the way they did. I basically have to tell myself that the movie is one of the other expeditions and that Area X rendered differently for that group.
If you've never read House of Leaves, you really should. Tons of resemblance between this and the Area X series. And the book itself is a work of art.
The Gospel According to Biff is a comedic book depicting Jesus' "lost year" where he travels East with his friend, Biff.
Really kinda shocked at how little it cost; to put it in perspective I read Faulkner's As I Lay Dying a month ago and that cost $15 for a 250ish page trade paperback. They can't be making too much money off this one, lol
Its also nice to see this has some of his lesser known stories as well. Pretty much complete near as I can tell for his standard adult fiction stories. Link for anyone interested: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Fiction-H-P-Lovecraft/dp/0785834206
You can get The Complete Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft on Amazon for about $12, which is kind of hard to beat price-wise, but might be kind of intimidating. "The Call of Cthulhu" is probably his most well known story. "At The Mountains of Madness" gets a little more into the cosmic horror, and is my personal favorite.
