These ones are the best ones I’ve found. Doesn’t make your space look like you’re obviously growing weed since it’s white light lol and doesn’t give off a ton of heat which burns my plants. Also I like that the bulbs are curved and have 3 led strips per light so I have more versatility in my set up.

I find my mood is wayyyy better with plants around. I think this works the same as a SAD light too (which I also have) so I’m interested to see how it will work in the winter
Thank you so much! And I got them from amazon, yes I have a 2 different Spectrums, Yellow and White. Yes, I do have natural light as well, but not the best it could be. And all my plants are Thriving and Living their best Lives. 💚💀💚

I have mine under some T8 lights I got from Amazon. I have a plant shelf that I keep the majority of mine on.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QFPBQDR
I fertilized it once a week when I first got it with a general houseplant fertilizer. I did that for four weeks until it started to come out of its shock.
No not these ones. Try these ones instead. I prefer the T8’s.

Home Depot/Lowe’s for soil and fertilizer but all the other amendments, Amazon. Here are the grow lights, I used 2.
They are from amazon, the brand is Monios. Seem to have good reviews, and was within a fair price range without being the cheapest

Can I suggest a cheap $65-80 LED light from Amazon? "Blurple" lights aren't the best lights you can get but imo when you are on a budget they are great.
180W for $80 is pretty good https://www.amazon.com/VIPARSPECTRA-Reflector-Spectrum-Indoor-Plants/dp/B01B4GQ6MO
People have grown great plants with the brand Viparspectra. MarsHydro is also well known and you get get a similar light from them for $65 https://www.amazon.com/MarsHydro-Spectrum-Certification-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B00XC3LBI2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1507873088&sr=8-4&keywords=mars+hydro
I use these lights. They are on a timer that gives them 14 hours of light a day, and they do pretty well under it. Haws are low light plants regardless, so I could probably get away with less but I have some others that need more light so they ALL get to "sun" bathe. Havent had any issues with them and this setup.
They aren’t red/blue, so full spectrum, I guess? I got them on Amazon. Nothing fancy, but they seem to do the job!

I mean too much of a waste of electricity. If it’s too bright you just back it up.
Any blurples will do just go by reviews on amazon. I’ll sell you two mars hydros for $50 if you’re interested. I payed $100 each used one grow.
Lights - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFPBQDR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rmpzFbXCTGG2B
Hooks - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hillman-Cup-Hook-White-7-8-inch-8-Pack/46494664
The lights had really good reviews & I've used the hooks for other projects before and they work great! If you end up getting the lights, make sure you remove the almost completely invisible film that's covering them!
I have this red/blue light working for about 6-7h a day in my bedroom (using a timer plug). I would have it run longer but I end up taking work calls that don't look as good with pink light drowning everything (nor can I run it while I'm sleeping).
The light is mounted next to the window facing all my plants, this means I have it mounted vertically with the LED facing horizontally. The plants are arranged within a 1.5m radius around the window/light. The plants closest to the light are growing about twice as fast as the ones in the back rows. If you throw a humidifier in the mix, you'll have consistent fast growth all year round.
Thank you!! I use the VIPARSPECTRA 300W VIPARSPECTRA grow light from Amazon. This thing is extremely bright but since I don’t really have any outdoor space and my succulents seem to be very much enjoying it, I can’t really complain haha
What do you consider affordable? These Barrina are about $60. They were highly recommended to me, and, if you look through my post history, they do a pretty decent job. Plus they're crazy easy to install on a shelf like yours.
It’s a Mars hydro tsw2000 on 100% about 18 inches from the canopy right now, I will keep raising it as the girls stretch.
I actually bought this little guy when I was first kicking around the idea of growing and ended up keeping it after I bough the Mars hydro and now have it hanging with the four strips angled so they get the sides where par is lower from the main light.. not sure how much that helps but I can’t imagine it hurts
Amazon! I’m actually really impressed with them; I’ve had these shelves up for a few weeks now and all of my plants have been happy.
All my orchids are grown under LEDs and CFLs (2700k + 3500k) for 14 hrs. a day.
I used a fairly inexpensive and common orchid fertilizer. This plant gets watered with plain water (rain or RO) twice a month with nutrients added every other watering. I use the recommended dose when the plant isn't flowering and 1/4-1/2 when it's flowering depending on how much it seems to be growing.
This orchid is grown in sphagnum moss that hasn't been changed out in over 3 years. Once these blossoms drop, I'll repot in fresh moss. In my limited experience (1.5 years) with orchids I've found that they thrive in moss if you're careful about watering and don't overly compact the media.
My grow room is kept around 65-75% humidity, night temps of ~19c and a day time of ~25c. A 10" fan keeps the air moving to prevent any mold/fungus/mildew issues.
I'll spray down the roots of my plants once a day to keep them happy and to make sure the plant has some water if I haven't accurately gauged how dry the media in the pot is or don't have enough time to water it properly.
If I was really trying to go for the bare-minimum cost setup I'd have it in a closet and here's what I'd do:
The hardest decision would probably be lighting... I'd advise you either go the CFL route (look it up on growweedeasy.com) or a cheap LED light from Amazon. You can get a 180W draw light from Amazon for $66, and it's decent, not the best, but you can surely go from seedling to harvest with them. MarsHydro is a well-known and relatively reliable brand: https://www.amazon.com/MarsHydro-Spectrum-Certification-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B00XC3LBI2/ref=sr_1_7?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1506140832&sr=1-7&keywords=led+grow+light
The last thing you will really need is ventilation. To start you can just use some small-fan you may have laying around but later the odor will become an issue. You can make your own carbon filter for cheap, or you can buy one. I believe you can get a basic carbon filter/fan combo for around $50 online.
something with a little more power , they got 100watt (20w) versions of these bulbs that are a lot bigger on amazon but a panel is gonna be the best bang for your buck , These ones are cheap and efficient
HLG65 99 dollars on Amazon.

It's so much better than the purple. I have it in a 20"x20" now.

I've used those "300w" marshydro purples and they're garbage.

The HLG is way better and uses less energy too.

If you're open to alibaba, you can get much more for your money by buying a quantum board there. Should be able to get 200w+ of QB from alibaba... look around here because they're posted all over. They keep changing so I don't bookmark them but they are cheaper than HLG and the same technology.

OR you could easily grab two 65w QBs off Amazon for $200 and have 130w QB lighting in there which is a bit less than most people recommend, but so would two viparspectras be.

2x4 should be 400 TRUE WATTS (not advertised numbers) of blurple, or 200-240w of QB by most people's calculations.

Those two viparspectras are likely not even close to 400w of true blurple lighting. They may say "600w" or "1000w" each but that's a lie. Read further down on the item description and it will tell you the true draw, which is likely closer to 100w each than anything else. So your two viparspectras would probably be like HALF the lighting you need, while your two QBs would be more than that, and way better lighting overall with better penetration for faster growth.

My little 65w QB beats the brakes off a 135w blurple I used to use for reference.

You may like the science of light post, also accessible via the sidebar.
Also, no, lumens will not always help you. More is typically better, but they're not what we use to help people find a grow light.
Firstly, i will assume that your sempervivums are definitely etiolating; let you tell you straight out that these are typically outdoor plants and that even under a grow light, unless it is strong, they will become leggy and flared out. If the grow light is good enough, they'll close back up and produce webs(if its an arachnodeium). However, lights these strong tend to be a bit more expensive.

I have been told that the Feit bulbs available via Amazon work well as grow lights. You'd need a gooseneck lamp or something else to hold them. I've never used said bulbs, so if you purchase them and find them lacking, please let me know so i can stop suggesting them. I use this, but you said you're looking for a supplemental light, not an exclusive light source(Note that this is more then enough for sempervivums and they're happy under it).
Some people use T5 or T8 fluorescent bulbs - if you decide to do this, purchase HO(High Output) bulbs, with a color temperature around 6500K. Typically, you want 3-4 bulbs, and they need to be fairly close. This is typically for a rack of multiple succulents. Lastly, try to avoid purchasing the $20 two/three armed grow lights on Amazon - they are typically VERY weak(not strong enough to prevent echeveria etiolation) and are prone to failure. I'm aware this probably doesn't answer all your questions, but i feel like this post is getting a bit long - if you need further help, feel free to reply and i or someone else can answer!
I have used the "quantum" LED grow light through one winter. Full spectrum and energy efficient. A 2x2 cost around $80 now. You can put the Onc, and Phal outside the 2x2 footprint. My Cattleya type grows inside the 2x2 and about 24 inches from the light. They all seemed to do fine. A wifi switch controller and a small fan is almost a must. You may run out of space faster than you expected. I upgraded to a 3x3 within 6 weeks, fyi.
If you have these hanging in the open they will annoy you with it's blue/purple colors and are not good for your eyes. Try getting full spectrum LED.
Look up Quantum boards from horticulture lighting group or Atreum Boards, Amazon may not have them. They are generally more efficient and give off nice white light which will not annoy you and even brighten up the room!
A Quantum Board 65 Kit (65Watt real draw) is about 100$ and available on Amazon and should be enough for a first light but probably underpowered for 4x4 but for half shaded plants this will work fine. Most use them to grow weed which likes a lot of light. Veg/bloom switches are mostly for weed, yes.
But sure, the QB are a bit bare and not that pretty yet really lightweight aesthetically...so who knows.

The Maxsisun 300W has about 130W real draw (the 300W is misleading since it's just an euivalent to HPS lights. So it draws 130W which is equivalent to a 300W HPS light) but is probably less efficient than the QB.

I'm growing Chilis with a DIY Fixture with full white LED comparable to the QB ones. I started out with a Viparspectra 300W (basically same as the Maxisun) so i know em both. Gonna take the Viparspectra apart soon to exchange the LED to full white ones. Will never touch the blue/purple lights again :D
I used two of these on my 4x4 and it gave me pretty solid yields and some really potent buds. i recommend these as it’s still budget friendly. Grow Light, VIPARSPECTRA Newest... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083JVXHF6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The one you have isn't horrible, generally speaking. It'll grow plants. It'll grow some veggies. It's only 75 watts.
If you're looking for a legit upgrade, I'd recommend Mars hydro and spider farmer.
This light will blow the one you have away. Not just because it's more wattage, but it's got better LEDs and a better all-around spectrum and array.
I use the Mars tsw2000 for my plants over the winter and the results are great when combined with a good environment. Peace lilies, canna lilies, tropical hibiscus, aloes, orchid, money tree.
Im not sure that would give sufficient light,
https://www.amazon.com/Phlizon-Thermometer-Humidity-Adjustable-Spectrum/dp/B0752CL6KJ This one would be alot better, id try and give the plant natural sunlight while u wait for it😊 u shoulnt have to support the stems, only when they* have heavy buds on it
You gotta use Amazon correctly. They label them by best seller, most affordable, best rated. plant light off Amazon
ya rotate the plant once a week when you water them or buy this clip on light.
Just this small one. I wanted to do a tiny grow with some extra space in the apt but it’s getting bigger than expected! VIPARSPECTRA UL Certified 300W... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4GQ6MO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
In my experience it hasn’t been finicky at all! Its funny you say that because I have an alocasia polly, begonia maculata and ficus ruby (rubber tree) all sitting next to my trio-star. oddly they all pretty much get the same care: distilled water when at a level 2 on my meter, high humidity and bright indirect light.
I think would be successful with the trio-star. I say go for it! Just make sure you start with a healthy plant :) grow light
Edit : feel free to message me with any questions if you end up getting a stromanthe triostar!
I got two of these and they worked very well for starting seedlings and for supplementing my iDOO hydroponic kit when my Tiny Tim Tomato plants outgrew the height of that kit's lighting.
The ones in the picture are these 🥰 They seem to work great!! Plus I’ve had them for over a year and haven’t had any issues
You don't need to test it yourself, just read carefully in the descriptions. I googled the Mars 600 and you can see from the description that it only uses 100 Watts. https://www.amazon.com/MARS-HYDRO-Spectrum-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B07VL8FZS1
"HIGH EFFICIENCY ENERGY SAVING PLANT LIGHT, Consuming only 100 Watts true output with 225 PCS LEDs, more scientifically and energy-efficient! Perfect for 2' x 2' veg stage, 1.5' x 1.5' bloom stage, higher intensity in a MARS HYDRO grow tent, reflective area, or by crossing over using multiple TS600"
Thanks so much for the detailed response. So would 1 of these be good? Or will will I need 2?
Not sure if they’re the best lights, I’m pretty new to all of it. Some plants seem to be doing well while others are either stretching, getting sunburnt, or both somehow lol!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VD1884R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
So far I have only 4 of the 8 lights in use but the others are ready for installation if needed, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to burn anything but I'll be keeping a close eye to see if I need to add anymore lights to other shelf's
Monios-L T8 LED Grow Light 2FT, 144W(6×24W) High Output Plant Grow Light Strip, Full Spectrum Sunlight Replacement with Reflectors for Indoor Plant, 6-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFPBQDR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_7HCQDM55QZA3786K34R2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 comes with multiple connecting cables, mounts, and power cords and even the aluminum reflectors and 6 led lights I’ve used these for two years now and have nothing but good to say
That's a blurple light. Anything blurple is old tech, despite what the manufacturer might say. There is a reason you don't see a single quantum board with blurple lights, they are super inefficient compared to the new LED's.
This light has zero green LED's as well. It's 100% a blurple piece of crap
Ah, okay. I was thinking like the ones you put in your kitchen (I actually just replaced mine in my kitchen which is what made me think of that). So even with two of those it's only 40w, which isn't a lot. You're probably okay for a while with those with seedlings, but once they get bigger I think they'll quickly outgrow those. My HD website only had 6 and 12 packs of those and they seem to come out to about $20/bulb. For not a whole lot more you can get a much stronger light off Amazon/etc. That's my two cents.
Edit: I have a couple of the bigger version of this and they're great lights. This appears to be on sale at the moment for $80. I'd go with something similar if you're not doing a ton of plants.

I have almost nothing but begonias now, but I keep almost all of them under grow lights. They do really well. If anything I prefer doing it this way since I don't have to worry about stuffing as many as possible in front of the windows, I can put them wherever I want.
Personally I've tried a few kinds of lights, strip/bar type are my favorites but I also have used the ones with bendy gooseneck lights, and just regular shop lights. These are the LED strip lights I use most, I've found that for low light plants (the more sensitive species begonias in particular) these were too bright so I switched some out for shop lights instead, but for the plants you have they should work fine. Whatever lights you use, you'll probably need to double up on them on each shelf for your succulents since they have high light needs.
Im using these and they are really impressing me. Plus its nice to be able to space them and put the where u want and it doesnt have to be all from one lighg like a normal 200w ufo or something

I have the Barrina LED strip grow lights and absolutely love them. They're affordable, publish PAR values, and put out a good amount of light and little heat. https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Lights-Spectrum-Equivalent-Greenhouse/dp/B07VD1884R?ref_=ast_sto_dp
I use these, also from amazon. I'm sure there's probably better out there, but these work really well for me. I believe mine are on for 12 hours a day. You can double them up on each shelf too if you want.
i have her under 2 of these grow lights for about 12-14 hrs a day, these honestly saved my succulents LOL the cold and the west coast fires a few months back almost killed them 😬
https://www.amazon.com/Monios-L-Output-Spectrum-Sunlight-Replacement/dp/B07QFPBQDR are the lights I use, tho I truly can’t attest to whether how great they do or don’t work as ever since I’ve used them it’s been paired with a few hours of indirect or partial direct sun. Tho I feel they must do something since I’ve had my plants getting indirect sunlight through tinted glass doors.
There is one I got on amazon that I really like because it gas a timer so it turns itself on and off every day. This isnt the exact same one I bought, but it looks similar. And it's on sale!

Whoa, that thing is expensive. I use this one from amazon and works really well.
Snagged these for $89 yesterday on Amazon. Seemed like a steal. Maybe they'll be back on sale tomorrow.

is this the type your talking about? if not could you link me to one? appreciate you forsure
100%
You can get a MarsHydro 300 for $65 with free shipping off amazon/eBay and it has almost the same exact specs.
That website is getting a cut from that light company. That’s the only reason they are recommending that garbage.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XC3LBI2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_Bl77zb8GT444P
If you can't afford the more expensive QB304/288/255/130, check out these complete kits on amazon for the hlg 65 board they sell.
It will replace a marshydro 300w with 65w of power draw, and only 30 watts of heat output. The mars 300w has a true 132w of power draw, and outputs 100 watts of heat.
It will also replace up to 400w of CFLs, which put out 360w of heat.
Good enough to cover a 2x2' space if you're not looking for anything wild. Ive pulled more than a quarter pound under a "300w" blurple led panel, so expect similar possibilities with the hlg 65.
This is the one I got off Amazon

I’m not familiar with quantum boards, i’m guessing just a newer tech? Google search showed what looks like LED Strips? Would they be convenient for a small tent?
Amazon This?
I was going to say the same thing. Those COBs look great but very expensive.

I put a 65w HLG in a 20"x20" and it's doing great. https://www.amazon.com/Quantum-Board-Grow-Bloom-4000K/dp/B076QDKVDZ

100w HLG would be awesome too but Amazon seems to have lost it (or I just can't find it).
I'm told the Feit bulbs are good, available via amazon, if you have a gooseneck lamp.

I use this, but it is somewhat overkill unless you have a plant rack with quite a few succs - I've been told by another user that its effective for two levels of his rack. Its also a bit pricier then what many wish to pay(although it is a bit cheaper then some led panels of similar size).
That light is garbage, I got suckered into buying that cause I was on a budget and I ended up throwing it out, I couldn't sell it knowing some poor bastard would end up with some lanky ass dying plants like I did. Save up a couple more bucks and get something like a 300 watt led UFO they go for less then 150 on Amazon. Here's a Mars hydro 600w for 120 https://www.amazon.ca/MARS-HYDRO-Reflector-Hydroponic-Greenhouse/dp/B07VL8FZS1
600 watts in a meter cubed is going to get pretty hot so you may want to go with less wattage.
Here's a 600w that's dimmable for 95 dollars. https://www.amazon.ca/Phlizon-Dimmable-Spectrum-Waterproof-Hydroponic/dp/B083TM8JBL
These probably won't fit on that particular shelf you have set up, but they're my top favorite grow lights out of maybe 4 different kinds I've tried. They also come with both sticky pads and screws(and hooks/zip ties for wire shelves) and all work well, in my experience. I didn't think the sticky pads would be able to withstand how warm the top of the lights get, but man I found out otherwise when I tried to take them back off.

It’s kind of hard to say what the best is! I only know what I’ve used. I have one of these that I use for groups of plants. It’s very adjustable. I also have two of these that I use to light individual larger plants that I keep in gloomy corners for aesthetic reasons. I’m pleased with the lights I have for the way I use them. The two-bulb lights aren’t intrusive to the decor of my room and actually look really nice. The one with multiple arms is great for a large group of plants. It’s less aesthetically-pleasing, but it stays in a rarely-used guest room where I send my plants if they need some extra light, so I don’t really care what it looks like.
these are the LED Lights I bought
This is basically going to by my winter setup this year, and it will move from the balcony to just inside the door. I will add a second one of those LED strip lights and move the shelf to about 6'' away, give or take. I have tried similar setups in the past, and can never achieve sun coloration (stress colors) indoors under mostly artificial light.
Has anyone been able to do this? Is it only a matter of brightness? I also have an idea that the missing element could be UV light (since other succulents 'color up' as a means of protecting their selves from UV light damage). Would adding a strip of UV light such as these make any difference?
Perhaps one or two of these lights. I'm sure you can find a similar 2 pack. Budget-friendly, should take care of a few houseplants in that spot.
(You can choose to use only 2 of that 6-pack but they only come with one power supply, so the rest would be useless unless you rigged them very close by.)
Haha well it wasn't too difficult! I found a local saw mill and got some Walnut ($32) cut to size and planed. I sanded, and laquered the boards.
Then I bought some brackets off of etsy(would not recommend the seller though, half of the holes weren't countersunk and there were scratches on the paint)
I tried to find studs to use in the walls but they weren't consistently spaced and would cause a funky layout on the shelves/brackets to hit a stud in each.
So I used #10 screws and anchors and they're holding fine. I then used these lights: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VD1884R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The clips mounted in the same holes as the brackets so no damage to the wood!
Nice! It does seem like a good light and you are getting good results with it so it's good in my book.
The only thing that stands out to me is it's efficiency. That thing pulls 130 watt from the wall while comparing to 250-300 watt hps. At first glance it's like nice I'm getting more light than I'm pulling from the wall! Then you realize there are 100 dollar lights that pull 100 watts from wall while imitating a 600 watt or even 700 watt. When an led has low efficiency like yours, that stands out to me. Like I said it doesn't matter but when you have multiple it really starts to matter just my two cents I'll shutup now
Edit: light example https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VL8FZS1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DNRnFbEE1RZQ5
I bought this (MARS HYDRO TS 600W LED Grow Light 2x2 ft Sunlike Full Spectrum Led Grow Lamp Plants Growing Lights for Hydroponic Indoor Seeding Veg and Bloom Greenhouse Growing Light Fixtures Four for 4x4 Coverage https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VL8FZS1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_K8DgFb0C1Y3A8) and like it. I bought a 1000 Watt equivalent at the same time, but I find I never use it because of the fan. The 600W equivalent that I recommend is silent, which is great, and the spectrum seems very close to normal sunlight.
I’m also using the fox farm trio, half the dose. With fox farm happy frog organic soil. These are the lights I’m using HLG 65 V2 4000K Horticulture... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076QDKVDZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
MARS HYDRO TS 600W LED Grow Light... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VL8FZS1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share very inexpensive and work great. I started outside then due to weather bought a tent with some necessities including a blurpple light. I won’t say it harmed my lady but it didn’t do any after two weeks. So I got a double dose of the mars lights and my my my she’s lookin purrty to me.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHY1B4C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6J3dFbGB45RB6 this is them, I'd say they are doing good with slow and steady growth, I think if you can get sunlight definitely choose that but I'd you're in a situation where you don't get much sun I'd recommend these
Got it on amazon, these are the lights i bought
The first link you posted is insanely overpriced for what it is. The second link, while the fixture looks nice...I can guarantee it’s also a rip off. It doesn’t list any details of spectrum (it just claims full spectrum) and no actual wattage output. You might be able to sustain a tree for a few months if you left that light on almost 18 hours a day. But in reality the energy costs might not be worth it in the long run.
You are putting yourself behind the 8 ball in a way, as any true grow light that can actually grow a citrus (which requires 6-8 hours of sunlight...the strongest light nobody can recreate) is always going to be a bit “industrial” looking and not meant to hang in a catalog living room advertisement. If I were in your position, I’d suggest finding a different spot for your citrus where it’s more reasonable to purchase a better quality light within the budget of the couple links you’re posting (I’m guessing between $70-100?).
Otherwise if changing location isn’t an option, then I’d recommend putting a few higher quality grow spectrum bulbs in some lights you already own around your tree and seeing if you can sustain your tree over a few months. Most bulbs output around 50 watts, which is what I’m guessing most of the fixtures you posted would advertise. And it would be much cheaper.
Edit: just to kind of give you an idea...this older Mars Hydro is very highly reviewed as a wonderful entry-point into grow lights. Great price, output and color spectrum. Honestly in order to grow and sustain a healthy citrus tree indoors, you’ll need something in this direction. Amazon Link
Hi, I posted some pictures but they didn't show. I am using the Viparspectra 2020 Pro P1000. After looking at a few, pricewise for the power, this was the best imo. The dimmer is also great to have. They have a 20% off coupon on amazon and you can put an additional coupon (can find it if u want it) which makes them go from $100 to $70.
This is the second flower I’ve seen it bloom. The first one had already sprouted so it was obviously already doing well. Besides that’s I have have my whole collection under grow lights from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFPBQDR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_c5GpFbH60FAQA), water them once a month or when the the dirt is super dry, and dry them outside or with a fan after they have been watered.
Lol came here looking for this too. Amazon has a "sale" on it rn for $80 (down from $300, allegedly).
Is this thing worth it or is it comparable to any old viparspectra or blurple you'd get off Amazon? Is the "real watts"/power draw the only thing I should be focusing on? Quite a rip off for 100w @ $300, no? Do quantum boards follow these same "rules?"

This is the light I use - it emits a small amount of heat that is perfect. Keeps my succulents around 75 degrees. I have them on a three-tier wire cart that I wrapped in foil to insulate until I can get real reflective padding.
Can't recommend this light enough - everything is doing so well now, I have a lithops blooming, some sedum, baby toes, one lace aloe, a haworthia turgida, and more.
I would imagine that your LED light would be fine. I have used https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4GQ6MO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on two plants in about the same size tent and everything was fine. I just made sure to rotate my plants every couple of days to make sure they were getting decent exposure all around. I now run two of these lights in my tent.
These right here. They’re the warm looking ones I find them easier on the eyes. Plants aren’t suffering any, they’re all actively growing. Monios-L T8 LED Grow Light 2FT,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QFPBQDR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Tent Sizes
Size | Height | Sqft |
---|---|---|
2x2 | 48" | 4 |
4x2 | 60" | 8 |
3x3 | 72" | 9 |
4x4 | 80" | 16 |
5x5 | 80" | 25 |
I strongly recommend getting the largest tent you can fit in your space for the purposes of grow height. For example, maybe you only have the budget for a 100w grow light to start, you should still get a 4x2 tent or 3x3 tent and just use half the space, because the extra height will give you a LOT more flexibility and comfort.

Light Options

Type | Price | Explanation |
---|---|---|
Shop Lights | $1.50/watt | Don't buy, these have a poor usable light range for plants (CRI / PPF) and are more expensive than grow lights |
Blurple Lights | $1.00/watt | Don't buy, these are outdated and have poor yield in flowering |
Boards | $0.50 ~ $1.00/watt | Excellent budget option for growers, luxury features like samsung lm301h diodes and meanwell drivers cost more but are nice to have |
Bars (coupon: "reddit") | $0.50 ~ $1.00/watt | Excellent commercial / large scale option for growers, has excellent coverage and flexibility in intensity for different types of grows |

Exhaust
...just get an AC Infinity 6"+ setup and be done with it, the budgets options are all poor quality.
If you have someone to send it you’re gonna want something like this. $80CAD (1100 Lira). If you have more money look up “spider farmer” lights. They’re around 2800 Lira.
Also the light you posted will 100% work but you’d need to figure out how to cool/exchange air in your grow area.
I wouldn’t go with an LED bulb. They’re very underpowered and I have personally never seen an actual successful grow using them.
I purchased these lights 2 months ago, and for the first time ever, my succulents are not stretching. I have them fairly close, 8" above the plants, and they get 12hrs of light each day.
by something cheaper I mean a product like this

just not sure if it'd work as well
Yes, if you have the room and this higher CCT will be more ideal for what you want. 13,500 lumens is about 2.5 square feet of higher intensity grow area. Get a lux meter!
But this high quality light will work far better, has a Mean Well LED driver with Samsung LEDs, and is 4300K (tested):

Ignore /u/slight_fact. The guy is a dangerous troll who gives lethal electrical advice, doesn't know the subject matter, and doesn't even own a $20 light meter yet gives lighting "advice".
It's a little hard to tell from your pictures, but it looks like all the new growth is nice and green. The brown tips/leaves look like they're attached to the older growth, so I would guess that the dried leaves are just age as opposed to something you're doing wrong. Those are going to gradually dry up and die off anyway. You can snip the dry tips off if you want, they won't go back to being green no matter how much you soak them.
If you're in a basement without decent light, you definitely want to supplement. I bought these on the suggestion of someone else here and they are AWESOME. I have had them for over a year and they still work like new, no problems at all. Previously, I had some of those other cheaper lights on amazon - the ones with the flexible necks that change from red to blue to purple. They are awful. Not worth the money. The plugs got dangerously hot and the switch that changed between modes stopped working after like a week.
Lastly, if you don't already, get a fan set up in the room where your plants are. Stagnant air can also kill your airplants, so it helps to have a floor fan or a ceiling fan to keep the air moving.
I have these (the 4ft ones) but they seem out of stock. For your usage the 2ft ones might plenty, I love them I grow lettuce and tomatoes indoors and they work great so far!

They seems to be highly recommended around here from what I’ve seen on here. 🤞🏻
I got the pots from a local nursery. They are 6.5 inch terracotta pots and the hangers are from Crate and Barrel. I think they are still on sale. 🎉
Are you conflicted?
Giving a cm measurement with a USD currency amount 😂
Monios-L T8 LED Grow Light 2ft on Amazon! If you're up for it, I'd recommend repotting them with fresh soil and, like the other commenter mentioned, provide them with more direct light.
Grow lights can work wonders, (I grow all my, indoor kept, plants exclusively with grow lights) but their strength can vary greatly across brands. I've linked the ones I use below. I've grown some impressive succulents using them.
I use these Barrina grow lights. They're available in both pinkish-white and yellow light. I believe they're the same that you have, but just an 8-pack, and I have had no issue with plants etiolating under them. I have a shelf set up, with two lights per shelf, and there's probably 10ish inches between the light and most of the plants. The lights are strong enough to prevent etiolation (some plants, such as echeveria, may need to be propped up a bit closer to the light) and have also brought out stress colors in nearly all of my plants. Barrina also has T8 lights, which I've seen multiple people recommend here, but I've had no issue with he T5s I'm using.
If that's the case GE also makes T5 fluorescent or LED grow bulbs and now offer an A19 bulb (fits a standard lamp). Ikea might have some fixtures that would fit the T5s and of course any of their fixtures made for a standard bulb would work with A19 bulbs. The lamp with the 3 heads would probably give you enough extra light with the GE bulbs.
I have three greenhouses set up for my houseplants in my basement and have been through countless grow lights. In my experience, the clips ons tend to fail after a year and the plugs on some of them, especially the usb ones, have gotten hot enough to melt the plastic. Plus the color usually leans obviously blue or red. I've had these for the last two years: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VD1884R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
They also sell a 4 pack of the 2' lights for $40 or a 4 pack of 1' lights for $30. The yellow version will look more like incandescent lighting than the pinkish white they offer, but even the pink ones aren't super pink. They are a bit more expensive than clip ons, but better quality, way more versatile, but less than Soltech.
They could easily be mounted to the shelves that get less light and any electrical supplier should have longer connecting cords. They would be hidden by the lip of the shelf, can be turned on and off individually or as a group and it would look like you had shelves with accent lighting rather than an obvious grow light.
I've never checked EC or PH, and I top off the containers with fresh nutrients as they need it, altering the nutrient mix according to their growth stage.
Tiny Tim Tomato plants are 2 months old and already fruiting. I have peppers, cilantro, basil, lettuce and tomatoes. Lights are 16 on/8 off.
These are the lights I'm using.
