I know its a bit over budget but it makes you hit those so its worth it
My gaming chair comes with drift so it just happens sometimes
Morning. I got the whole bed to myself last night! The hubs was over on the coast watching the manned launch. I was watching the inside of my eye lids. I do really like launches but not ones that early in the AM.
Wobble stool arrived yesterday and the hubs put it together for me. Huh I paid $79.99. Amazon pricing is weird. It's a bit too high for the ~~dinning~~ work at home desk but it's tons of fun. I had the hubs move it to the living room so I could use it instead of the couch on the weekend. It's also adjustable to work with standing desks.
Today is hunting down new tile. I really like the concrete look but I think tile might be easier. From what I've read concrete is at a minimum a three day process. Oh and not working! Whoop whoop 3 day weekend.
Alright need to get started making more IBIH green smoothies. Have a fantastic Friday!
Vestil CPRO-800LP Ergonomic Worker Seat/Chair, 13-1/2" Width, 10" Depth, 300 lb. Capacity, 18" - 33" Height Range https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0052PJFCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cQtQBbDSCS9CR
I use this and absolutely love it. It isn't the cheapest chair ever but it might be the best money I've ever spent in astronomy.
My grandmother had one, too! I loved to sit in it, so tall!
They still make these, Cost Co sells them
Cosco Retro Counter Chair/Step Stool, Sliding, Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000B35GY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_KmiIFbBANBBDY
I cannot recommend a drafting stool highly enough. going from a chair to a tall stool that swivels is like upgrading to VR all over again. this is the one I got from Amazon, originally for use with my standing desk.
I use this one with my Z10. I'm 6'1" 245lb and it so far it's been fine capacity wise. The Starbound has a padded seat, probably a bit more comfortable.
That being said, I've also used a plain folding chair and it's been fine. I've only used the scope with the base on the ground though, not elevated like your pic. I love your scenery!
I’ve been thinking of buying those wobble stools with rounded bases to alternate between standing and leaning for a standing desk.
Sitting is rly killing me.
Apparently, still sold. Or some version of it.
Oh gosh, you could REALLY do it up by posing on one of those keen step stool/chairs that everyone had, reaching up to put that pot away, and the fan UH OH blowing your apron up! Golly, gee whiz, however did that happen?! Wink wink.
Do you have anything in front of the LR to help her get in? I have found that reluctant adult cats do best with a sturdy stool or ramp as opposed to the LR stairs or just the step.
Here are the 2 that I can highly recommend after training 11 adults to use my LR3 units.
$12 Rubbermaid One Step Stool - comes in multiple colors https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Step-Stool-FG275300CYLND-Small/dp/B00NCNW3CA/
$60 Pet Gear Ramp (Essential Gray oval end) - my cats love this ramp sooo much that they would only use the LR3 with the ramp, and wouldn't use the other units until I bought 2 more ramps. And it catches a TON of litter.

Do you have the stairs? My cats hated them, but do very well with this $12 stool. They wouldn't use it without the stool though. (Stool comes in gray or bisque to match your LR). Also, she might not like the smell of what you are using to clean the globe. I just use blue Dawn and water.

I've successfully trained 11 adult cats and found that adding this $12 stool made a huge difference for the scaredy cats. It gives them a wider, more secure base to stand on and examine the LR globe, and then feel more comfortable entering/exiting. I later upgraded to the Pet Gear ramp which catches a lot of litter, but it's currently $70 (it was $40 when I bought it).

FYI that not all cats like the LR stairs because they are not securely attached, and I have found that they don't really like the access angle when they are new users. (I have trained 11 adults and own 4 LR3s)
I have 2 recommendations for you...both have worked extremely well for my cats, and were essential to their successful training.
The $12 Rubbermaid Stool is also a great option, especially for new LR users. It gives them a wider platform to stand on and peer into the LR globe as they become familiar with it, and it is extremely stable. My cats would often sit on it after doing their business in the LR, and clean themselves. I later upgraded to the ramp below because I had a cat with a degenerative spinal issue.
The $60 Pet Gear Ramp is by far my cats' favorite and it catches a TON of litter. In fact, I bought 1 and and they actually stopped using the other LRs until I bought a step for each of them!
Came to say this. You need a drafting chair. here’s a link to the one I’ve used since 2017. It does the job, but the foot ring hurts the feet if you don’t wear shoes and I guess I’d like a little more back support. Obviously, you don’t get arm rests with these types of chairs.
Do you have the stairs? Whether you do or not, I would recommend this $11 Rubbermaid Stool. It is much broader and more stable, and helped the more reluctant of the 11 cats I have trained to finally convert. That included a nearly blind senior, a super skittish weirdo, and an indoor feral.
I just got this one. Used it on three performances so far and it's wonderful. Folds completely flat. It's a tiny bit heavy and awkward, but having a flat stool in the car, comfortable height, and easy adjustment easily makes up for it.
I have a retro step stool/chair in my kitchen; something like this stool combo. I just leave it out, and I can sit during meal prep or doing dishes, as well as reach the high things.
Oh yeah, that thing boosts me up high. And it's very sturdy. I think it'll be useful for even higher countertops, though I couldn't say for sure as mine are a bit lower.
This is it is anyone's curious: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I3ZRQM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I work in a research heavy tech job. Organization and environment are key;
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I3ZRQM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - seems like price shot up - it was $90 with tax when I bought it a couple years ago.
Good call on removing the stairs....they just aren't stable enough and many cats are scared of them.
So some background...I have 3 LRs (plus an extra backup, lol) and have trained 11 adult cats to use the LR. Some were really fast, and one neurotic cat took 4 months. But I found that a step stool or a ramp with a platform that they felt comfortable standing on and looking down into the LR made a HUGE difference in speeding up their adoption.
I have 2 options for you...both work, but the ramp is AMAZING and fits like it was made for the LR. I bought 1 ramp, and my cats liked it so much that they actually stopped using the 2 LRs that didn't have a ramp, until I bought 2 more, sigh. My advice is to purchase one of these, and sell your steps.
Active means you work your core sitting in them. They vary between stools you lean on through to chairs with some back support but not enough to lean back, just enough to support your lower back. You want something that doesn't allow you to slouch.
I'm at the extreme end and use one like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GXT9HXN/ that works either when I'm sitting at my desk or something to lean against if I'm standing. It took me about two weeks to get used to it, used to use an expensive ergonomic chair but after a couple of herniated discs my orthopedist suggested avoiding chairs.
You may have seen the saddle chairs at doctors offices, they do basically the same thing so that's also an option.
If you happen to have a yoga ball about and some way to stop it rolling that's another type of active sitting and a good way to figure out if it's something you might like.
Also worth considering a sit & stand desk (or at least a stand that can transition). If you do go this route and don't wear shoes at your desk make sure to get a standing mat otherwise your legs will get tired.
I use a stool without arms. Not exactly this one but close. This lets me play games that are designed around standing without any hacks. I can also rotate freely on the stool which is a pretty big boon.
I tried to play VR in an office chair but bought a tilt stool for VR (after seeing it being suggested in this sub I believe).
It feels better than an office chair for me because there is no limitation for the arms, I can move all around including behind my back
You can also rotate all around and lean forward or on the side easily.
You can also stand up and sit back down easily if you need to quickly reach something high up in the game.
Crouching would be more problematic, but it would be the same in an office chair, and a lot of games have a crouch button so I haven't had an issue with this.
It also makes me feel safe, because during setup I can try beforehand to move my hands all around me to see if I will hit something, once you make sure you won't, you should be safe unless you move the chair(which you should notice happening. I have never moved the chair while sitting on it, the bottom is heavy and has non slippery material. With an office chair it might roll away)
I have a herman miller aeron. Would it be possible to put it on the bottom of this other stool so I can get more height?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I3ZRQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_KRS8BXJM5N3C2ES3PEAK
I always recommend starting with a good task chair. If by "stool" you mean something like this wobble stool, this keeps your core engaged and doesn't allow you to fully relax, nor does it support your back when you need rest. A wobble stool is fine as a secondary seat if you want to keep your core muscles active for part of the day.
Per the desk height calculator, your ideal seat height is ~16". If you choose to use a footrest and type/mouse on the desk surface, your seat height should be ~17.6".
I recommend the Herman Miller Sayl for you. It is designed for more petite statures like yours, its seat height range accommodates both the footrest and keyboard tray solutions, and it comes with a 12 year warranty.
Some cheaper options for you that won't last 10 years include the HON Convergence and the Staples Carder.
I have one. Been using it for years. It was my grandmas.

This one is the starbound chair, kind of expensive but super worth it. Ive seen people recommend the cheap vestil chair, but I'm close to the weight limit for it so wanted to get something more sturdy.
Easy to adjust and nice cushion. Saves my back a lot of pain.
We bought this tower off amazon and have been pretty happy with it. It comes flat pack. We had talked about making our own, but this was going to be cheaper than buying the wood and tools required to make it. I second the Etsy recommendation. Search for Pikler triangle and you will get a bunch of options.
