I resigned myself to less searing. More stewing. Baking. Etc. Opening window when weather permitted at all times. Using a twin fan, with in/out for airflow in window such as this. The crockpot was my friend. So was sousvide. Experiment with raw dishes. Limitations only expand your palate and skills, my friend. Edit: Also, grease in the air is one of those things that traps scents, so if your decor is minimal and has limited fabric, or fabric that you can air out, that helps. Clean as much as possible.
This usb fan. I've had so many uncomfortably hot nights, especially while staying in pod dorms without fans built in. This thing is light, well built, and provides a surprising amount of cooling breeze.
If there is a USB port on the switch, get this.

These fans are amazing. 1 of them keep my network equipment cool. Works like a champ.
I survived college in the south with one of these window fans.
They work almost as well as ac and are a bit cheaper. I'd look into getting one.
It really depends on the design of the house, too.
I grew up without AC, but it was a single-story house beneath a gigantic shade-tree. It got warm inside, but fairly tolerable with some fans.
Then I moved into a two-story house without A/C, and without any shade. Heat rises, so upstairs retains a lot of heat. My upstairs bedroom would get to 90 degrees at night and I would be absolutely miserable and unable to sleep. Even if night-time temps would drop into the 70s, it would stay in the upper 80s in that room, even with the windows open.
I eventually mitigated the issue with one of those in-window fan units, to exhaust the hot air and pull in cool night air. Simply opening the windows did nothing, even putting a fan on a table in front of the window did nothing. The in-window unit at least managed to cycle enough of the air to equalize the indoor and outdoor temperature.
Get this guy. Rotate it so it's blowing upwards and slap your helmet on top to dry it out/keep it cool between sessions.
Some reassurance. I had the Gear S3, and I did not use any battery health management. Just wore it every day and charged it every night, and it still lasted ~3.5 years before having any battery issues.
For general battery tips, taking it off the charger once it is done charging (the watch will tell you the charge time when you first put it on the charger, so you can set an alarm for it).
Other tip, I've seen is charging more frequently rather than letting it fully drain. With the GW3's battery life, that means you can just charge it once daily (for example while you shower) and it should always be in the 60-100% range.
Finally, you can try to keep it cool while charging. I actually have a small thermaltake mobile fan that I turn on whenever I am charging my electronics to keep them from overheating (doubt it makes that big of a difference though). (https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Adjustable-One-touch-Retractable-A1888/dp/B00080G0BK/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=thermaltake+fan&qid=1605764802&sr=8-7)
I just got a Thermaltake desk fan off of Amazon. I feel like it's a PCMasterrace badge of pride to have a case fan sitting on my work desk.
OK, I've looked into this a lot.
First, buy a USB power pack. There is always some deal going on slick deals for one. Some have a little LED light built in, some do not. You'll have to decide your size. Their capacity will be measured in milliamp-hours (mAh). An iphone 6/6S battery is around 1,800 mAh. So, if you got a 10,000 mAh battery pack, you could recharge your phone around 4-5 times theoretically. I got a 20,000 mAh one with an LED light built in for $28 last year. I've used it on camping trips and recharged everyone's phone and a bluetooth speaker and it still had half a charge left. That being said, it is a big bastard and weighs quite a lot.
Here is a great deal running now. $13.99 for 10,400 mAh. http://slickdeals.net/f/8960155-unifun-10400mah-usb-external-travel-battery-rugged-water-dirt-shockproof-with-flashlight-13-99-ac-fsss-amazon?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
Second, find a USB powered fan. Tons to choose from. I have this one and like it a lot and it's very lightweight. https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-USB-Powered-Portable-Solution-Gooseneck/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=zg_bs_3015416011_5
So, now you have a battery pack that can charge your phone, run a fan, maybe light up, and charge a bluetooth speaker. Isn't technology great :)
I can't attest to OP's fan, but I travel with this one and have been very happy with it for nearly 3 years now. Even if I'm somewhere without electricity, I can plug it into my 5000mAh portable battery and it'll last the entire night easily.
tell me that is not your only fan. i have this horse in the same position as your fan and i'm still burning on max effort rides
In the old days double hung windows could be lowered from the top and opened from the bottom, creating two separate passages, one for bringing cool air in and another for letting hot air out. The stack effect. Most old windows have since been sealed on the top pane which is dumb. If possible you need to do the same. One fan at the top of your window pointed out, one fan at the bottom pointed in. Those dual-fan window units can do the same thing if one is reversible but since they're at the same height, it's not as good. But still worthwhile.
god, honeywell black fan. i first got it, the dam thing was $15 a 15" fan or so and just a vortex amazing little bugger. i buy the same unit for twice the price, 10 years later after college and suddenly it's highest setting is worse than the lowest setting of my old one. its weaker than ever and can't blow for crap.
a huge shame because the original one was mighty wonderful for it's size. while the current version is only helpful if you have a few rogue unused tissues.

I have the same situation at my place. I use this in my window. Not as good as air con but at least it pulls in the cooler air when the temperature drops. I have two sliding windows so I close my door and turn both fans on extract and the other window pulls in the cool air right next to my bed
I have a couple of 2 port docks with 2HD's each and they got really hot as well. I ordered this usb fan set and put one fan on each pair, they're super cold now.

I'm thinking two sets of them would cover all of your drives and running on low or med might even be enough. In the meantime if you have a deskfan I would point it at your rig.
This usually pops up on /r/steampunk every so often. They say its a fake that you can buy from here:

Last time it was linked that while there were mechanical fans in 1845, they were usually kept to draw air out of, or push air into, mines and were much larger.
I have a SP4 as well, I use one of these always plugged in to the USB port and blowing directly in to the air intake at the top of the machine. Found the solution on reddit or a forum years ago and it definitely helped to keep things cooler than before.
A year or two later I bought this to further help cooling while doing intensive things like relatively light gaming. I have it clipped to my desk and blowing air on to the SP4/ towards the air intake from another angle.
I'm sure it's not the greatest solution for the heating issues, but it allows me to have my SP4 plugged into a dock (with 2 monitors + external mouse/keyboard/headphones) regularly while playing LoL + other games on low settings while not being petrified that it'll overheat lol. And I spent about $30 Canadian in total so I'm not complaining.

There's a link to the amazon store that's selling them. They're pretty cheap, and they work great. I use mine almost all day every day. I live in Minnesota, so it gets really hot in the summers and really cold in the winters. During this time of year, I often point the fan at my face rather than my Surface, because even though it is really small, it is a quite powerful device.
https://www.youtube.com/user/microsoftsurfaceproG
that's a link to probably your new favorite YouTuber. He does demonstration videos of new games on the Surface Pro 2. Even though you may not have a 2, the difference in performance between the two models is almost unnoticeable unless you have the i3 4GB model. Also on that channel, are videos for system configuration, things like installing the right graphics driver to even manually going into your Surface's power settings and forcing it to display the maximum performance setting so you can get the most power to the components, ultimately leading to better game performance.
Hello,
I have a surface S3 with I7 for over a year now and I love it. Most of your bugs I've experienced at some point or other. Windows 10 originally had a pretty rough start on minor bugs but Microsoft has started releasing patches at a faster rate which helped a lot of these.
Keep updating windows.. This use to be a common problem for more then just surface, (my gf has a lenovo laptop with touch and it would break there too) but it went away sometime ago. (Use to be a weekly problem but I haven't experienced it in a few months)
I had to disable windows defender for similar issues. Not sure if updating or what helped but ya the overheating is a real issue. I bought a usb small fan on amazon for about $7 to plug into my computer to blow air on the top right corner of the computer. This helps a lot with overheating, (especially when gaming). For the process being stuck, it sounds like a bug =/. I use to see this issue but it went away. For me it was this "app module installer". Very annoying but I haven't had an issue like this in months.

Sorry, haven't hit this.
Try letting update run for a long period of time. I had the same problem and learned that the % isn't accurate. If you don't have the windows anniversary version it might be downloading a very large update and could be stuck there for a long time.
I donno if I was very helpful but try to plug into a solid internet and download all the updates, the Surface has come a long way in terms of reliability. Microsoft redesigned a lot of code with windows 8+ and it came at a cost.
I have a portable fan I put either on my table or down on the floor. Link to item on Amazon. I get lots of compliments on it from guests and photographers.
I also bring 3 changes of clothes. One to setup in, one to perform in, and one to tear down/drive home in.
I pack a roll of paper towels, but my next gig this weekend (outdoor barn venue in Georgia) I am bringing a small towel. The paper towels get soaked instantly and sometimes leave lint on my face.
Lastly, I would recommend dressing up in vest, shirt, and tie only if the clients requested it. My go-to is dress slacks and a golf style polo (the dry thread type). I got 3 of them at Sam's for $20 each and they are sharp. I have some long sleeve button down shirts that don't show sweat much I will wear if I want to really dress up. I have yet to wear a tie.
Don't be shy about how hard you are working. Other vendors and guests understand. If they see you pushing through it and not letting up they will be more inclined to party, too!
Good luck and stay hydrated!
I can't even hear them tbh, they're great, I have 2 more on top of my LED venting off heat right into my AC Infinity Inline fan/filter! highly suggest!

If ISO = in search of, then as shown in my pic I got the Arctic Breeze and a timer as recommended by /u/ilreppans Weight of both combined 105 g.
Fans means something like https://www.amazon.com/Lasko-U12104-Velocity-Ventilating-Exhausting/dp/B07YKXF9VC and at least two. Options may vary depending on your location (Europe vs US, etc.).
For boredom, YouTube (cycling related podcasts for me), Netflix or similar can help for some folks, less so for others.
I spend a lot of time on the trainer due to life and because following a structured plan during the week makes long weekend rides more enjoyable. Did Zwift for a year but I'd do extra Zwift stuff and end up overworked and unable to finish planned workouts, so I dropped it.
Bit late, but this “paint dryer” has been a life saver in this Seattle heat. Not AC, but cheaper and better than any of the regular fans we’ve bought.
Glad you figured it out, just blast the air through those vent slits. I've got a couple of WD externals laying on top of my plotter and have one of these to blow air down them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JLV4BWC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
oh, this is so professional.
a bit expensive, what do u think about that? https://www.amazon.it/ARCTIC-Breeze-Mobile-Ventilatore-silenzioso/dp/B003XN24GY/ref=sr\_1\_21?\_\_mk\_it\_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=ventilatore+usb&qid=1620996453&sr=8-21
We went through something similar and just ended up getting a small fan that we blew into the crate, and then we took out blankets and just put a towel in there because it doesn't retain much heat. You can also put frozen things in there like a frozen kong (doesn't even need to have food in it, just acting as like an ice pack) and maybe a couple ice cubes.
Here is mine:
https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-HT-900-TurboForce-Circulator-Black/dp/B001R1RXUG/
I only use it while testing the drives before shucking though. Usually doing three drives at once until they successfully complete preclear on unraid. With the fan, the temperatures remain well within reason.
