You might want to check out a "pill cutter" (works for multiple sizes, even very small ones). Not only can they help to cut these very hard pills, they also catch both parts. If I do it any other way, at least one half disappears into a wormhole or something.
I do it this way, my insurance won't cover the 1mg but it does cover the 5mg. The pills are a little difficult to cut evenly but that is of no concern, as long as it maintains the level in your body. FWIW I use these. They're pill scissors and they work really well.

Try a pill grounder. You can get them at a pharmacy chain like Wal greens or CVS....not sure if you have those in Finland? But I just throw my stuff in the bottom of it and twist the cap as hard as I can and it does a pretty good job of crushing up shards.

I've thought about doing some ND tablet cutters eventually.
I have this from Amazon for my 6 pound, elderly dog that is on tons of medication and it helps me quarter medication relatively easily.

I have the pills, not the dissolvable. I wonder if a pill cutter would work on the dissolvable ones? I have also had those but can't imagine breaking them in half without crushing them. Pill cutter on amazon
You could also ask your doc/pharm to prescribe the pills but you probably already have a ton of them you don't want to waste.

use a pill crusher and put it on apple sauce, pudding, yogurt...whatever, but make sure it's a small amount of whatever you choose and make sure you consume it immediately because you can't store it once you mix it.

It allows you to get a cleaner, more accurate cut without getting finasteride residue everywhere and you can store the extra pieces in the little compartment in the cutter itself. Getting 5mg tablet down to 1mg is not going to be easy no matter what you use, though. would divide into quarters (1.25mg).

Hopefully it's just a straight forward break for you and slinging for X weeks will let it heal correctly- labrum repairs are rough damn surgery and recovery. On the pile of things I never want to do again, it's right at the top. I'd rather muck out an outhouse than have another labrum tear surgery.

One trick I learned from my grandfather (he had RA before the current generation of drugs made it manageable) was to "get in front of the pain"- if you let it build up thinking you can push thru, it makes it a lot harder to get relief when you finally admit its time for painkiller (narcotic or otherwise). I also got a pill cutter so I didn't have to use the whole pill (for when advil wasn't enough and a full pill was too much), helps with tapering off them too. You don't wanna get hooked on the bastards but you also want effective pain relief so you can heal.

I started with tapering down to 7.5 mg for 2 weeks and now I’ve been on 5 mg for a few weeks. I didn’t have any withdrawals. You’ve been on it for 4 years so you might need to taper even slower and stay in a low dose for a little while before trying to come off completely.

A generic pharmaceutical 2mg xanax weighs 250mg on average depending on the manufacturer. Using a scale is not a good way to taper for pills unless you have an analytical grade scale.

I really like scissor like ones, but most retail pharmacies don’t carry them because you can actually cut yourself with them if you are not paying attention.

It lets me actually center weird shaped pills unlike those safety close ones with the razor. It is also actually sharp. Both of those traits make things go so much faster.

It does split the 10 mg into four 2.5mg very well
My pills are like a round oval shape, it doesn't sit flat. Its like a 50/50 chance it'll cut in half or cut completely unsymmetrical and fly across the room.

This one is nice because the blue part that holds the pill for the blade is made of rubber or something so it holds the pill and it won’t fly anywhere
I wouldn’t break it in half, it will be easier to crush it then mix it in. Use a pill crusher (Amazon) or pick one up at your local pharmacy.
I quarter my 50mg pills. I empathize. I’ve been on 12.5mg every night for three years to offset Adderall and I still haven’t found a way to escape from seroquel.

I’m super sensitive to antihistamines and seroquel behaves like an antihistamine at small doses. I usually take 12.5mg-25mg a night. Have for 3 years. Sometimes I’ll take 50mg as a big gun if I’m not sleeping. Had a period recently with thyroid issues and even 50mg seroquel wasn’t putting me down for two weeks. Scared tf out of me. I ask my doctor to prescribe me 50mg and the I quarter it. Lasts longer and easier to cut. I recently bought these and they are hands down the BEST pill cutters!
