Philips SHP9500 HiFi Precision Stereo Over-ear Headphones (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENMK1DW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf. And the mic is V-MODA BoomPro Gaming, VoIP Headset Headphone with Mic (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJ17WKK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf. I highly recommend them, sound quality is amazing but the only downside is everyone can hear your shit.
lol I got that mic
Antlion Mod Mic Wireless https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Attachable-Microphone-Headphones/dp/B07KQF165L
It's great for turning high end headphones into a gaming headset. Mic pops off magnetically too.
I can fuckin confirm too, if the wireless connection decided to take a shit on me everyone on discord wants to choke me lol
If you're hardstuck at 50 bucks these are ok. Be aware that the "7.1" is SIMULATED and often sounds weird depending on game.
I think people should consider the Philips SHP9500 on a deep sale for $55 for Black Friday + VModa boom mic $30 as this is a pretty significant improvement in both headphone and mic quality with the bonus that the SHP9500 can be used for listening to music.
Looks like amazon has them for $88 with free same day delivery for prime members.

I second the bluetooth headphones. I have two pair actually. I have the Amazon Echo buds (similar to Airpods) that I use at work and at the gym (back when gyms were open), and also the ones I recommend most, the Sony MDRXB950BT. I recommend these because they're comfortable and have a BEASTLY 20 hr. battery life. Also, there are controls on the headset itself that work well with audiobooks, podcasts, music, and calls (there's a microphone for phone calls too). I use these for all things. Yard work, chores, and those days when I was washing baby bottles by the ton.
I recommend these to new dads, but really just to any adult. They're awesome. I did not have the in-ear bluetooth headphones when my son was a newborn (they were just coming on the market then), but I wish I had, and I'd recommend. I like that you can use only one ear at a time if need be.
Also, on the Kindle recommendation, everyone should look into Amazon's Whispersync technology.. If you get both the audible and kindle version of a book, you can switch seamlessly between listening and reading, picking up right where you left off. This helps me read way more. I just wouldn't otherwise have time to sit and read for hours, but I can listen while I workout, mow, clean, etc.
Koss KSC75 iirc. They're very highly regarded in the budget audiophile community iirc.
I purchased a rift S a little over a year ago. After the Facebook fiasco I sent it back and upgraded to an Index, to this day I still question the decision. I loved my Rift. You're going to want to upgrade a few things:
Headphones, I purchased these [Koss KSC75](www.amazon.com/Koss-KSC75-Portable-Stereophone-Headphones/dp/B0006B486K) unbent the ear pieces and wrapped them around the headband of my headset. The difference is night and day and was the difference between an interesting experience and an immersive one.
Grips, I purchased these: https://www.amazon.com/AMVR-Controller-Oculus-Anti-Throw-Protective/dp/B07X117LPR/ They keep you from having to hold on to the controllers all the time and make the controllers fill your hand a bit better. There may be better ones on the market now.
A Pulley system. https://www.amazon.com/KIWI-design-Management-Retractable-Accessories/dp/B07VQZYN3M/ keeps you from getting tangled up in your cable.
Enjoy your headset and welcome to the community.
In case you weren't aware, iPads can use any headphones. You don't need to use headphones that are specifically made for Apple or iPads.
So you probably are going to want to figure out how much you want to spend and what style of headphones you want. Then you might want just to go to Amazon and see which ones are well reviewed in your price range.
.
And not everyone finds earbuds comfortable. He may prefer a different type. For example, the Koss PortoPro are well reviewed and extremely comfortable. However they don't do a good job blocking out background noise and they will leak sound if they volume is turned up loud. So depending on how he uses them, they may not be a good choice.
Replying to /u/scandii (whose post was deleted his post before I could hit submit).
>"I bought shit, and it's shit"
>that's what I got out of your comment. not saying you're wrong or anything, but what did you expect?
>when it comes to the lower end of bluetooth vs regular headphones regular headphones got bluetooth beat every single time.
They have decent reviews on Amazon (4 stars/5000+ reviews), so for $25 I wasn't expecting shit. I figured that $25 headphones would have worse sound quality than something $100+, but I assumed (I guess wrongly) that BT tech was advanced enough that moving my phone from one pocket to the other wouldn't cause the audio to cut out.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTH240-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headphone/dp/B00AWIPITS#customerReviews
But yeah, lesson learned. BT headphones apparently are only reliable if you go mid to high end.
>somewhat hard to come by during COVID
seems like they are in stock on amazon for 2 day shipping
https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Attachable-Microphone-Headphones/dp/B07KQF165L/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=modmic+wireless&qid=1610435339&sr=8-3
Definitely not. They are very uncomfortable. The vinyl covering the pads is as thick as shoe leather. The headband is too narrow and doesn't expand properly for larger heads; it just flattens out, causing a poor fit. The sound is meh.
The absolute best headphones you can get for cheap are the Koss KSC75. They are super light weight, and sound great. They sound better than headphones that are 10 times the price. They are open, so they have little distortion, but you will be able to hear your surroundings. That's a both a pro and a con in my book. Plus people sitting right next to you will be able to hear what you hear (sightly).
They're $16 with Prime shipping on Amazon.

Eventually, I break them, but I keep buying them. I just ordered my 5th pair in as many years. I also own the Sportapros. Same sound, but with a headband.
^one like this. I can't sleep with earphones in either, but this really changed my life
Hey!
AntLion Audio ModMic Kabellos https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07KQF165L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_67H5CXSE016PQ5XAWX3J
Ah, headphones can really be bought at lots of price brackets lol. even mine are just for fun casual use, although I do use them every single day so I wanted something nicer.
I use to have these and they were/are (still have them) amazing.
Also looks like Kizuna Ai put her video on private, so not sure if it'll be members-only or edited and readded later? I don't watch her content but I'm glad I jointed this, it was all super hype.
Hear me out, but this Philips headset is the first one out of MANY that I've tried and wear with TMJ pain free. It's very loose, almost zero pressure on the head, I'm not sure how it even stays on me to be frank.
Great headset, highly recommend.
I just got the Philips SHP9500 along with the V-MODA BoomPro. By far the most comfortable headset I have owned. Ear cups are huge and completely surround my ears. The headset is very light weight and does not squeeze at all. I wear them all day when working, and in the evening with gaming. Plus, they are great sounding too.
Looks like the mic is currently out of stock. I got mine on eBay. https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-BoomPro-Gaming-Headset-Headphone/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=pd_bxgy_23_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00BJ17WKK&pd_rd_r=E5NE128ZPRX3KS4F4QYD&pd_rd_w=VLjAz&pd_rd_wg=dKgCd&psc=1&refRID=E5NE128ZPRX3KS4F4QYD
Agreed.
And if you're going to spend ~$50 on headphones, you might as well just go with SHP9500s for ultimate comfort and a high quality headphone driver. $66 on Amazon atm, but they get down to $50-$60 occasionally.
If you don't like the sound signature of the SHP9500, that's somewhat easily fixable with Equalizer APO + Peace GUI, but the SHP9500 driver will blow these out of the water and they will be leagues more comfortable.
As u/oldeastvan/ said, if you have access to a 3d printer then buy $18 Koss KSC75s and print adapter.
> Rumour has it these Koss drivers also on the Porta Pro headset, were what were used in the original CV1.
> Koss KSC75s https://www.amazon.com/Koss-KSC75-Portable-Stereophone-Headphones/dp/B0006B486K
> STL files (not mine): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4627824 also includes version for cloth strap.
I don't remember him talking about headphones, but I love my Koss Portapros. They fold up tightly and fit in my bag, and have excellent audio quality. They also don't mess up my hair as much as other over-ear headphones tend to. Here's a link. $39.99 on Amazon. They also have a lifetime guarantee.
Some people think that "bass boosted", "closed back", "noise isolation/cancellation", "virtual surround", are good things when it comes to headsets for csgo. Honestly had some of the best sound with these cheap things when I was looking for headphones.
Edit: For those in the market, the most important thing to look for are ones with open/semi-open back for a wider soundstage and something with decent sounding treble. Bass is only going to make things harder to hear so avoid anything that's over the top.
I record them on my iPhone (the voice recorder app). Then I put some music behind it (on Imovie), loop it and download it on my phone. I listen to it all night long.
I use sleeping headphones for this. I keep the volume pretty low, otherwise I can’t fall asleep.
Big fat beautiful headphones for sale, Philips SHP 9500 in excellent condition. These are not Bluetooth capable, they are not noise cancelling, and they don't have a mic for gaming. What you get is big comfy ear pads (sanitized upon sale) and a detachable 9' cable ending in a 1/8" plug. Bonus because size matters is a 20' extension cable, all tested and working. Cross posted to FB Marketplace, special price for this sub only is $45 cash.
These kinda fly under the radar, but I compared them to cans costing twice as much, and have loved them for over a year.

I use them all the time. They are super comfortable. I can listen to podcasts to drift away to sleep without disturbing my husband, and I can wear this to listen to music on my walks. Very comfortable and I love it. I wore it all day today.

The best combo for the price. Been using for years and better than gaming headphones.

I completely agree, and was considering bringing this up myself. $20 for a $5 Monk+ with a braided cable isn't as good a value as the KSC-75 at $15. They're both cheap, portable solutions with low isolation. They cater to the same needs.
The Monk+ is great at $5, but if you're going to be spending $15+ then the KSC-75 is definitely better for the money. People love collecting those Monks, though, which is understandable.
Edit: The KSC-75 is currently <strong>$10</strong> on Amazon, which makes them even more of a great value for the money.

Long story short: I came here to ask about good budget headphones. A few people (including materix01) recommended these. I was looking at them and refreshed the page. The price suddenly changed from $65 to $29 with free shipping. I thought you guys would want to know. Posted here.
Grab them while you can, and thanks for the help guys.
EDIT:
IMPORTANT!
Apparently the listing was in error, and anyone who ordered a pair should check their email account associated with their Amazon account. The headphones are like new, but used. The seller is offering to refund and cancel your order, or they will fulfill the order and take another $5 off by way of apology.
Consider looking at the Koss KSC 75. They're kind of the best of both worlds, and they're under $15!

EDIT: Looks like the price went up. They're $15.99 now.
I can't use IEMs. They really hurt my ears.
