Here it is on amazon

No, you didn't say you had a mesh seat, or the Amazon Basics chair had a mesh seat, or the Ikea chair, or that you don't like mesh seats. You didn't address the chair material at all, that's apples to oranges. At least some in this thread are comparing OP chair to the Staples Hyken Technical Mesh Chair ($145), which is very similar.
If a leather cushion breathes (expels air when squished and inhales on release), that absorbs odors. Not sure how a see-thru web-mesh can absorb smells like that, but whatever.
Omg so I thought it was going to be shorter but you are correct. I’m going to have to get OFM Core Collection Stool Drafting Kit, 19" Diameter Foot Ring, 9" and 12" Extenders, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001770K2I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9S8Q6JHKTHSG171CE3K5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Honestly for a chair you're going to be working in 8 hours a day, you'll probably want an ergonomic chair. Everyone I've known with a gaming chair has said they're not comfortable for more then a few hours. I got this one when I was looking and absolutely love it for working from home 3 days a week, had it since 2020 and it's still in great shape and just as comfy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OCSNMO2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_E4PEA00EHKGKS6WD16JM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use an Raynor Ergohuman. I only need to replace a single armrest after owning it for 6 years and using it every day.
You will not regret getting into spendy ergo chairs like Ergohuman and Herman Miller.
Try the Hyken from Staples if you're not insane like me.
It was really easy in my state to apply for the placard. I did a search for "disability parking placard" and my state and found a two page form on our dept of public health website. I filled out one small section and my doctor another and I put it in the mail. Not sure how long it'll take to come in, but it'll be a big help, especially when I have to go to hospitals for tests.
We're living on processed foods here too or things I can throw in the air fryer, instant pot, or crock pot. I did find that buying a rolling chair to use in the kitchen made a huge difference in how much I can get done though. I found this one that's supposed to be used at a drafting table so it's perfect for working at counter height. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0039MIMRE/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_5KFAHWHNY1085E37B8MA
For post covid clinics, definitely check out the SurvivorCorps website. I found my current one on there and several others I didn't even know had opened.
> he same garbage for the most part. It's either "mega comfy leather chair that starts peeling within a year" or "cushioning is gone within a few months"
^^^ this man gets it. Get on craigslist and buy the best chair money can buy. Lots of companies are closing their office so getting one of fb/craigslist is easy. setup alerts for tbe the first.
Herman Miller Aeron
I use this at work. It's not bad also. https://www.amazon.com/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Chair-Black/dp/B00OCSNMO2
Haha, thanks for the suggestion -- I will see if I can find any in my area !
I totally get that -- chairs are so highly personal. But, to be fair, this is the other chair I have been considering getting to have something decent, quick and cheap.. although I am sure the Herman Miller is much better quality wise.
Now that I look at it again, it’s a three legged bar stool with a hole in the middle of the circle top and for the rod and a hole in the triangle piece in the middle. Make a shorter stool and put the dowel in with a square top. Something like this without the threaded dowel and a square top

Exactly, I had one of the shop stools from Western Tool and it always felt like it was gonna throw me plus there isn't much seat to begin with. I got the below chair last year and it's way more comfortable and much sturdier than my last one, downside is the price seems to have gone way up since then. https://www.amazon.com/Office-Star-Sculptured-Pneumatic-Adjustable/dp/B0039MIMRE
I had this chair for the my sewing craft room and computer desk area. I really liked it and the nice thing about it is the arms raise which I found to be great!
Unfortunately I am in the same boat. My chair currently is not tall enough. However I am going to order this to make it high enough.

Thinking of putting this on and getting the 3 inch wheels. I already have a foot rest and a cushion. Other than that I’ll just have to get a new chair. The risers are 4 inches!! But I do love the look of.

One of my brothers has this, I found it to be pretty comfortable:
Don't waste your money on a standing desk. I bought one and found that the 30-60 seconds waiting for the desk to up or down took me out of my flow state.
Instead, here is a cheaper/better solution that works for me.
I got a tall desk (at a comfortable height to work when standing) and then got a drafting chair extension kit ($40 at Amazon - Amazon.com: OFM Core Collection Stool Drafting Kit, 19" Diameter Foot Ring, 9" and 12" Extenders, Black: Furniture & Decor ) and added it to my existing office chair so I could work comfortably at my new tall desk. You can buy height adjustable desks at Ikea or Amazon (many are hand crank adjustable) for a lot less than the motorized sit/stand desk.
So now, when I want to stand, I simple hoop off my chair, keep working and stay in the flow state.
When I want to sit I just sit on the chair and keep working.
It works perfectly for me.
Might work for you.
Don't buy a gaming chair, they're terrible for your posture. Look on amazon or any office supply store for ergo task chairs. They're a lot better for your body for long sessions. Something like this going to be way cheaper than a gaming chair and better for you in the long run.

It is a Staples Hyken chair. It seems Staples doesn't carry it on their site anymore which is a bummer because I have had two of these and they are fantastic for the price. Got it for around 120$. Seems they have some on Amazon though they are more expensive, here.
Have you checked the catalogue of the manufacturer of your chair?
If they don’t sell one, you can find generic footrings: e.g. 20" Chrome Foot Rest Ring for Drafting Stool or Office Chair - S4165-3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CEJR3IC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SPtyFb01FWNYH
I have this one (for the intended chair, but depending on the measurements of your chair’s lift, you may be able to find a better one than the screw in kind I linked above that fits): https://www.fully.com/hag-stepup-footring.html
Here is what we use in our office I personally have no complaints, but it is a chair from amazon.
OFM Drafting Kit for Computer Task Chairs, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001770K2I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lavDDbTMVWDBQ This is what I used cause I have short legs and didnt want them dangling. Bit more than I remembered but still decent.
If someone is looking for a cheaper option, consider this guy. I went with a mesh bottom so that my farts could pass through with ease, in addition to avoiding swamp ass. Had it for a couple years and no signs of wear after daily use, and it's decently adjustable. I's sure you can find it cheaper than this link as well. https://www.amazon.com/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Chair-Black/dp/B00OCSNMO2
Might I suggest one of these!
The chair goes up pretty high because it's for a standing desk, so it might be more comfortable
Gonna get in here since the discussion is about chairs:
I'm setting up a large drafting style table to be my hobby area. It will have a computer set up at it.
The table is higher than any standard desk, so I will need a drafting chair - similar to this one:
Anyone have any recommendations on a chair? I'm just looking for something reasonable sturdy and comfortable.
Another option to utilize a fixed standing desk w/ a drafting chair. I work in an industrial printing environment and use this setup.
buy a 40" high fixed standing desk: https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Natural-40-inch-Standing-Desk/9731033/product.html
and then use a drafting stool:
I know it's not for everyone, (I'm 5'11" and stand more than I sit at work) but can be a ~$250 solution.
I have the hyken chair (http://www.amazon.com/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Chair-Black/dp/B00OCSNMO2)
It is also cheaper at staples' website.
It has a headrest built in and seems like a durable and comfortable chair for it's price range. I have had a great experience with it the past year. It fits my 250 pound dad comfortably but may not fit you well if you are too tall or too short depending on the nature of the slightly adjustable headrest.
I have the Staples Hyken office chair, and it is extremely comfortable and only $135 on Amazon right now. The mesh is slightly springy which makes for an extremely nice feeling chair, and you won't overheat sitting in it for long periods of time. Unfortunately it doesn't have an adjustable headrest, so it won't work for everyone. The arm rests also only have two settings, high or low. BUT, if those two things don't bother you it is awesome.
Yep I'm trying to sell my chair to buy a new one. I made the mistake of buying this one but it's more for people who are 100% on the computer (if you don't sit perfectly in this chair, the bottom part pushes against your lower back). Reading textbooks and studying is impossible with this chair since looking down at your desk is not an option
I use this. It's fine for my needs, though I couldn't say how confortable it is for long term use, since I only use it for about 30 minutes at a time.
If you can't find a better option, check out hybrid office-drafting chairs. They still have the HYDRAULICS in them, however their lowest setting is close to or above the height of a normal office chair's highest setting.
Have a standing-level desk that is not adjustable at work. I had it built so that the top surface is at elbow level, which means that when I'm standing, my forearms are 90deg from my upper arm. I find this to be pretty comfortable.
I have my imac/second monitor on some risers (will be using adjustable arms mounted to the desk soon)
I was using an anti-fatigue mat as well (got damaged by water, haven't re-purchased) that helps with your feet and lifts you up an additional 3/4in or so.
Overall - I found it too expensive to go with an adjustable desk, so I went with a permanently standing desk combined with a sturdy drafting chair (http://www.amazon.com/Space-Seating-AirGrid-Drafting-Chair/dp/B006F9BWHA) with adjustable arms, foot ring and chair back so that I can alternate between sitting and standing.
