This is just the washing part I have a separate machine for spinning that is the often bought together thing in Amazon. Little pricey to start but together they make a regular washing machine. I hang everything to dry. I've been using them since last June. I have saved a ton of money and pain in the ass not going to the laundry room at my apartment.
This is the spinner. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CDWTQKI/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_tefcxb9Q6RQ1W
I bought the washing machine and then waited till next payday and bought the spinner when I was sure I needed it.
Would a dry boy work? They are quite popular in China. You might be able to pick one up at diaso on Queen St. Otherwise they have some on amazon. I have used them in the past and they are quite effective. https://www.amazon.com/Dry-Portable-Clothing-Dryer-Heater/dp/B015242TKW
I bought this for my dryer. Works well.

For the washer I have one of these; a bit more expensive than the Smart Dry. You want one with the LG ThinQ AI.
This doesn't leverage the existing Flex in your utility room or the sound of your dryer's buzzer, but a SmartDry device can send alerts to your phone or Alexa devices.
I made this post a while back.
I ended up getting it, I've used it a handful of times. I also have a spin drier that I got with it.
I've been experimenting a bit with this, but for the most part it takes almost 20 minutes per load (which is roughly an A2 gi and some a few boxers/socks/shorts).
My process:
If I could go back I'd get an electric portable washer even though I don't have the space for it. It's way more convenient, but if you don't mind the extra work it's fine.
I hear ya. If you did buy a second set of gear, you can always sell it to recoup some of the funds.
As much as I love playing, I'm not 20 anymore and two-a-days just don't interest me. If I'm playing a game that day, I'm not hitting up the ice again the same day. If anything, I'll spin or do a HIIT or something else that just requires workout clothes.
If you wear proper base layers (not necessarily hockey specific), they'll absorb a lot of sweat and bacteria. That'll help keep your gear at least smelling better longer and may also help drying times. Washing base layers is obviously way easier than washing gear.
You should look into a rocket dryer if space is at a premium or your dad is a stickler about clutter. Doesn't take up much space, doesn't look cluttered, and will dry your gear in 2-3 hours
Yes. There are both washers and dryers you can use in apartments without hookups. The dryer will need a window for the exhaust, or if it's cold, just let it blow out directly into your apartment from some bonus heating. Here's one. For the washer you need to be able to put it close to a sink or bathtub. I had one that came with an adapter for the sink. Something like this.
You might want to look into a spin dryer
I haven't done it myself but I would put clothes out to dry outside. I'll do it inside if humidity is high or it's so cold the water in the clothes will freeze instead of evaporate.
I'm also considering an extra spin dryer manual or electric. https://www.amazon.com/Panda-Portable-Dryer-22lbs-Stainless/dp/B01IRMBG7I/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=manual%2Bclothes%2Bspinner&qid=1660673319&sr=8-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0&th=1
The one above I found is 300 watts and runs for 5minutes per cycle but I assume it will require two cycles.
Two cycles x 300 watts x 5 min/per cycle = 50 Wh = 0.05 kWh per small load. Only some clothes will benefit from this extra cycle.
The manual spin devices could be useful too and some exercise for you too :)
This extra spin dry will shorten the time needed hang dry outside and if inside reduce the humidity need to be removed by your homes ERV.
10 inches on the inside using a ruler from end to end. 14 inches end to end on the exterior of the case. https://www.amazon.com/Laundry-Alternative-Nina-Soft-Dryer/dp/B00CDWTQKI?th=1
If you wanna see it in action
Those work great; Amazon has "portable clothes dryers" that are roughly the same thing but for $50.
I would rather buy the ultrasonic machine inside this "machine" that you can buy for $21 and with it clean clothes in any bucket https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Dishwashers-Ultrasonic-Convenient-Business/dp/B08TBSMN5W/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2FZYHD2C0IHAO&keywords=Ultrasonic+washer&qid=1647188998&sprefix=ultrasonic+washer%2Caps%2C378&sr=8-3
Get a Rocket Dryer (or better yet, a generic equivalent off Amazon), and use it to dry equipment between ice sessions. Putting on cold, wet stuff is kind of gross. Bring an extension cord with a multiplug thing on the end as well since you will likely not be changing in front of an outlet. I'd also bring a box fan to keep air moving in the locker room for the same reason.
In between ice sessions, I'd wear flip flops or Crocs if you are someplace warm enough to allow it. Your feet are going to take a beating so anything that lets them dry out and breathe will be welcome. On the same topic, make sure you have plenty of dry socks to change into for each session.
Make sure you are getting your nutrition and fluids in. Assuming this is a camp outside your home rink, you'll probably be going out for dinner and beers in the evenings, which you absolutely should take advantage of and can be a big part of the fun, but also make sure you get some electrolytes in and the like to be able to make the most of the AM.
As others have noted, don't worry about falling or not being as good as others. If you aren't falling in the drills occasionally, you probably aren't trying hard enough.
Bring a notebook for the chalk talks, and ask if presentations or whatnot are available for you to keep after the event. If they are providing feedback to individual players, pay attention because there is a good chance you can learn something as well.
Just to be honest: Buy a portable bag dehumidifier from shoppe or your country, believe me it will save you a lot of trouble , even with laundry viable hotels .

I recommend anyone to buy this kind of tool if you are traveling anywhere on earth.
Unfortunately the dryer we got is no longer available. It was basically this –
Except ours was 2.6 cubic feet and almost half the price. Prices seem to have skyrocketed since covid. There’s still a few in that price range on Amazon. Our washer was comparable to the units on the site you linked. One thing I would say is don’t trust the washers that claim to wash and dry – the spin dry just doesn’t spin fast enough. This led us to purchasing a drying rack, then a week later we ordered the dryer haha.
So there are 2 options that I know of that would work with a standard outlet, they are on the opposite of the cost spectrum. There's nothing really in between that works on a standard 110v.
one is a "portable" vented dryer. Example below, but a fair amount of companies make these.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EAY540S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_1J0KGFGH1460SBJ6BX7F
The other is a 110v heat pump dryer that plugs into a standard wall outlet. It's ventless, so you'd cap your vent and have the drain hose from the unit share the drain with the washer. This isn't against code to have a ventless unit.
For your dryer you can look into this:

Washer you can use a power monitor via smart plug but will need more complex solution to monitor it.
You could get something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/hOmelabs-Compact-Laundry-Dryer-Adjustable/dp/B08MWS7Z3K
or just air dry.
I can't speak to any of these products but they do appear to work.
Wow... very impressive. Good luck and can't wait to see updates on your progress! You should check this out also for older clothes dryers... https://www.amazon.com/SmartDry-Wireless-Laundry-Clothes-Electric/dp/B07GQBW2KS
Okay, honestly, I love smart things. Lights and thermostat have been great, but there is a limit. Amazon sells a "Smart Microwave" that is on the WiFi and controllable by Alexa- but how does that solve any problems?
But- if you're interested in a smart dryer, I actually think it's really useful. Ours lets us knows when our clothes are dry- even if the dryer still has time left, potentially saving us money any time we take our laundry out early. And it notifies us when the laundry is done on our phones and Alexa since we can't hear the buzz of the laundry in the basement. But I didn't get a smart dryer: just this bad boy:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GQBW2KS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Anyway, I highly recommend this, it's super useful and easy to set up!
I used to use this dryer when I was full timing in a 5th wheel. It works great, just need to be able to vent out some of the heat or you will get bad condensation. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LS36OGC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Hope this helps.
I guess you should try it and figure that out. Interesting use case.
Are you aware of the dryer device on amazon?
SmartDry Wireless Laundry Sensor and App, iOS and Android Mobile Devices. Compatible with Alexa. Smart Dry Notifications for any Clothes Dryer (Gas or Electric), Smart Home Clothes Dryer Accessory https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GQBW2KS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_R-bqFbS1QZXTZ
https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Chef-MCSDRY1S-Laundry-Dryer/dp/B00LS36OGC/ ?
Compact dryers seem to be 110V instead of 220V like the full sized ones, so you're not going to get really "quick" drying".
I bought the Dr. Dry last year. This thing works great. I just bought some plastic clips to hang everything with.
I don't think I had heard of the Panda Dryer at the time, but it looks exactly the same.
I actually had a problem with the motor which stopped working after it got tipped over. Emailed looking for some advice on how to fix it and surprisingly they sent me a whole new motor. Not going to lie though, the whole email process did take a few weeks of back a forth. Nonetheless, very happy with the company.
Hey 90DG!
Yesterday/Wednesday went well! Skipped the morning run in favor of the afternoon group run. Had morning lecture, a meeting, got a flu shot (woohoo!), and did 5 miles with the group. Foot hurts a little bit from that so I'm presently sitting here icing it. =P
Failed to order a portable washer/dryer for our little apartment. There are so many options out there and we got overwhelmed...
Today/Thursday
Dailies
School things -- lecture, lab, lunch talk, library, seminar, evening class.
Write and submit committee statement
(shamelessly posting this again) Order portable washer/dryer things. Does anyone have any experience with these kind of things? We're looking at ordering this and this but we don't know anyone who has them or has even seen them in real life. =P
BQ Hmm, good question. I don't think I have one. Maybe a couple little things from when the SO and I were doing distance.
