There're something like a bazillion books concerning Picasso; Richardson's 'Life of Picasso' (of which there are three volumes, covering 1881 to 1932) is authoritative.
I prefer reading about his earlier years; Norman Mailer's 'Portrait of Picasso as a Young Man' is entertaining and covers the period nicely. Fernande Olivier was his (main) romantic interest between 1904 and 1912, and the two memoirs she wrote mainly about this are available as a single volume.
That which is maybe my favorite book about Picasso -- Brassai's 'Conversations With Picasso' -- was written a bit later, in the 1940s, when he was photographing the artist's work for cataloging and is basically a record of conversations they were having at the time (as, uh, the title suggests). "Read this book if you want to understand me," spake Picasso
Now that you've reminded me of this post I've put a link on my toolbar and'll see if anything else comes to mind.
How goes your reading so far? Any highlights?
ETA: just to throw in a different area of the arts, Werner Herzog's 'Conquest of the Useless: Reflections from the Making of 'Fitzcarraldo'', is tasty. It includes details about Klaus Kinski, who Werzog swore he would kill before committing suicide if he refused to finish acting in the film. On the character study end Kinski's autobiography, 'Kinski Uncut', is full of sex (starting with his sister) and drama.
After Kinski's death Herzog made a biopic about him, 'My Best Fiend', which I can't help but mention in case the autobiography doesn't sound quite right.
Not sure but the book in question is available on Google docs and in the acknowledgements they mention that the exhibition tickets were designed by Peter Kogler. Maybe the tickets had the same design as the catalogue. Kogler has done other catalogue covers. Here is one for his exhibition at MOMA and here one for the Mumok. There is some similarity in style but I couldnt say for certian that it is him.
