Sure! I got mine on Amazon for $14.99.
I don't know if I would pull it out in a restaurant... but then again, maybe I would. It would be nice to know the weight of a dinner roll or some other item. I might be too self-conscious to do that, though.
Make sure it weighs grams, oz and pounds. Also check that the screen is not placed on the weighing platform. My old food scale was like that and when I would put bigger items on I wouldn’t be able to read the screen. Some scales also have a top that folds up 90 degrees to hold bigger items, but a shoe box also works for that. I use a smaller “jewelry” scale for items less than an oz. or two
ACCUTECK All-in-1 Series W-8250-50bs A-Pt 50 Digital With Ac Adapter, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SMHWZ42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_eCdMAbG14WMAW
I have this one now, that I got on amazon for about $17. It’s nice because it takes batteries but also can plug into the wall and has all of the features I talked about above.
Every one has a different process, but I write the drafts on my laptop and then use my iPhone to take photos and then I upload them on the app. I like to write up a big pile of items, like 40-50 and then do the photos.
I suggest this one because it has the movable display, but any of the $20-30 postal scales on Amazon work great.
If you're making sales daily, I'd get a label printer. Those paper and ink costs add up and label printers are cheaper over the long run, faster, and easier to use.
Yes, the more you have listed the better your chances are at sales. But you also want to make sure you have quality items as well. As long you are consistently listing quality items with demand, you will see sales. If you have less than a few hundred items listed, you will most always have wide variance in sales from day to day. You just need either a very in demand inventory or a larger inventory to consistent sales. So just keep listing as many good items as you can.
You need a scale, labels, printer, boxes and tape. Maybe packing materials but I’ve had enough air pillows saved from my amazon purchases that I’ve never had to buy any but I buy a lot of stuff.
If you want to get fancy you could get a barcode scanner, a small label printer for barcodes, and a 4xl label printer for shipping labels but the really aren’t necessary. Especially when you don’t know if you’ll turn a profit yet.
I would recommend you choose a scale that has the display on a cord so you can read it with large packages. Here’s an example: https://amazon.com/dp/B00KYA0RC2/
Also, if you’re using a regular printer rather than label printers, make sure it’s later rather than inkjet. Brother makes good, inexpensive laser printers. If you don’t already have a laser printer, that might make it easier to justify the label printers instead.
Amazon. It is a worthy investment and only cost me ~ $18. The max weight is 50 lbs. Definitely beats using a kitchen scale –– I was very off on weight at times. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/ACCUTECK-W-8250-50bs-Digital-Adapter-Silver/dp/B00SMHWZ42/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=accucheck+scale&qid=1597338451&sr=8-3
You've already checked but be aware that the dimensions could be an issue where the dimensional "weight" for bulky items costs more than the actual weight and has a higher postage cost or could incur a surcharge.
Lastly, invest in a scale and stop overpaying for postage - this is more money in your pocket. Scales are relatively cheap; available on amazon and accurate enough for postal use.
I use this scale and is good for up to 50lbs with an accuracy of .1oz for items less than 20lbs and .2oz for 20-50lbs.
I use this one ( virtually a no name brand ) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SJTXGN7 with my gaggia. I still use the PF with a bottom spout, and I am quite easily able to slide in the scale and the cup. Should work better for a bottomless PF.
Its pretty accurate, may be not as fast as the more expensive ones, but you can quickly get used to offsetting it.
We also have an AccuTeck and love it. This is the one we have.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KYA0RC2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
if you have enough to sell to make the investment worth it, i’d grab one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SMHWZ42/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_btf_t1_0pJCFbH46TSDV
makes a world of difference. i assume you offered free shipping so it’s good that the postage due wasn’t owed by the buyer, but i personally prefer not to offer free shipping—not only does mercari take their fee from your total price, not sans shipping cost, but it’s much easier to figure how much you’re making when it’s all upfront. plus, though you will still get lowballers, at least you’ll know they’re doing it on purpose and not just ignorant to the hidden shipping costs that you’re fronting.
i’d also say to price high enough that you can set smart pricing—and i still wouldn’t have the floor price be your lowest price—so that you get a few days of promotion in search as your price decreases.
not sure if this would work in your situation but i haven’t gone to the post office at all in the short time i’ve been selling. i schedule a pickup with my regular mail delivery and leave my packages on the porch or in a box by the mailbox.
GreaterGoods Digital Pocket Scale, Lab Analytical Scale, Gram Scale, Ounce Scale, Letter Scale, 750g X .1g Accuracy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SJTXGN7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_0YQKTX10F91BN1FJJVNT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It will most likely weigh over 1lb. I'd agree with other posts that 2lbs is around what it'll be. 1-3lbs via FedEx smartpost will be $9.99 and anything over 1lb-5lbs will be $11.50 via UPS. I usually round up just in case so I or the buyer doesn't get stuck with paying the extra postage fee.
Here is the scale I have and would recommend: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SMHWZ42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_4P3ETXAR1FBXGK1WEWYP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is a good investment for shipping Also, if you want to ship for free, with usps, you can use pirate ship which is a bit cheaper than the Mercari labels.

I bought and returned a couple that I was not happy with before getting the one below from Amazon. It's very inexpensive and surprisingly accurate.
https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Weigh-Back-Lit-Features-Included/dp/B00ME8VI34
They have all sorts. This is the one I use. Chose this one because if I turn it sideways it fits on the Flair drip tray, allowing me to weigh output in real time. Also, if I break it, it’s only a few bucks down the drain.
It could come to the buyer with postage due or it might slip by. Be prepared for a negative review from the buyer if that happens. Get a scale so it doesn't happen again and weigh your items with the packaging so you don't get an underweight label. I got mine off of amazon and it weighs up to 110 pounds. It's like this one but red. Accuteck ShipPro 110lbs x 0.1 oz. Digital Shipping Postal Scale, Black (W-8580-110-Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KYA0RC2/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_xNXSEbNHDZEK6
Scale is a good thing to have and a basic one like mine is cheap and easy to store. I picked mine up for $10 on Amazon a little over a year ago. Looks like they’ve gone up a little but well worth the price for the peace of mind: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SJTXGN7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M4E7H30K171T7QDJ84CW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Wish it did 2 decimal places instead of just the one but again, I paid $10. 🤷🏻♂️
I use this one. I like it for two reasons:
https://www.amazon.com/Accuteck-ShipPro-Digital-Shipping-W-8580-110-Black/dp/B00KYA0RC2
I've got this one:
Seems accurate as far as I can tell. It can handle tenths of an ounce just fine.
Here is the link to the one I have! I used to sell a lot and this was a life saver. Just make sure you weigh your items with packaging and any protective stuffing.
Good luck!

I got this one that was recommended by Pirate Ship Accuteck ShipPro 110lbs x 0.1 oz. Digital Shipping Postal Scale, Black (W-8580-110-Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KYA0RC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GRJCPS0TEP2WKT76K9W3
I went thru my Amazon orders to find the one I have, which I love, and sheesh, I guess I ordered some stuff last year :)
Try this one - it's 19.99, I've had it for 3+ years, and the one before it lasted 8 years:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SMHWZ42/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also, I really like this scale because it’s super skinny. GreaterGoods Digital Pocket Scale, Lab Analytical Scale, Gram Scale, Ounce Scale, Letter Scale, 750g X .1g Accuracy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SJTXGN7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W92KN6027Q4F7RJ2GS3W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Weigh-Digital-Back-Lit-Features/dp/B00IZ1YHZK/
This is the ones I've used everyday for the past 6 years. No issues! I can't even recall changing the battery yet. Fits my French press, size 2 chemex, and fellow carafe for my Kalitta.
The rates aren't cheap... but the buyer pays the shipping.
I use this scale: https://www.amazon.com/ACCUTECK-W-8250-50bs-Digital-Adapter-Silver/dp/B00SMHWZ42/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=postal+scale&qid=1609456836&sr=8-5
It's ridiculously easy. Once you have all the stuff (and you don't need much), you can mix a batch (easier to mix a large batch than a small one) in less than 10 minutes.
1) Read some stuff in /r/DIY_eJuice .
2) Buy a scale capable of 0.01g resolution. The one I have (recommended by the sub) is this one : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SVNEWA (The 500g capacity one is the only one in that line with the 0.01g resolution)
3) Get your ingredients, pipettes, and bottles. I buy just about everything from Amazon.
Essential Depot straight USP VG, about $13 a quart.
Food grade squeeze bottles with caps, 4oz or larger. I have a few 4oz, and a few bigger 10 oz ones.
Small juice bottles (30-50ml). I get these from Amazon or Fasttech.
A bag of 100 pipettes is cheap.
Flavorings and nicotine, there's plenty of places to buy. I got mine from MyFreedomSmokes.com.
I bought 24mg Nicotine, because I only vape 3mg and I didn't want to have 100mg nic around the house. That way even if I fuck up (almost impossible), you won't kill yourself or get sick. I got VG based nicotine.
If you want PG in your mix, you can get PG from amazon as well. I mix max VG, so the only PG in my mix is from the flavoring.
I only currently vape one recipe, the one I posted above. Using a spreadsheet I created, I can adjust my recipe to any size.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IwSXRnAK3eUtkOrGrrb14g-6bJ7MsfYsSMS0BlUgl0A/edit?usp=sharing
It looks a little complicated, but it's really not. I bought a 250ml erlenmeyer flask to mix in, but you can use whatever.
For under $50, you can get going with a simple recipe. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. I've been thinking about doing a short video tutorial on how to do it.
I can't speak to the quality of this product whatsoever, but it's got quite a good bit of good reviews on Amazon, and matches the bill exactly.
It's the SmartWeigh Zip600. Got mine from Amazon (easy link). It's pretty tiny for a scale, and is perfect for quick weight checks on fast food or a million other "my bigger scale is at home" moments!
Does anyone have any recommendations for a scale to weigh my water with? I'm trying to get more accurate with my volumes than simply pouring the water into a gallon jug and guessing what the in between is. Considering this one.
Also, if anyone has a link to a metal ruler that does not have a cork back to it, my amazon searches are coming up short.
I saw this one on Amazon, looks pocket sized. https://smile.amazon.com/Smart-Weigh-ZIP600-Digital-Counting/dp/B00GTX3LAI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1509034791&sr=8-4&keywords=small+food+scale
