What about a hammock on a stand? They collapse down small, but still very comfortable for sleeping (source: have slept in hammock on a stand).
ETA: Like this.
Also, as a teacher, I GUARANTEE the thing he will appreciate most is a letter from you, his students. Did you do a production of a play that was particularly significant, or study a playwright that he helped you fall in love with? Buy a copy of that play, and have each of you sign/write a message on the book covers/pages of the play. He will always remember you, and the time you guys all spent together.
I am almost the exact size as you, I'm a little taller. I use a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with the standard suspension. Being as tall as you are 11 foot is a must for a comfortable night's sleep. When camping there would be no room for second person in the Blackbird.
While hanging out in the back yard I have a Vivere hammock hooked to tree and metal clothes line post. My wife and I lay in it every nice day with no problems. Here's a link to Amazon and it includes a stand. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004YJCP7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_EmXRzb2P4D9PV
I would discourage you from using 4x4s. Before I got my clothes line post I tried to use a 4x4 and it snapped off at the ground and hit me in the head. It hurt quite a bit and I felt like an asshole.
I wanted a grill, but I wasn’t sure I would use one enough to make it worth the cost. I bought a tabletop one from Amazon. I love it. It is big enough to grill a couple of small pieces of meat and some veggies. It takes the tiny bottles of propane you can pick up at the hardware store. It’s portable if I ever decide to take it on the road!
Mr. smells got me this last year and this, along with a different gift, has earned him the title of Best Gift Giver. I don’t love the look of a standing hammock, but it’s so comfy and cozy and super easy to put together and take apart for winter. It’s the best. The color he got was out of stock for a bit, and I think a few may be now, but there are a ton of color options.

Then no that's not safe for snails, please don't use it.
Soil for snails should be additive and fertilizer free. This product is advertised as plant food, which means it definitely has additives and likely fertilizers too.
I solved my dove problem, by the way!
1) Only put unshelled peanuts in tray feeders -- doves don't go for them.
2) Get a weight sensitive feeder like https://www.amazon.com/Squirrel-Buster-Standard-Perches-Capacity/dp/B00ABGSX4S which will shut when they land on it if you set the spring weight properly
They'll learn soon there's nothing for them
Updates on my anti dove measures:
I've finally won! I bought a squirrel buster
And calibrated it to about dove weight. When they come, they weigh down the feeder and shut the door, but sparrows and finches have no problem. Dove finish off the sunflower seeds left on the ground by messy sparrows.
I had some cardinals weeks ago but they've all but vanished. Hopefully the persistence of the feeder encourages them to come back for some delicious daily sunflower.
First, a feeder like this:
I'm in Harvard Sq and have about 10 different species looking for food. The largest that can use the actual feeder are Blue Jays. The Mourning Doves and Pigeons walk around underneath waiting for the Sparrows and Cardinals, etc., to toss them extras from pecking at the feeder. The rarest I've seen are red-wing blackbirds.

This is the hammock stand I use outside, I’m sure it would also work indoors if you have the space. 🙃 the hammock itself lasted a few years of being outside all year. It finally got to that brittle crackly moldy stage so I replaced just the hammock with another one from the same brand.
If you are going to get the stand only, I’d recommend getting your hammock out of storage first and measuring it to make sure it fits. I tried buying a cheaper hammock separately for my stand and it was too short so I returned it and purchased the same hammock that comes with the stand.
Don't yell. I co-teach in a room with 50 kids. The other teacher yells frequently. I don't. I can control the room and she can't. She nearly has an anxiety attack daily because of it.
You have to come up with your own system of rewards and consequences that the students actually care about individually. I take my 8th graders outside once per week to just play sports or do whatever they want on the track. They know that when I ring my high pitched chime, they have three seconds to stop talking. If they don't, I write down the names of the offenders and they don't go out at the end of the week. You should get some kind of high pitched noise because everyone hears it regardless of volume. If you try to use your voice, you have to be louder than the entire class and it's hard to do that without yelling. I use this one
The trick is to not let anyone know who is on the list until right before you go outside. Otherwise kids who are on the list will just say fuck it and torture you all week. They won't remember talking at an inappropriate time, so I make sure to write down "Jeremias -- talking to Alyssa after chime," in case they accuse me of lying.
Also, and this is where I disagree with the top comment--do not use blanket punishments. If 20 kids are doing great and the same 5 kids fuck it up for everyone, not only is it not fair to punish the 20 kids, but they will stop caring because they'll know there is a high chance that they're going to lose their privilege anyway through no fault of their own.
The more thoughtful conferences all tend to use one of these instead of mic tapping. For $11, I'm starting to think I might have to get one for the gig bag.
Depending on the style of hammock, that’s not a risk. The two times I’ve done it were in something like this-
https://www.amazon.com/Vivere-Double-Hammock-Space-Saving-Tropical/dp/B004YJCP7O
Really hard to fall out of! If you’re thinking about the style where there are bars at each end holding the cloth flat, that could be…interesting.
Have you ever tried one of these spring-loaded feeders? Solved my squirrel problems permanently.
I've got this one here, a little pricey but it works very well.
That makes a lot of sense. For me, the game changer was realizing that the cocoon style ones are much easier to get in and out of, and much more comfortable as well. Specifically, I got this one because of the first review, which is from a 450 pound lady who was kind enough to post multiple pics of her and her similarly large friends enjoying it.

But your worries and concerns are totally valid as well, I just wanted to suggest this as a possible option in case you’d only ever been on a rigid style hammock before.
I have this freestanding hammock stand which is amazing and has held up through 3yrs of being outside year-round as well as 5 camping festivals!
I've had to replace the hammock itself due to weather damage but the frame is good as new.
Smart release fertilizer. It lets out only as needed so doesn’t burn your plants and keeps on giving as needed until harvest.
I’ll probably get some downvotes from some folks. But all these once per week feedings w/overpriced fertilizer just keeps the capitalist wheel spinning. Save a huge amount of money using something you can get from Home Depot and get larger plants with far less fuss. I went the cheap amazon route and bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YJCP7O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've had it for a little over a year and it holds my 6'2" 300lb body very comfortably. Many a summer nap had in the hammock
It's in the greenhouse, and has been moved from shelf 4 (summer) to shelf 2 (winter). I have 30% shade cloth up, and it gets maybe 4 hours of full sun in the winter.
I slept on this for quite some time, and I would 100% go back to it as a bed replacement. The only downside is it can get a bit chilly in winter (was fine with a sleeping bag, though I ended up going back to a bed because I love using heated mattress cover). If you adjust the angle you sleep at, you can flatten it until it feels comfortable.

The squirrels won't warn each other, they all will have to find out on their own. Hot sauce should definitely keep some of them away, it just makes me uncomfortable knowing they are in pain. I was doing this for 2 weeks with ghost pepper hot sauce and felt bad after, my squirrels were only dazed and none rubbed their snouts on the floor. the hot sauce was 800K scoville, I cant imagine what scoville yours must be to evoke that kind of reaction
having already tried it, I don't think its good strategy for keeping them off the feeders. we have one squirrel who would lick the fucking hot sauce off like it was no problem. Its possible some individuals are immune / they have a tolerance or even taste for capsaicin.
squirrels proof feeders ^((this feeder works great and i got it for 18$ at Lowes),) good placement, and feeder covers have almost completely solved my squirrel problem even with my feeders hanging from trees.
Using the other methods I've mentioned, I've been able to keep 8/9 of the frequent squirrels off my feeders. The individual that can still make it on one of my feeders, has very hard time getting any food. And usually the grackles and jays get sick of his shit when he's blocking the feeder and pester him off.
so all in all, the hot sauce was messy, didn't entirely work, and made me feel bad. But, this is just one opinion, its possible someone else has had different experiences with hot sauces.
good luck with ya birbs.

I love it, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you need something small.
I bought the stand and the hammock together off amazon.

Honestly, I would toss the bed and buy a hammock stand + hammock. Something like this, or maybe this stand with any double-width Brazilian style hammock.
I once spent a year sleeping in a hammock and it was honestly the best sleep I've ever had. If you sleep the right way (at an angle: not aligned with the long axis of the hammock, but about 45 degrees off from it), the hammock flattens out beneath you and supports your back perfectly. Plus you're hanging, so the unlevel floor would not matter. It's great.
Weird strategy, I know.
this is the one I bought I'm pretty sure. very comfy happy hammocking
[I have been sleeping on the vivere hammock and stand bought off amazon for 80 bucks since 2012. Luckily my wife is understanding of how uncomfortable the bed is for me so I still sleep in it, mostly in the summer though.
I have one of these. It holds up to 450 pounds, apparently. I don’t think you can buy just the stand without the hammock, though.
Also, that one so many people link to, the Vivere 9’ Brazilian with a “space saving stand” actually says the total length is 130”, which is almost 11 feet. So, maybe that is the 11 footer? Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YJCP7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_UUr0CbVR2GQK5
