This is the cover of The Soviet Bus Stops book. The only purchace I've ever made on amazon and it was definetly worth it. Appearantly bus stops was one of the few opportunities architechts got to really express themselfs and it made for some really interesting designs. Highly recommend it.
the book by Bernal Diaz is fantastic!

It's about the history, past and recent, of the Spanish missions in Texas with a fairly comprehensive study of the Spanish colonization of Northern Mexico, New Mexico and Texas
Currently reading: The 99% Invisible City: A Field Guide to the Hidden World of Everyday Design and enjoying it quite a bit.
Happy to help. Another good one is Unbuilt for some megastructure concepts.
The first thing to know about getting into retrofuturism is that it's not a singular subject, there are tons of little subareas based on stuff like time period and architecture styles. Go down some Wikipedia rabbit holes and you'll find useful keywords to search for.
What a wonderful photo! Thanks!
This book covers the missions of San Antonio as well as those in El Paso and others. The history it covers is also very extensive.

This book covers a lot of that issue:
The Spanish, English and French were often in this area then. This book: https://www.amazon.es/Spanish-Missions-Texas-Byron-Browne/dp/154021432X/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_es_ES=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=spanish+missions+of+texas&qid=1633673382&sr=8-2
deals with some of the Spanish excursions there.
Thanks for the map. It's very cool
A really good book on the missions from El Paso to Louisiana.

lo que sea... hay muchas mas cosas por pedir pardón.
pero, este libro es muy bueno tambien...
The Soviets also liked to show off their bus stops.
This won't quite hit the nail on the head, but I really enjoyed The 99% Invisible City .
It is more about hidden elements of city design and architecture but super interesting. It only lightly covers some history. There is a podcast that is excellent that the authors put out that is also about design, architecture, etc.
There used to be a podcast called Out There Radio that did an episode about the "Georgia Guidestones". On of the hosts named Raymond Wiley actually wrote a book about them.
Raymond Wiley, formerly of Out There Radio and the Disinformation podcast, wrote a book on them. I think they were broadcasting from the Georgia area, and I always loved listening to their shows.
Amazon sells all three. For a little over 20 each.
Posting again - your question got me searching on Amazon - this book looks great. I'm going to order a copy of rmyself!

Storefront? That sounds like a biased source of information considering that NYC has one of the biggest Jewish communities in the country.
If you're into this, check out Soviet Bus Stops by Christopher Herwig.
