Before he was a senator, Al Franken wrote a book called, "Lies: And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right".
It destroys Ann Coulter, and it's one of the most hilarious books I've ever read.

Law 52 (in my list) : Create your own kingdom
(Because no matter how hard you try, you will never have all your power playing someone else's game in some else's place).
This would have been rather obvious once upon a time, and civilization was built on this law, but the very fact it needs to be stated to a man is concerning.
Ok, no one's asking for a total disruption of modern civilization (it's kind of fucked up as it is), no one's telling you to be a poor team player either (cause no one can do everything in isolation), but a man must have an aspect of his life that he owns, in which he's king, and he pulls his load.
Modern society in that regard behaves like a cult - one defining feature of any destructive cult as per Steven Hassan (https://www.amazon.com/Combatting-Cult-Mind-Control-Best-selling/dp/0892813113/) - is that cults tend to reverse age fully functioning adults back into a childish state of dependency and validation (he calls it reverse aging, we know it as betaization) where they're enslaved to authority and can't think for themselves.
A man is meant to come full circle from a boy.
Start reading Combatting Cult Mind Control to learn more about how groups like the JWs manipulate their followers. It's a devastating organization and treacherous for the soul. Add in extra prayers and personal sacrifices for her. It's probably going to be a rough road.
You can get all three stories collected in one volume entitled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for less than $20 on Amazon.
This edition contains exclusive new artwork but has the original three stories in their original form.

Looks like you didn't google hard enough lol.
“Reality has a well-known liberal bias.” - Stephen Colbert
This is worth watching for an overview of the rise of right-wing media in the US:
Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them is a good read too.
Tell that to the people taking thumbprints and coming back fine. People react to those changes in chemistry extremely differently and there are steps that can be taken beforehand to mitigate problems, primarily in regards to knowing full well what is happening to you once you do it. Some people can handle it and some people can't. The 'mental fortitude' is the little voice in the back of your head telling you that it's not real and to calm down, take deep breaths, and focus on something else.
Not OP, but I found the same one, vinyl bound, on Amazon. It says it's 1,216 pages. It also says it's $20, which makes it literally $40 cheaper than at my local bookstore. 🤔
The graphic novels are actually pretty well done. They're faithful adaptations that don't really change anything, they just streamline the story a bit. But, by virtue of being adaptations, they're not canon for the novels.
Two years ago, I'd have told you to just go with the graphic novels since they were easier to find than the three separate anthologies containing the original stories, but now that all three of the original stories have been collected in a single volume that you can get for $18 on Amazon, I'd say go with that.
Plus, the new collected edition comes with original illustrations. Not the same as a graphic novel, but still cool.

If they're talking like that because George was trying to be shakespearean, then shouldn't he at least have made an effort to write the dialogue in iambic pentameter?
Way to be a lazy ass, Lucas. Ian Doescher had to pick up the slack for you.

It’s the cliff notes version of the Bible told in the modern vernacular and each book is a few pages long. It is SURPRISINGLY accurate to the historical and academic understandings of the text.
For example, the Book of Revelations is presented as what it really is: a tome of “fuck you, Rome!” writings written in code as to not get in trouble… not some grand prophecy of the 2nd coming of Christ.
Yeah, we'll learn more about his past years i think, but if you havent heard that this might interest you:

I recommend the Red Rising Saga (a trilogy).
They're a "near-future" Sci-Fi series, where humanity has begun to colonize other planets in the solar system. The story follows a "Red" miner of Mars and his story of revenge. The first book reminded me of a mash up of Hunger Games and Ender's Game. Highly recommend the saga as I couldn't put them down once I started reading them. Quickly became one of my favorite book series.
The first book has a 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon review with over 3,700 reviews. And a 4.26 on goodreads with over 14,000~ reviews.
I read through the series once then went back and listened to it on Audible later. I would recommend the audio-book as well as it was also well done.
Aside:
If people don't want to, or find the Bible hard to read - a good alternative is "God is Disappointed In You". It's a humourous abridged but somewhat accurate version of the Bible. Amazon link.
I own it and love it. Whilst I did read the Bible mostly cover to cover a few years ago (skipped the genealogy), this comedy version is a great refresher.
Long Walk is in the Backman Books and I actually have Dolores Claiborne but I was about to get rid of it because I heard it wasn’t great. I’ll have to keep that one then, thanks! The Dark Tower set is right here . It’s only $75 for a limited time before it goes back up to $150.Go to my account and I’ll post pictures of the books and the box itself (that’s the only way I can think of to do it because I don’t know how to use imgur sorry). Here’s the link to the Amazon account. The books themselves seem to stay in nice condition.
Here's the Amazon link to the paperback for $12.95

I listened to the audio version narrated by Alastair Duncan who voiced Mimir on Audible
King James. And no, it is terrible. It is definitely not meant to be read cover to cover. Books like Kings and Numbers are pointless slogs.
Edit: if you are intent on doing it I’d advise you to pick a modern easier to read version. Unless you were the type of person who loved reading Shakespeare in high school.
I’d recommend this version. https://www.amazon.com/God-Disappointed-You-Mark-Russell/dp/1603090983
> Lies and the lying liars who tell them
That brings back fond memories. For those who don't know, that is the (partial) title of a book by Al Franken. https://www.amazon.com/Lies-Lying-Liars-Balanced-Right/dp/0452285216#reader_0452285216
Having only seen the show for The Witcher (don’t have funds for the books yet!) and only a vague plot synopsis of American Gods, I’m gonna throw out the book series I’ve been consumed by for the last year: The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Yes, as in “that horror guy.” It’s different than anything else he’s written by a long shot. It’s a dark fantasy/Western/dystopian sci-fi hybrid. The main character is essentially John Wayne meets King Arthur, which is also a pretty good plot synopsis. Very unpredictable in a good way, with a (personally) super satisfying ending. Whole series can be bought here:
A warning, though: the first book is not very representative of the series as a whole. It’s more of a prologue to the main story. The pacing shifts from the first to the second book, with the first being more about setting up the world and atmosphere for the series. In other words, power through the first book and onto the second. If the second doesn’t hook you by the end of part 1, feel free to give up, since it may not be for you.
Another note: Stephen King has tied the series into a number of his works. I don’t know your tastes regarding horror, but the only ones that I would consider essential are Salem’s Lot and Insomnia. Insomnia’s more of a thriller and not as necessary as Salem’s Lot. (A character from SL appears in Dark Tower, which is why it’s pretty essential.) Both should probably be read between books 4 and 5. The midquel, Wind through the Keyhole, that King wrote after the series could be skipped and saved for later or read between Insomnia and Salem’s Lot. I have a more extended list I can comment if you’re interested.
I would personally suggest for you to start with The Rogue Prince novella and it's immediate sequel, The Princess and the Queen. TPATQ was published first, but chronologically TRP comes first. They begin in the year 103AC and cover the Dance of the Dragons between half siblings Aegon II and Rhaenyra Targaryen.
TRP was published in the anthology book Rogues by GRRM and Gardner Dozois. TPATQ was published in the anthology book Dangerous Women by GRRM and Gardner Dozois as well. Both can also be found online in PDF format.
Then I would move onto the three Dunk and Egg novellas. In order, they are: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. They begin in the year 209AC and follow the journey of Aegon V (Egg) as a child squiring for Ser Duncan the Tall.
The three D&E novellas were orginially published in 3 separate anthology books by GRRM, but on October 6th they're being published in one book to be titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is available on Amazon for pre-orders.
I would definitely read The World of Ice and Fire last, as it contains spoilers for the Dance of the Dragons and the D&E novellas. Timeline wise, the Dance novellas come before D&E, which is why I suggest reading them first but really either way is fine. I'm just a stickler for chronology.
I would recommend that you check out the concept of "Love Bombing" and how cults utilize this concept to manipulate and control their members.
I would also recommend you read Battling Mind Control by Steven Hassan to have a better understanding of the psychology of indoctrination and coercion.
