This is the license plate holder I use. I bought it to reduce the vibrations my plate felt from my subwoofer.
I went with this one. Great so far! Rightcar Solutions Flawless Silicone License Plate Frame - Rust-Proof. Rattle-Proof. Weather-Proof. - Black https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07CV5PLFM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_94BGENEHETJE9X1743M9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You could always go for one of the retractable ones. I don't know if that particular one is good - I'm just using it as an example.
You could leave it down 99% of the time and if you happen to get pulled over, you could probably play dumb and say you had it retracted to take some pictures and forgot to put it back up. Chances are they'd be cool with you just pulling the plate back out.
On amazon, they sell an adapter kit that goes in european holes. It has screws with rubber pieces. As you screw it in the rubber expands. Ive had it on for 8 months now with no issues.
Something like this...
This kit is perfect, comes with everything you need.

Now, just get this frameless black silicone plate holder. I have this on my car. Looks really good with my state issued blackout license plate, too.

Do you mean using the Japanese standard holes for a license plate? If so I bought mine on amazon. It came with 2 screws and you place the rubber screw expander first then the screw and its super sturdy. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EKVUJC8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was this kitAmazon
I think I might try the corksport mount soon because I had to put a rubber shim on the bracket to keep it from spinning easily.

I have had this on my car for over a year and it has done the trick. I got black hardware instead of what came with the kit, just for aesthetics, but you would hardly notice either way. This was nice if you like a symmetrical front end like myself.
if you are in the US/North America those holes may be the wrong distance apart. You need a plate adapter or you need to drill the bumper.
If you aren't in the US you need the inserts /u/Dacktid mentioned and they are called well nuts.
Well nuts that should fit are 10x24x3/8" and the screws to match. You can look up license plate delete hardware and that size to find some or visit your local hardware store.
I am using one from Amazon that was specifically for my year. It’s unavailable but you should be able to find one pretty easy.
This is the one I’m using.
Been using it for over two years and it’s held up nicely even after someone backed into me.
My dealer told me that I don't want them to drill into the bumper when I picked it up. Ended up picking up a JDM adapter plate on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EKVUJC8/
It's a simple plastic backing with expanding rubber fasteners. I stabilized it with some foam weatherstripping to ensure it doesn't wobble. I also got a recessed chrome frame from a local auto shop.
A center mounted plate looks better imho, asymmetry is not my thing.
So my state requires me to have it on as well which is pain; dealer never drilled holes which I'm fine with so I went right on amazon and found a $30 one. It's knock off and it works...but honestly I wish I spent the money on either the platypus plates or the one from US Milworks is really really good.
I went the cheap route and it's not the best but it does it's job
Thanks. The mount is from Amazon, the Platypus Tow Hook mount. Bought it at $79, it's now $93. Pricey but one time purchase.

I bought a silicone plate holder for my XSE after I saw it recommend a lot on Rav4World. It's been almost a year now and I've had zero issues with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CV5PLFM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LdqzFbGX4N37Y
I used a 20$ one from amazon. It has pretty good reviews and its been pretty sturdy. I hope this link works. Nilight Led Light Bar Mounting Bracket Front License Plate Frame Bracket License Plate Mounting Bracket Holder for Off-Road Lights LED Work Lamps Lighting Bars,2 Years Warranty
True, short of any other solution this is what I used:

I got this one for two plates. I found it was easier to place in the plate without using the provided tool. Aujen Silicone License Plate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YZFM2FQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Dealer already drilled holes in the front of mine, so I took off their dealer advertisement and used these plain rubber ones. I like them, prevents the license plate from coming in contact with the car and scratching it:
My last car before the Model Y was a Charger r/T bought on Carvana. They give you hideous "chrome", borderline illegal plate frames too. The first thing I did after taking delivery was removed them and replaced with these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DK1SZSF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Painting the frame can work too, but it'll probably cost more in spray paint and tape to ensure you don't overspray than the ones above.
I use these on my truck. I've always hated license plate frames, but I don't like the way the plates look just on their own either. This gives it a little bit more of a finished look, and also provides a layer between the plate and the car that won't leave scratches.
Bought this off Amazon and it is the right thread (M20) and puts my license plate where I want it on the front of the car, but holy hell is it too long. Any suggestions on brands that achieve the same goals while being the proper length?
This is an iJDM Toy License Plate relocation kit btw - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KB0SVT0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
You can access a lot of the grill area by removing the cover plate under the hood, and probably the plastic skid plate thing underneath the front end.
I bought one of these, but I'm not sure I like the look of it on. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073V2NDQY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got these and they're great, super clean look and prevents the plate from scratching the paint.

This one works really well for me
Also there vents with plastic flaps in your rear quarter panels/under you bumper that let out air pressure when you close the doors
EIGHT DICKS... just saw your car featured in a RegularCars video.
It should keep your plate from bending like that... otherwise sick build. I am also from NJ... hope to see you around or at some meets!
I grabbed these from Amazon, and have no issue with them as yet- figured if they don't end up great, it wasn't a huge investment
