Recently bought a Lemome to avoid ghosting and get something a little more durable.
120gsm ivory paper, I haven’t had any sort of ghosting or bleed though. The pages are a bit wider too, helps for larger spreads!

All you need is a notebook and pen! It can be any notebook and pen, as well. If you want to be fancy, a lot of people recommend a Leuchtturm1917 notebook. You should also read about the bullet journal method.
But the most important thing is to have fun and use this journal to organize anything you need in your life!
I'm a fountain pen enthusiast, and you're helping me procrastinate, don't worry!
Grab yourself a Metropolitan, it can write on any paper no problem. The Platinum Preppy runs a bit wet.
If you find yourself in want of a notebook that can handle any fountain pen at an affordable cost, grab yourself a black n' red from Amazon.
The Power Company has a process journal that could work well for what you are looking for.
I use a black moleskin journal to keep track of my progress, this is the one I bought off amazon.
I write my focus for the day, the drills or workouts that I do, how the session is going, particular things that I noticed while climbing, strength training exercises (sets and reps), my start and end times for my climbing and workouts (It is nice to track how much time you spend at the gym each week, and what portion is time spent climbing vs. strength training).
I don't write the individual climbs/grades that I do. I don't see much of a point to this, as gym grades are not very consistent and they aren't up for that long. When I am outdoors, I write every route that I climb.
I also tried keeping notes in a spreadsheet on my phone, but I like writing better, and it keeps me off of my phone while training.
I imagine you used the clear background paper, rather than white background paper, at least for the face.

>I would like to try making novels. What paper would I use for that?
Can't really go wrong with regular printer paper. But if you want to splurge, you can always try the HP Premium 32lb paper. Fair warning, it is pretty thick, so if you're printing a lot of pages, a book press is absolutely needed to reduce swell and you'll have to learn how to back the spine. Otherwise, the 28lb paper should fit your needs.
>Is there an extra benefit with the nipping press? They are more expensive then the laying presses.
You could consider making your own! At the end of the day, the nipping/book press is meant to apply lots of pressure to the textblock, so you can improvise with some C clamps and wooden boards lying around. As for me, I went to Home Depot to grab a sheet of plywood, cut it into 12x12in squares, drilled some holes near the corner of the boards, and ran some fasteners and wing nuts through to make a few book presses. I did the same for the finishing press, but cut them into 6x12in rectangles to make them easier to move around.
As for the extra benefits, if you follow my method, you could conceivably just make a laying press big enough to also work as a nipping press. At any rate, it's far cheaper to make it yourself instead of buying it commercially.
I use a Rocketbook and so far it has worked well. You write it in like normal and then you take a pic of it from the Rocketbook app to scan/save it wherever you want. Then you just wipe it clean with a wet cloth and start over!

I can speak from experience. It is great for fountain pens, and it looks like it has a $2 coupon right now on Amazon.
Here is me using Emerald of Chivor on it (was originally for my friend Sunnie, just in case you get confused why it says Sunnie on it).
It's a Leuchtterm1917 A5 notebook!
Here's an Amazon link
I've had good luck with black and red notebooks as they use Optik paper. The downside is they are slightly glossy and some inks can take a while to try. Amazon carries them:
Been really liking Lemome's hardcover A5 dot journal ( https://www.amazon.com/Thick-Classic-Notebook-Pen-Loop/dp/B07168XGHT?th=1&psc=1 ) Great price and looks/feels wonderful too. Just randomly tried it off of Amazon one day and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Although I do enjoy my TWSBI Eco fountain pen, been using a Pilot v5 rt and a precise mainly. As a lefthander it feels good to have a pen that lays down bold ink but doesn't smear immediately.
It's called the Rocketbook Wave, their new one is called the Rocketbook Everlast. It's got a microfiber cloth you can use to just dampen and wipe the ink off after you scan and upload it to whatever destination you set up in the app. Pretty slick, I use mine for work. Amazon link
I just bought a ream of this HP Premium 32 lb paper I've seen recommended here for writing letters / whatever. Check out some of the pictures in the reviews, most of them mention using it for fountain pens and it looks like it has no ghosting. I still need to pick mine up to try it out.
Otherwise Rhodia is my new favorite paper like others mentioned
Several companies make blank decal paper for inkjet printers
I have been using inkjet paper, and it works fine. As stated, I put a couple coats of clearcoat on it after printing and before transferring. The directions on my paper specify acrylic clearcoat, but I used Rust-Oleum clear paint and it works fine, too.
This is the paper I'm currently using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077TMFVL9
Lechtturm1917 notebooks also include an index in the front of their notebooks, and the pages come pre-numbered.

They come in other colours besides black as well.
Amazon, typically, here's a full sized notebook for under 6 bucks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EFQG1I/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_RkW.xbH91REDQ Every once in a while, you'll catch Amazon having them for five bucks or under, I try to stock up when that happens.
That size rhodia is typically eleven or so bucks.
HP 32 is the best of the cheap stuff here. Rhodia and Clairefontaine are pretty good bang for buck. Miliko are my favorite cheap dot grid notebooks. I love Tomoe River, not cheap but I like what I like.
I found a big easel pad of one inch grid paper on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQDGJRO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.PrEzbBDQR1KT), I draw each section of the dungeon on one sheet so they can be replaced on the table as we go. I've tried a few approaches and this is my favorite. Sections take only ten minutes each to draw out, less of I don't care about details like coloring in terrain and stuff. I also think the drawn aspect encourages the players to imagine the terrain instead of relying on the printouts, but maybe I'm projecting
I don't really know how it affects feathering. It dilutes the dyes, so if you have an ink that's too dark a green for you to tell it's green, adding water will lighten the color. You could try Noodler's X-Feather ink, which is designed to combat feathering.
Amazon has lots of good paper options -- try the HP 32lb paper or black n red notebooks for inexpensive quality.
I'm using a moleskine grid in A5 and it's been working great as a functional bujo for me. Love that it flips open to every page easily, and that the pages are not completely white! Pretty hardy imo. They have dot journals too, like what you're looking for.
I would say Leuchtturm1917 is one of the most popular options for bullet journals though. Here's the link for one A5 dotted I found on Amazon. Link
I use Black n Red Notebooks and they’ve worked out really well as cheap but smooth paper. They’re rated for 90 gsm (feel smooth) and I didn’t have any bleed through issues with my Pelikan M805 B nib or my Lamy 2000 M nib. Amazon has them for 7 bucks a notebook (96 sheets each): https://www.amazon.com/Black-Red-Casebound-Hardcover-Notebook/dp/B00015YOR4/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=black+n+red+notebook&qid=1577651893&sprefix=black+n+red&sr=8-3
Try checking out the Rocketbook for easy digitizing of handwritten notes.
I had purchased the HP 32lb paper from Amazon. It works with fountain pens though there was some feathering when using a B nib. For EF to M though, it was fine.
It is thicker paper though especially when I am using Tomoe River Paper most of the time.
I feel you, I love my Rhodia but it makes my wallet cry after paying tuition :// I got mine on Amazon, but I've also seen it at Staples! Otherwise I can't find it anywhere https://www.amazon.ca/HP-Printer-Premium-Choice-LaserJet/dp/B000099O2W/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=hp%2B32lb%2Bpaper&qid=1597679390&sprefix=hp%2B32&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1
I got mine on Amazon! Here's the link if you're interested :)

These might be what you're looking for water slide decals on Amazon
I grabbed a few pads of 1-inch gird easel paper on Amazon. I draw out dungeon, town, and various maps on it before the session, and it's great. It's awesome watching the players explore a dungeon when I have the whole thing mapped on battle-ready squares already, so I can just drop a new sheet of paper as they travel.
Under that, I have a wet-erase Chessex battlemat, which is good for when I haven't planned something out . . . which seems to be happen more than I would like.
