Congrats on the new computers. You might want to air blower to clean your and your brother's computers every so often, especially since you have a pet. Having dust and pet fur in a computers can slow it down. I would recommend this. Other computer enthusiasts might know of better computer cleaners.
Thanks for all the great art!
Amazon Link. Not trying to shill the product or anything, but it's import to keep our build's clean and this is a necessary tool.
The problem isn't thermal paste, it's that people don't regularly maintain their devices and/or don't place their consoles somewhere with proper ventilation. My PS4 is 4 years old and runs dead silent because after one year (once it was out of warranty), I routinely (every 4-6 months) open my PS4 and dust out the inside with my electric duster (https://www.amazon.com/Metro-ED500-DataVac-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW). I blast the fan, power supply, all the vents, and loosen any hardened dust with a soft paintbrush.
My PS4 runs quiet no matter what I'm playing. Same applies for my PS3, which is going to be 9 years old this year and still runs cool.
Honestly this is the best solution I've found:

Price is usually around $55 on Amazon. That adds up to a few cases of compressed air, but you'll never have to use those cans again. Also worth mentioning it's super powerful (it blows air, does not work like a vacuum.)
Just my 2 cents, it's worth it IMO.
EDIT I bought this because it doesn't trap moisture inside like a real air compressor does in the tank / hose (especially in the more humid states.) I learned that lesson the hard way while using my garage air compressor on a custom PC. Fried the board.
There are PC blowers around $50-75 on Amazon that do a great job. Metro Datavac ED500 is the one I've used for 3 years now. Not a single issue. Just clean out the filter in the bottom and re-install after x-amount of time. Have not had to buy a new filter.
Keep from damaging fans by using a chopstick or bamboo skewer. You place it inside between the fan blade and frame. It keeps you from over-spinning a fan and damaging it.

Amazon has better customer support, buy from them. 2 day prime shipping too
I bought a 30 electric blower from Amazon and a 40 foot cable extension as well and then after just 1-2 microfiber cloth towels. Then some 303 aero on the trim
I did have strong thoughts about using my leaf blower inside yesterday when it came time to clean the neglected area of my kitchen. Decided that it would be too disastrous to try. Could have potentially busted out the electric duster that is sitting in my closet.
This one here is the one I use. However this specific model I ordered almost 2 years ago and it's even in my Amazon history for $29.99. However There are cheaper models as the current $70 price is a bit ridiculous, although it's an amazing duster.

Incidentally, the blower Kyle uses in that video is amazing. I bought it as soon as I saw him use it. It's expensive, but so is compressed air if you use enough of it. I also highly recommend you use it outside. The last time I used it on a dusty computer it cleaned it in seconds - with a dust cloud to match.
You are most likely smelling the bitterant additive, which can leave a residue on objects. Eventually it should clear.
If this is really abhorrent, I would switch to a datavac duster. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Metro-DataVac-500-Watt-0-75-HP-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW
One exists with ESD safe plastics as well.
Just buy one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Metro-DataVac-500-Watt-0-75-HP-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW

Then it doesn't matter anymore. Unlimited compressed air
I use this. https://www.amazon.com/Metro-DataVac-500-Watt-0-75-HP-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW
I have it for more than a year now. I clear all electronics and and convectors and ventilation fans at home with it. Quite handy and powerful.
I got this one like 7+ years ago, still going strong. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J4ZOAW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's more expensive than some. There's other cheaper ones that are basically the same thing. https://www.amazon.com/XPOWER-Airrow-Multi-Use-Electric-Computer/dp/B01BI4UQK0/ref=psdc_3012916011_t1_B001J4ZOAW

Get this. Screw compressed air. This is the best lol takes everything out.
I used to use canned air, now I use this thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J4ZOAW
That specific model is no longer being sold, but there are many others. Just look into which one you get as there are many cheaply-made knockoffs.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001J4ZOAW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 bought this for 112 CAD on 2016. Still works great, definitely recommend.
Not sure if UK Amazon sells this or something similar:
Metro ED500 DataVac 500-Watt 120 volt 0.75-HP Electric Blower Duster
A good vacuum with bristles is a better solution to dust your keyboard, canned compressed air loses pressure after a few blasts and all you're doing is blowing the dust in the air and it'll just resettle back onto the surface of your table.
Here's a good one too that's available on amazon for anyone reading. You can probably save 10-30$ looking elsewhere or finding a sale but this link should be in stock a lot.
I've been using an electric air blower to clean my Smart Grinder Pro for about 6 years. I use the Metro DataVac blower that I got from Amazon (no longer available, but similar models probably are).
I clean the grinder about once a month, or when I change the style of beans I'm grinding. I remove the hopper and upper burr, and then take it outside and blow from the top and bottom. That blower really effectively removes all grind dust. Then I wipe it clean with a damp paper towel and reassemble.
I haven't noticed any problems with the debris getting blown into the gear assembly. If that's happening, it hasn't caused me any issue.
I have one and I love it, haven't gone back to canned air. Mine feels like it's even more powerful than canned air, and those cans run out of propellent just so fast (Not to mention if you accidently tip them they spray out liquid, and the outside of the can frosts over if you spray for too long).
I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J4ZOAW/
I know that specific model isn't being sold anymore but there are many just like it as well as updated version of that model (Which I admit are also more expensive now)
This is the one i have. I like the adjustable airflow, and its generally more than enough for my needs. Highly recommend it
Depending on where you are, you could borrow my datavac. Way better than canned air and better for the environment.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J4ZOAW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This. I bought this 10 years ago and still works great!
This is what I ended up going with. 650 CFM may be a bit overkill but I didn't want to spend all day drying. I'd say to try it again with a full charge and see if you're satisfied with the drying time. If not, go for a more powerful one.
The one I linked also has an aftermarket stubby attachment with a silicone tip to prevent accidental scratches as well.
This is what I do, yes. Take it outside and blow the dust out of it with a can of compressed air. Not inside your house because the dust (and dog hair, in my house) will just get blown everywhere and end up back inside the case.
If do this often (and don't wanna keep buying cans of duster) you can get a high-powered electric duster, but they can actually kill the bearing in fans because the force of the air is really strong. You need to hold the fans still when using them.

I have been using this plug in air blower for the last 5 years. No issues, plenty of power, and good for multiple other tasks ; I air dry my rc's with this thing, dust out all my electronics, dust out my car before detailing it. Highly suggest saving up for one!
As a former PC repair guy. Nothing beat compressed air from an actual compressor with an air tool.
However in the office that was not an option so this became my best friend.

I'd assume it's many times more powerful than this little two in one unit. It's just a vacuum cleaner motor in a can ;)
I do like the idea of vacuuming if just light exterior cleaning, but any internal cleaning the force of moving air is much better.
As for the light exterior cleaning not once in my life has any normal vacuum let me down or fried something from static.
That ones out of stock... I bought this one in 2014 and other than damage from my dog (and the end being shorter because it got chewed up) still going strong. Same basic concept
