I've had these for 5 years and they work well with my Ariat boots with a tight fit because they suck up under the arches.

What kind of socks do you wear?
Also, you may want to go back to your normal size in the spin shoe. Making your shoe longer is not really going to help with swelling. And I've always been told that cycling shoes need to fit snugly - I think because you don't want your feet moving around in them.
I've very specifically, this time around, worn socks that I thought would alleviate or at least mitigate the problem. Adidas Traxion, (maybe not that exact pair, there are a few with that moniker) but nope.
To be clear, it's two blisters on each of my big toes, where my calluses used to be, about quarter sized near the outside bottom, by the interphalangeal joint. Similar to this guy's only not bloodied.
Dress shoes?
Okay I really like these socks or these.
or
Drymax is over the calf but has a toe seam which I hate and trimmed with scissors which makes it better
Darn tough is seamless but only mid calf so they slide down my calves a bit which is a little annoying.
Both keep my feet dry for hours a day and I personally don't feel like I have to wash them unless I wore them 4-5 days straight and don't smell.
I also have real leather shoes which absorb moisture better and can breath a little more than fake leather.
Cotton or practically any other socks just have my feet swimming in moisture. Especially in dress shoes.
Yeah I figured they crinkle up like that when they get old. I'd probably stick with some nice wool hiking socks to fill the empty space instead. I like these
I've been considering water proof socks and keeping my nike boots. I honestly love them for every day/hiking/airsoft...
Here's the socks I'm considering. The reviews are incredibly high! http://www.amazon.com/Dexshell-Coolvent-Mid-Calf-Waterproof-Socks/dp/B00IS5RHAA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1455044401&sr=8-5&keywords=waterproof+sock
These are the best socks to get, they're thinner than the boot socks and they work perfectly for work socks or casual socks. You can buy 5 of these and be set for life.
