This. For 2k sq ft (which is what I have in my backyard) it will take you about 2-3 hours total of work. Really not that bad at all. Drink a beer and listen to music, podcast, sports, etc. Just water a good amount morning of or day before, it will make it SO much easier.
Alternatively, you can have local landscaping company do it. Prices vary, but typically ~$70-110 USD seems like the average.
I killed all my grass/weed without pesticides by covering everything with cardboard weighed down by bricks for 3 weeks. I then watered and used a manual aerator. It all cost about $30.

Burning works and it's way faster. I didn't do that because my area burns easily.
Nice video. You covered basically everything I bring. I ended up buying a cart on Amazon though and it's made my life 10x easier. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUUUIGK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also bring bug spray because I've been outside with bugs a few times and there's nothing more miserable than getting eaten alive when you're trying to focus on shooting.
A small power strip comes in handy so you can charge multiple devices at the same time.
Drinks were something I forgot only once.
Noticed you didn't have a light. I just got a smaller one and I loved it for my last shoot. Was an Aputure Amaran AL-F7.
OP here.
I added some water-storing crystals to this Northshore Supreme. AMAZING.
I posted a lil while back a tutorial I found on Tumblr on how to make diapers more absorbent and bulky. I got a couple comments about how it might irritate skin, so I didn't try it.
I saw another poster here on Reddit have a bag of the crystals with his stash and I inquired about it. He said that he had good luck with adding crystals.
So I cut a tiny hole (like less than one centimeter) on the inside back, just above the padding. I used a funnel to pour the crystals into the spot between the liner and plastic. I didn't really know how much to put in, maybe half cup? Then folded it taco-style and tried to distribute throughout, but due to the expansion that part doesn't really matter.
Anyway, it was AMAZING. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
I wore it for ~14-15 hours, didn't experience any issues with skin irritation or other problems.
HOWEVER, I did experience the best feeling I've probably had. It was SO bulky, SO squishy, SO heavy.
I ordered 5 more packages of the crystals to mod my diapers now.

I second this. If you ask someone without a garden to water your plants, they'll spend 10 seconds doing it where I would normally spend 10 minutes doing it.
I definitely recommend the timer system route. Run some soaker hose through the garden, put it on a timer that runs it for an hour a day (or whatever).
This way you can just ask the relative to make sure the soaker hose is running and that the ground is moist and not have to worry about them under-watering stuff.
At my old house I had a ton of plants in pots that really did need to be watered twice a day or they'd die in the 95F heat. I set up a timer system for them too, there are smaller gauge lines you can run and put fixtures on them to water the plants. It was something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Raindrip-R560DP-Automatic-Container-Hanging/dp/B00J2NRUBI
If you can aerate with an aerator that pulls plugs out, that is ideal. I use this one from Amazon (I also have very little lawn) it works great, and I have used a machine before and the manual one does just as good of a job, just takes longer.

I use a 400 GPH sub pump. A drum pump would work but you're either going to have to manually crank it or shell out a few $100 for a motorized one.
I would recommend (and I personally use)the bluelab PH pen. Don't skimp out on something you're going to be using every few days. 88 dollars , spend it, bite the bullet, and take care of the pen as directed with the storage solution, clean it after using it etc.
PH is one of the most important factors, the cheap pens are iffy. The bluelabs one comes with a full guarantee, and is what most professionals use.
Try 811 Copper 4E Fungicide. I had spotting and browning on my strawberry plants and this took care of it.
We are going camping with our 1 year old for Memorial Day weekend camping this year so I'll be following this for other ideas! We are going with my coworker and all their friends (and their friend's friends) so there will be a huge group with us. But, here are the things that we plan on bringing!
We are also bringing a stroller because we are going to a festival in a nearby town. Otherwise, I wouldn't bring it.
It's 2x2s and grow film. That's around $50. You can get a fan and filter combo on amazon for $150. Like this...
VIVOSUN Air Filtration Kit: 4 Inch 203 CFM Inline Fan with Speed Controller, 4'' Carbon Filter and 8 Feet of Ducting Combo https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06XFRNPR8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gTOtCbZWHKCMV
I have this problem almost every year, including today! Like other people, none of the natural solutions worked, but I found that these things work like a charm. Fruit flies were gone in a few days and now I swear by them.
Leaf spot! My peach trees had this same problem a couple months ago…it looked very similar to your picture, then spread and worsened to my pear tree and apple tree. Untreated, you’ll lose alot of leaves, and the disease may spread to fruits which will cause fissures and malformation. Prune any branches that are overwhelmed with the disease (cleaning the blade in between cuts), then spray with a copper fungicide early in the morning just before sunrise; cleaning the blades to ensure you don’t cause spread or secondary infections, and spraying before sunrise so that the fungicide has a chance to dry without causing sunburn and without leaving the plants to sit drenched all night.

I did this, and the infection cleared out in a couple weeks. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Edit: spelling, and listing for copper fungicide
I used to do this with a house with a mother in laws suite. It had a closet that was rigged for a stacked washer and dryer. I used a fan similar to the fan in this kit to pull the heat out of the room. Honestly I don't think I'd care too much about the heat. My lab is in the garage in Austin, TX. The fans run a little loud but it works fine. It's been running well for a few years now.
also look up dead bug brew, it's an organic spray that is derived from sugar cane bacteria, it kills all kinds of bugs (i use it for Colorado beetles, ravage the potatoes)
Does anyone have experience with this brand? Also, is the fact that I inherited a “hanging basket kit,” render this system useless for a setup like yours?
Aerating without removing matter is only further compressing the areas around it and does nothing really long term for the soil. DONT use a pitch fork to aerate. Get something like this which will pull plugs out, then you can do a compost/sand mix in those holes. You could then overseed and top dress with more compost. Should be maybe a 2 6 pack job, at least, though.
I go days without checking the plants. During peak flower maybe 3-4 times a week I would go in for about an hour at a time. Typically topping off twice a week. The monster in the back needed water every two days during peak growth.
I only did a full water change twice (I run a small 400 GPH pump attached to a length of 1/2" ID vinyl tubing to drain out the tanks).
Once change was when flipping to flower and then I did a full change prior to flushing.
I spend way more time defoliating than I do messing with the tanks. I never once checked pH in the actual grow tanks. I just kept adding pH 5.5 nutrient solution and the plants loved it. Once you have the system dialed in it's really easy.
Go online and look up “(your zip code) gardening zone”. Then seek plants (or planting schedules) for your zone. For example in zone 9 (this is fully incorrect and using as an example) garlic may need to be planted in oct but in your zone it may be December or something like that.
You can get a cheap hose timer and irrigation for the raised bed. I used this kit from amazon for my raised bed.
Peppers and tomatoes are super easy and rather forgiving.
Bonus points if you get nutrients and a feeding schedule!
Clover/grass mix is great overall. But to get things to grow better, is there any trees/shurbs that need pruning?
Removing some low branch, rubbing limbs, etc can vastly open up gaps for light.
a. Use grass suited for the area. For dense shade, fine fescues (creeping, red, chewings) all do great in dense shade. Also many turf type fescues do well, also. Something like this is a great basic mix. Your local seed and feed or landscaping supply may have something similar.
b. Make sure you you rake the ground to make little places for the seed to hid. Lay seed down, walk over it to press seed in. Cover with 1/4 in peat moss or straw (peat moss is best). Lightly water for 7-10 days 3x per day. Just need to keep seed and peat moss damp. Once grass sprouts, water much longer but only 1x per day then every other day, then once a week.
Water and fertilize. Water 1x-2x per week deeply. Try to get 1/2 in at least of water down. Use fertilizer like Milorganite (or menards organic type, or others are great). No need to worry about burning the yard, apply at bag rates.
CORE aerate in the fall. Either rent a core aerator at HD, hire someone ($50-150 depending on size and your location), or get one of these
I bought this bad boy, to do mine https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOMCJD6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You could buy a cheap one. And then buy a slightly more expensive cheap one.
And then buy the pen you should have bought in the first place because you realize the cheap pens don’t work for shit.
OR
You could just buy the only pH pen you’ll ever need
This is not the least expensive pump out there, but I know this $31 pump is capable of both of your uses (recirc chilling water) and line cleaning: EcoPlus 396-gal submersible pump. It also comes with a lot of fittings.

There are copper treatments you can get if you're interested in organic gardening: https://www.amazon.com/Bonide-811-Copper-Fungicide-473ML/dp/B00BSULSHA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=copper+plant+treatment&qid=1602464703&sprefix=copper+plant+trea&sr=8-3
You may find something else at the hardware store, like chemical fungicides. I think neem oil works for powder mildew, but I'm not sure of it's effectiveness for other types.
I have this collapsible cart and can’t recommend it enough. I do have a car but have to park a long ways from my door and this has been my weekly hauler for a couple of years now.
Probably too long to take on transit when extended (but fine when collapsed). So, maybe best if your in walking distance or get an Uber/cab for your trip home with groceries.
I've used the Precipitube for many years; I've tried other humidification systems but haven't found anything else that works better (aside from humidifying your room or house) - I only use a little bleach if the crystals are visibly turning black, and I don't put the tube back into my case without wiping it and making sure it's dry.
The crystals hold moisture well enough that I've never had issues with the tube dripping, and I use mine in a relatively expensive case (an Accord); I have a friend who uses a Precipitube in a Gewa Idea (which has the same interior as the Air) without any problems. I have other friends who use them in their Riboni, Musafia, Negri, and other premium cases, and standard cases like Bobelocks and Bams - nobody has ever had any issues.
If the crystals seem too far gone to fix with bleach, I replace them - these seem to be the same as what they use, and $9 gets you enough for a lifetime, even if you share with friends.
I am moving and the kitchenette of the studio doesn't have a sink. Can I install an immersible pump and a water tank to an ikea sink (like, I don't know, this one right here) and some tanks to empty out later and make my own sink?
I use a collapsible cart. I can easily fit it into my honda civic and then carry all my stuff to the line in a single trip.. I'm talking outdoor ranges.. It would work for some of the indoor ranges, but some of them don't have much room..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUUUIGK
I can easily fit a few ammo cans worth of ammo in there, plus my range bag, gallon of water and 3-4 rifles easily. I've even tossed in a wooden crate worth of ammo and it holds it fine. It will hold upwards of 150 lbs, although I haven't gone that extreme with the weight.. I doubt I've cleared 100 lbs at once yet.
