A quick 30 second explanation of what Soylent is:
Most people start with food and then decide which foods one should eat. Soylent started the other way- their founder made a list of all the substances an adult human body needs to operate, and put that in a shake. The result is a drink that's nutritionally complete- that means 2000 calories of Soylent contains everything your body needs to be healthy, including carbs, lipids, protein, micronutrients, etc etc.
What you've got is Soylent 2.0- the latest version of Soylent that comes in pre-mixed bottles. Each bottle has 400 calories, so it's about the same as a single meal. Most people seem to like the taste- I drink the stuff every day and couldn't be happier.
The way most people seem to use them is to replace meals of necessity- meals where you have no particular reason to eat (not going to a special restaurant, not meeting friends, etc) but are still hungry. This is how I use Soylent- if I'm craving some food or another I go eat that food, but if I'm just generically hungry and have nothing else going on, I grab a Soylent. This is both cheaper than most food options and better nutritionally.
Hopefully you like it! If you like it you can order more from Soylent's website or it's also an Amazon Subscribe & Save product. It's about $3/bottle, which (compared to a fast food or deli meal) is pretty competitive.
I would keep a stock of the special K, Ensure, or Boost nutrient meal replacement shakes.
Boost Plus Complete Nutritional Drink, Rich Chocolate, 8 fl oz Bottle, 24 Pack (Packaging May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LWUP3QI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MYhKDbSNHFRXP
You could literally ‘toss and wash’ if need be. If worse comes to worse, you could use it as a mixer. You need nutrients or you’re going to have issues quickly. Best to you !
Protein "milk shakes" are also a great way to sneak in extra nutrients.
Orgain's Vegan Creamy Chocolate Fudge is my go to. Blending it with some spinach, milk, half a banana and some ice always tricks me body into believing it is drinking a chocolate milk shake- it tastes that good!

You can get a large tub for around $20 on Amazon.

PS- As a fellow twin I just wanted to say how lucky your sister is to have you. <3
I commented earlier in the thread but I'm a strong proponent of Soylent as well.
I suggest trying both the powder and the liquid. Powder is much cheaper($1.83 powder vs $2.63 liquid per 400kcal), but that won't do you much good if it just sits in your pantry because you don't want to clean the container to mix up a new batch and wait for it to sit.
If you end up going liquid, it's now available on Amazon Launchpad - https://www.amazon.com/Soylent-Ready-Drink-Food-Bottles/dp/B01EUEIL3E?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
If you set up a subscription for either the powder or the liquid on soylent.com, you get 5% off. If you subscribe to the liquid on amazon, it's 5% off, but if you subscribe to 5 items on amazon it goes up to 15% off.
I know this looks like a shill post, but I really have no association with soylent other than finding their product to be a real benefit to me. With that said, check out /r/soylent as well, because one thing that really makes me love Soylent is they really don't care about people making DIY copies or even competing with them, so there are a lot of soylent clones out there and if you're not in america some of those other ones will be easier to get. A lot of the clones have more flavor options which I'd love to try, but if you are in america, most of the clones are much more expensive to ship here.
You can of course flavor soylent yourself however you want as its very neutral, both powder and liquid. With the liquid I like to squirt in some chocolate syrup and just shake it in the bottle. With the powder, flavored protein powder works well if you know what you're doing (e.g you arent depending on the bottle being 400kcals /trying to use it to track your intake closely), and blending the powder with some fresh fruit is a good way to go. Though I most often just drink it as is, it's not bad, it's just not good, it's just..what you need.
I drink soylent bottles from Amazon and the only deficiencies I had last blood test were Vitamin D ( from sunlight? ) and it was winter.
Each bottle is 20% daily requirements . And 400 calories and taste like a mixture of left over Cheerio milk and pancake batter. (Not sweet, but neutral enough and can be mixed with stuff). It’s like almond milk consistency or a tiny thicker, not too thick.
pea protein powder. you can add it in dairy free milk, oatmeal, and dairy free yogurt! :)
my local walmart & vitamin stores carry this brand as well pea protein
Go here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EUEIL3E/
Click the Subscribe Now button, fill out all the info then "confirm subscription", this adds one box on the interval you selected. Hit back a few times to get back to the product page and repeat at least 4 more times to get 5 subscriptions into your queue and it'll take off the 15%. Then just wait for your ship date to roll around.
You can add more, skip a few, skip entire months, whatever you want and as long as you have 5 at a time on a single month you'll get 15%.
Amazon store card will get you an addition 5% off in a statement credit.
As quinn said you can add each BOX as a subscription item. Here are some directions I wrote on another thread for someone that was having issues:

You were probably looking at listings from unauthorized resellers, which is a common mistake because Amazon does fuck-all to clarify if you're looking at the real listing or not.
You're better off bookmarking the correct page since Amazon makes it so difficult to find: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EUEIL3E/
Any other 2.0 listing you might find is an unauthorized reseller, and at the current time any listing for any Soylent product other than 2.0 is also unauthorized. They did have bars officially listed for a while, and I think they're working on Coffiest. Also, if the page doesn't say "Amazon Launchpad", you're definitely in the wrong place.
The base Amazon price and the base website price are always identical. The Soylent website offers a 5% discount for subscriptions; Amazon offers a base 5% discount for subscriptions but it rises to 15% if you have 5 or more Subscribe & Save items shipped to you in your monthly shipment. You can do this with 5 boxes of 2.0, but you have to do 5 individual subscriptions; it won't count if you do 1 subscription with a quantity of 5.
You can get the same 15% discount on the Soylent website with the 5% subscription discount + 10% coupon discount; there are permanent 10% coupon codes and occasional larger coupon codes, but they only apply to the first shipment of the subscription so you have to constantly cancel and re-subscribe. Amazon is a lot simpler, plus a lot of people have credit cards that give cash back on Amazon purchases.
I break out with acne every time I drink a whey shake, so I switched to plant-based protein powders a few years ago. I tried a few hemp powders and they tasted awful. I found a powder I really like from the Orgain brand. It's comparable in taste and texture to some of the whey powders I used to drink. They sell it at Costco in Southern California on sale at $24 for 2.74 lbs, which I stock up on, otherwise it's $30 normally. You can also get it off Amazon.
Note: Do not get Vanilla bean, it tastes awful.
/r/veganfitness
I do, I usually have a scoop or two a day. I like blends. True Nutrition vegan protein optimizer is my favorite (45% pea, 45% rice, 10% hemp). And it's cheap, $9/lb. You can also build your own blend on their website, it's super easy. And they have a coupon that saves you 5% off site-wide, never expires "GOVEGAN"
I also hear good things about Orgain, but haven't tried it. Saw it on amazon earlier for $17 ($8.50/lb) https://www.amazon.com/Orgain-Organic-Protein-Powder-Chocolate/dp/B00J074W94/?th=1
Orgain protein powder is $10.95/lb amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Orgain-Organic-Protein-Vanilla-Packaging/dp/B00J074W94?th=1
Truenutrition is $9.50 / lb (Plus $7 flat rate shipping, you choose how many lbs): https://truenutrition.com/p-1169-vegan-protein-optimizer-formula-1lb.aspx?
Non-whey and non-plant, so are you basically specifically looking for egg protein recommendations?
I usually recommend Orgain, but it's plant based. However, it tastes great! And it's easy to get at Costco or Amazon.
Orgain is the best I have tried.

It's currently on sale for a great price, but from Amazon it's usually about $21-22 a container, which comes to $1.10 per serving, which is still much cheaper than what you're using now.
Chocolate is definitely the better flavor, and looking at the label it's not actually hemp. But it's cheap, tasty, and good enough.
Oh awesome.
You can hit a high protein requirement on a vegan diet. I drink protein powder too, and while I tried two vegan protein powder brands that were gross, Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge has been really good, and doesn't include soy. There's also Ripple brand Pea Milk, that's more protein dense than cow milk, which doesn't include soy, and there are nut milk which have a high amount of protein which are also soy free.
While tofu and soy based alternative meat are off-limits, there's Seitan, which is very protein dense (100 calories have 20g of protein) and apparently can be used to make a legit steak, which is still crazy to me.
This one doesn't have that chalky taste. I tried it and recommend it.

Fairlife elite shakes. 42g protein per bottle. Also they are delicious.
Order in bulk on Amazon and they are pretty affordable.

I usually get the Walmart brand but I wanted to try something new so right now I have the Amazon brand but they're both great.
Also since you are a new subscriber, if you want to get a 15% discount check out the Subscribe and Save option from Amazon. Ordering at least 5 boxes will get you 15% off and you can always change your qty (minimum 5 at a time for 15%), cancel or push off months at-will.

Is the official sold and shipped by Amazon that is also available for Subscribe and Save, it's currently unavailable but does that now and again, has never messed with my monthly shipment though.
I doubt you're missing anything. The eBay dude probably buys the patches straight from the SpaceX store, and sells them on eBay for a nice markup.
We see the same thing in /r/soylent. Soylent is a meal in a bottle shake that sells direct from the manufacturer (or from Amazon) for about $34 per case of 12 bottles. People still resell it for $22 for 3 bottles. Note that on that second link, the product isn't sold by Amazon, it's sold by a 3rd party. The 3rd party just orders the first link, splits the 12-bottle case up into 4x 3-bottle packs, and sells the 3-packs individually, making $54 for each case they split and resell.
I have no idea why anyone would buy 3 bottles for $22 when you can buy 12 bottles for $34, but apparently some people do.
Aww poor little guy, that's definitely a sad experience! I always tell myself that I'm young enough to see allergies cured in my lifetime, so fingers crossed for the both of us!
That's rough with the distance to grocery stores, yikes! Seems like homemade stuff from scratch may have to be his staple! PCC is an upscale-ish grocery store that sells all the organic, gluten-free, egg-free kind of stuff. Bit cheaper than Whole Foods, but still not the most wallet-friendly place you could shop. Sadly, most of the allergy-friendly stuff is expensive everywhere =/
Does Amazon Fresh deliver out to you guys? I've never used them, but it could be a good option! I'd also recommend Orgain's Organic Nutrition shakes, I had to go on a liquid-only diet for some surgery recently, and that stuff literally kept me alive! Super tasty too, I love the chocolate flavor! I get them from Amazon, they don't need refrigeration so I'll just buy as many as I can afford when they go on sale and then stuff them wherever I can. Here's a link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JTX7SH2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I found dealing with allergies at school a bit rough when I was younger, but it certainly gets easier! So long as he has something he's comfortable eating during parties and such that should make things better!
I have this same problem and I LOVE the Orgain protein powder. Sold here on Amazon, or at Costco.
Not just Pedia-Sure, but also the Carnation breakfast drinks. My fruend had the same issue, not really gaining weight and her doctor told her mother to give her these drinks. She gained weight.
If you’re worried about the sugar content, go for the ones from Amazon - these
They’re good and I use them for myself and my children. When my youngest went through a period of vomiting so much he was losing weight, this drink helped him gain it back.
Your dad’s a douche for installing all those buttons, and I’m sorry. But I also applaud you, because you recognize that thtese buttons were installed. You’re miles better than he ever was.
I can also relate to the little girl wanting her daddy thing - I have had the same moments, even now even though he’s passed. I want the daddy I thought I had back, not this THING that he became. hugs if you want them.
That's not a problem, if you are planning to stop by, I'm happy to share. As long as we're in town at the same time and you can come downtown. (It's difficult for me to leave work when I'm busy)
If you end up not coming to SD, you can buy it on Amazon. Be sure to click around. There are a few flavors. It's a shame the variety pack is no longer sold by Amazon. The mark-up by the third party seller is ridiculous. It used to be 4 flavors for $5, and they give you a $5 credit if you decide to buy more.

I use this protein, with the subscribe & save discount + 5% amazon credit card discount, it cost me about .75 cent a serving. Plus it tastes good.
You gotta get Boost Rich Chocolate and drink them with every meal.
They taste good and they're easy on the stomach!
Just wondering: Has anyone tried Soylent, the 'meal replacement'? I never lost my sense of taste or smell when I had Covid-19 for the month and a half that I had it, but I'm wondering if something like this would be good since it provides a days worth of nutrients and vitamins (5 bottles per day).
