This is the one I have and I love it. Main monitor front & center, laptop on the side. Works great, I have post in here a few weeks back showcasing it.
WALI Single LCD Monitor Desk... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072QZ2XZ3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m actually looking for a similar solution, only with 2 monitors and a laptop. For a two monitor arm mount you could just use a VESA compatible laptop tray/place like this one. There are also mounts with built in laptop trays on the second mount.
I have a fairly cheap combo monitor and laptop arm. Both the clamp and the grommet adapters have some decent padding coverage on the top sides.
I was using the standard clamp when I first installed it and then moved it to one of the desk's grommets. After moving from the clamp to the grommet adapter, I didn't notice any marks on the top of the desk. I am pretty sure I have removed the arm from the grommet once and I don't remember seeing any marks that would have resulted from the arm being in contact with the desk.
My desktop is carbonized bamboo which, though I love the way it looks, seems to be a relatively soft wood.
Hey! Just a bit of an update, so I actually instead got a VESA mount made for laptops/tablets just to give it a shot. Can update you tomorrow on how sturdy/well it works if you'd like. Hoping I can screw it tight enough so that it doesn't move when in use.
Hey there!
I utilize this one.
Wali Single Adjustable Mount and Laptop Stand
For its purpose, it works just as intended for me, I switch back from my Windows Workstation and my Macbook often for the monitor so it helps just keeping everything simplified.
I can try and figure it out but it was a really cheap laptop/monitor vesa stand from Amazon. I just didn’t use the monitor part of it. It has surprisingly good build quality and saves a lot of desk space.
I got it on sale, and they're all dropshipped so you might be able to find a seller with a good sale at some point
I'm pretty sure they make moniter/laptop combo desk mount arms. I would recommend looking into that and also just cleaning up the cables in the corner a little bit. You can grab a cable sleeve or just some velcro ties, a little goes a long way with cables. Nice setup nonetheless!!

An issue I'm dealing with as well. I decided on a one-desk setup for computer and synth gear. I just got something similar to this for my mixer
Thanks ❤️ It’s part of this one from Amazon. Going to try and modify the other part to hold a pair of XDJ700’s for non vinyl friends to use. 🙂
I use this with both my Mk3 and Ableton Push, and it works perfectly for my needs. It frees up a ton of desk space.

It's this one. It's nice because it comes with two vesa monitor arms so you can choose to use the laptop tray or do dual monitor. I bought it after seeing it on ultralinx/oliur's latest desk setup video
It’s from HUANUO, it’s a little wobbly and doesn’t feel super sturdy but it works fine, here is the link:

I just set this one up at home two days ago. I have an expensive two arm mount at work. This one was a bit more finicky to set up, and doesn't have all the little micro adjustments, but once it's set up, it seems surprisingly solid.
I've got a couple mounts made by mount-it. I bought them from Amazon. They have a single post that grips the side of the desk and then the laptop tray is on a horizontal arm that extends from that.
This says Wali, but its basically the same stand.

Right now I have two laptops on one post and it holds them securely enough that I could type on them if I needed to.
Two different.

I just got This monitor & laptop mount a few days ago for my home office and it's nice to help minimize the surface area covered on a desk, you could try that for your setup. Then I would get rid of the laptop riser, maybe move the computer riser to hold some of the random items to the left of the desk, get a small filing system to put on the right side of the desk. Minimize as you're able like the others have said
The metal sheet is just a WALI Laptop Tray Desk Mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BDQQVN2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Yeah, it supports the keyboard and is a bit of a wrist rest which could be padded, but don't find that necessary. The pole to the left is part of that WALI Desk Mount. Mounted to that pole are two phone clamp/holders, one for a phone (no phone in the photo because I using it, an iPhone 11, to take the photo) and the other for the Stream Deck. That same phone holder/clamp just happens to work to hold the Stream Deck Mk.2 15-button (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09738CV2G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Phone sits in the holder during shows so I can monitor the livestream to be sure we have not fallen off the air, which has only happened a handful of time in 550+ shows.
Similar to how I started. Just swap gaming laptop for PS4. Played normal games while away, or on the road. At home, I built a wooden rig for my G920 with a stand that held a monitor and a laptop. Plug my G920 into the rig and race away!
Something Like this:
I'd bought it a long time ago, I think it was the 'BONTEC Monitor Arm Mount with Laptop Tray for 13 to 27 inch LCD LED Screen & up to 15.6 inch Notebook,Tilt Rotation Swivel Ergonomic Desk Stand Bracket with Clamp, VESA Dimensions: 75x75-100x100mm ', although I'm unable to find it.
Boo. This might go on the list after I get a new monitor! Doing this for now https://i.imgur.com/cL9VLDE.jpg
Via one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DWM9WNM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I assume any metal laptop tray vesa arm thing oughta work though
I’m using one of these guys and it’s very sturdy
https://i.imgur.com/sZfVHA1.jpg I’ve got mine on a VESA mount “laptop tray”. The magnets hold it on there just fine, doesn’t move without decent motivation.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DWM9WNM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Is the one I got, but if I was buying again, I’d go for a set of those gas powered arms that are easier to reposition
So this is the one I used from Amazon which admittedly was cheap for what it was but surprisingly worked very well. I struggled to find one that was designed for ultra wides and laptops specifically also. Now this does the job on my LG 34WP85C-B , but only just. If I’m honest I don’t know if it work with 38 inches, i just don’t know if it will be wide enough when mine only just about fits side by side with the monitor. If you had a 34 inch I’d say go for it, otherwise you may be better served with two separate mounts.
Thanks OP, got 2! My current monitors (2x 27in) are mounted on a single vertical pole with two branches, sort of like this but with a second monitor instead of a laptop stand. It works decently well, but the wobble is pretty high with two monitors hanging off a single mounting point. It also isn't very easy to adjust (which isn't a big deal, as I rarely do).
Hoping that giving each monitor it's own arm will make them a lot more steady.
It's a nice setup. Only issue is the desk isn't very big, so you have a lot of things fighting for desk real estate.
I read that someone suggested you get a monitor arm with a laptop tray and I suggest this as well. I use that same laptop cooler and I'm sure it'll fit on a tray like this one.
all the mount stuff is vivo... highly recommend them!
This is the laptop mount: https://smile.amazon.com/VIVO-Universal-Adjustable-Compatible-Stand-LAP3/dp/B07R6792WH
It's mounted to a dual arm mount with the bottom monitor on the other side
