I hope someone from the team reads this. I bought in awhile back and I really believe in the project. I seriously, seriously think you should throw money at the wall and grab a simple Blue Yeti and set it to bi-directional / conversation on the physical dial. This would make Stephen's presentations much much higher quality immediately. Please pass this to the team.
Fifine has a cardioid microphone that is a good, cheap, and easy to start with.

I've been using it for months now and it's amazing. When i first saw the price I thought it was probably just cheap trash but it's actually better than most popular blue yetis and is close to xlr quality mics. Check out some reviews if you don't believe me.
Please also note microphones only do well if your soundcard is decent quality or you have a mixer.
Your link leads to a different color. I think this one will work.
I would say good price, but Amazon and probably the driver will probably expect you to tip. Still makes it lower than Black Friday Price. Then again, some colors are below Black Friday pricing on the regular site right now too, which is a bit hilarious seeing how much attention the Black Friday sale got.
YMMV to get it for cheaper (The discount today is 17% off, so my pre-tax total was $70.54):
Go here or to any Blue Yeti model over $100 (currently only the blackout non bundle edition) that has the Amazon Harmony discount:
Click the "Save up to 17% on most brands shipped and sold by Amazon by speaking with an Amazon Harmony associate." link and enter your phone number.
They'll email you a code that you can apply prior to checkout onto the Blackout Origins bundle that is posted.
I ordered the Blue Yeti Blackout Edition earlier today off of the Amazon Prime Now site for $66.02 shipped.
It began at $71.09 and then I used the 10PRIMENOW code for an extra $10 off. This left me, after taxes, at $66.02 shipped. Not to mention that Prime Now got it to my door in two hours.
So, you can give this link a try, if you're looking for a mic at a similar price point. https://primenow.amazon.com/dp/B00N1YPXW2?m=A1VPEJV7O66L91&qid=1482086910&sr=1-0&ref_=pn_sr_sg_0_img_A1VPEJV7O66L91
If the class is going to be online or have online components, then a USB microphone would be great. It makes a significant difference in the audio quality. I use one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/
If he has an iPad that he might use for grading (many of the online course systems have an app), then an apple pencil can make grading go even more smoothly.
A massage or something that he really enjoys would also be a great thing mid-semester. I know the pandemic complicates everything, but man would a massage be nice right now.
But most importantly I think just your understanding and patience, especially if there's an online component. It seems like there are 10x more emails and fires to be put out. It's been hard for my friends and family to adapt to my new work schedule...

For political science specifically, if he's planning to incorporate current events, a list of places to get reliable news would be great. I get a lot of mine from key reporters I follow on Twitter, from NPR and certain local news sources. Maybe collecting a list of those resources could help?
theres actually a kinda kit that has that mic, but it also has a mic arm, a shock mount(I believe) and a pop filter(again, I think) and some other stuff.
Edit: Link
Very cool vid. Your editing is on point and interesting! One thing that would help move your video to a higher quality bracket is a mic. I have a blue yeti, and if you stick with your channel, I recommend something along those lines (basically every streamer/youtuber has one at this point). Entry level though I was very suprised by these lavalier mics. They were $20 and i just bought for a one time thing, but they actually sounded super good and there are two in the pack. Keep up the good work!

I bought this mic it’s pretty decent it picks up sound and all but if you use discord noise canceling and or nvida broadcasting it’s pretty good
Never heard of it but looks similar to this one which is pretty good. Hey man,
Make an Amazon Wishlist and set it to the public (Really great instructions here)
https://www.amazon.com/Condenser-Microphone-Recording-Interface-K669/dp/B06XCKGLTP
Add that microphone and let me know when you have and I will buy it and ship it to you without having to know your address.
I'd love to see your video quality go up.
Slap some more gear on there like a 1080p webcam or a ring light and a green screen.
Maybe some more people from the /r/outriders community will join in, too.
And be sure to join the Discord!
Audio Technica AT2020USB+
It's on sale on Amazon atm for $120, so you could throw in something extra like a pop filter for example and still be in your budget.
I do amateur filmmaking a bit, for traveling around a Blue Snowball mic is really nice. Amazon Link Here
Really portable, quality is not bad, and if it gets fcked up no big deal fairly cheap. Don't know how easy it is for you to bring stuff when you're traveling but could be an option
love your streams regardless keep it up :)
I use mine all the time. It is paired with my MacBook Pro. I use it as my "headset" for the whole spectrum of virtual conferencing and webinar apps, including FaceTime. As a microphone, it works too-- but I have a near-broadcast-quality USB mic that my audiences seem to much prefer.
I really don't understand why folks stick with the mini-mic for interfacing with their computers when every computer/tablet/phone has Bluetooth these days. Headphone sockets are going the way of floppy-disk drives, so we should get used to the coming reign of our Bluetooth overlords, hm?
My phone clip is paired with my tablet, my Apple Watch, my Kindle... (but not my iPhone any longer, as my new N7s connect to that directly, but prior to those, my N6s were linked too).
Anyway, I can attest that the Phone Clip works brilliantly for teleconferencing and webcasting.
All my subs and all my friends said I needed a new mic. I bought this $30 mic. and since then I’ve had people asking how I only have 80 subs or telling me I’m going to be big. Like people who’ve never seen the channel before.
XLR is a type of audio plug I guess. It's mostly used in higher end microphones, and provides a lot more versatality and is more professional. USB is more for ease of use
Can never go wrong with the at2020
I paid 30 bucks for a mic that was comparable to the Yeti Snowball and a couple of reviewers actually liked it better. Most important thing with sound is the have the mic as close to your mouth as possible and take advantage of noise reduction in your editing software or in Audacity. Here is a link to mine

I've been really enjoying this one for voice:
it's high now, but i bought mine for 79.99 a couple of years ago and have been using it ever since. Warning - NOT usb. It's meant to use with an interface which can be hinderingly expensive.
If you're wanting to go usb around $100, i'd just grab a yeti or a snowball
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_iPSUFb05WHRG0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I’ve really liked it, it’s not the best microphone in the world by any means but it gets the job done, it sounds much better on low volume than high for sure :)
The AT2020 should come with a tiny little desk tripod, check the second picture. This one seems pretty expensive TBH, I think we got it from either a local shop or from these guys for just under 100 quid. It might have been on sale though, I'm surprised to see the price has gone up. I've found some slightly cheaper ones on ebay, but still around £110. Be careful you don't buy the XLR one that's listed on amazon for £85 instead of the USB one.
Amazon prime now is not available in 97% of all towns, cities, and villages. My comment was without any extra promos considered.
But yes your comment is valid if you can use that promo.
Also the blackout is 71.99 for me right now
I picked up the Audio Technica AT2020+ USB microphone right now and it's pretty damn good for what I'm using it for. I got it for $148 on Amazon.
Yeeeee Blackout Blue Yeti! I paid full price for mine but they are $90 on Amazon right now!
For a small and simple mic check out the Samson Go Mic. $32 on Amazon and overall great quality (https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Portable-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B001R76D42). This is what I use to record all my audio.
If you do buy this or another mic to send your guests, include a description on how to use it and set up the proper audio level settings.
So I actually have gone through a lot of mic trouble recently. I bought the blue yeti mic (~130) and it broke on me and I can’t return it, which is super annoying cause it was a bit of an investment for me.
I then got this 30 dollar mic on amazon which I used to do my voiceover in my solar video https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it worked out better then I thought. It’s not as sensitive as the blue yeti, but it did really well for voice over narration, it’s not broken, and it’s cheaper. I’m not sure how it would do for things other then narration.
I also bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008AOH1O6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to avoid the puffing sound that comes from when you speak into a mic close up.
Good luck with your videos! I’ll subscribe and look out for more.
Your flow is dope for sure, very modern sounding. Stop wasting your time w/that mic tho! Look on YouTube for a budget microphone review. I personally use the Audio Technica AT2020 Cardiod Condensor Studio Mic 3-pin XLRM-type and it has been a solid investment.

I recommend this one if you’re just getting started
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but normally when stuff like this happens it's gonna save u a lot of time and money to just get an external mic. For a nice, quality, budget option, I would recommend the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gLqvFb6H6Y4P1
