It is this simple little lap stand from Amazon. I love how quick it is to take apart for packing into my carry-on for retreats!
I use that frame, and have purchased longer rods from Michael’s to use for larger projects. It allows you to turn the project over.
It's this one but it isn't currently available through Amazon 😿
They do have a slightly different one available, it just has less mobility.
I like this one, you just place it on the floor and when you sit down it is at your level. Plus the clamp bar thing in front is nice to decorate. I've put a bunch of needle minders on there.

For a floor stand, I reccomend this. I use it for every size piece and it's very secure. A set of qsnaps and extenders will pretty much cover every size and shape you need and they are easier on fabric than hoops. They are excellent with that floor frame because you feed them in by the corners and they are so stable! I linked Amazon so you get good pics, look around for better prices. Good Luck!
Try a lap or tabletop stand. Put it on a countertop/tabletop. Mine is adjustable height. Could use it standing, depending on how tall you are.
You want to look for universal style stands or stands that have adapters that can make them universal. I have something similar to this stand. It's not the best stand and does struggle to hold up the larger (11x11+) qsnaps but it does work for my 8x8 qsnap.
Alternatively a lot of people have made diy qsnap stands using pvc pipe from their local hardware/plumbing stores. I haven't so I'm not sure on specifics but there are lots of tutorials available via a search.
If space is an issue, I use this stand. I have bought other larger dowels to use larger fabric with it too. It breaks down for quick, easy storage. Lap/Table stand
OH I GOT ONE! Been using it a while, soooo good. Easy to use and pretty stable. It’s not huge but you can plop the stand under your leg or butt while sitting or laying down or at a desk.
The universal craft stand! Amazon has it here, though I've also seen them at Joanns and Michaels (not sure what stores you have available). I definitely want to get one soon.
Absolutely— I’m using a scroll frame that I can adjust to any height so I can stitch while sitting. I got it off of amazon, but it doesn’t look like it’s available anymore. I’m sure you can find something similar if you’re interested in it though!
I hope you love it as much as I love mine! I have the Diana Frame with the Z shaped legs - you can buy it as a set with a scroll frame on amazon for about $45.
One of the first reviews on there is really detailed and she shows you how you can change the leg set up from a Z to a C shape to accommodate your needs.
I only hand-quilt, and I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Quilting-Quilt-N-Go-14-Inch-Frame/dp/B0052UN3PW/
Disassembled, the frame takes up about as much space as a rolled-up newspaper, and it snaps together really quickly. I fold or roll my project, stick the frame inside it, and stash it whenever I need it out of the way.
Also, look up quilt-as-you-go patterns, which are designed to do exactly what you're talking about!
I'm sorry to hear that! The Rocky Giraffe one looks exactly like mine, but mine is
I really like mine a lot; it feels very sturdy and quality, and my problem is that it grips maybe too hard, lol. I don't know if you'd feel up to risking another similar setup but maybe a different brand would make a difference?
I use this stand with my Q snaps (currently 11 x 17, I think) and it’s pretty impressive for the price.
I use a lap stand, which is really easy to use when sitting on a couch. Pretty cheap & I brought on with a clamp so I can use my own frames / hoops but you can get interchangeable size hoops for it too
the wooden Flat base goes under a leg, and the height of the clamp/ hoop is adjustable
no good for larger frames but I’m so pleased I brought one.
You can get the elbesee one in craft stores online and also get the elbesee hoops with or without it
Oh my get yourself a floor stand! This one clamps onto hoops and a qsnap! Here is the link I got mine on Amazon. I think Joanne's sells it and so does Michael's. I actually like these so much I've given them as gifts but I've only gotten Edmunds because that's the kind of I like! Hang in there keep stitching I hope! Frank A. I love how adjustable it is in that you can adjust the height as well as the scroll bars and how you attach the scroll frame to the legs. My one big con to it is that the knobs don't hold position very well. Every time I pick it up the legs don't hold position. But it hasn't detracted from my stitching. I just have to give them a request whenever I put it over my lap.
I bought this one 2 years ago, and I like it. I don't use it allll the time, but when I do its quite comfortable! The only thing was it took 3-4 weeks to arrive.

I use one like this. Same size but I think mine was a different brand. Dritz is decent supplies though, or at least I haven't had problems with their stuff.
I agree with everyone say you don’t need a frame for these types of kits, but I like to use one anyway as it helps me control the canvas a bit better. I use Handi Clamp scroll frames. The canvas just snaps in and I roll it to the part I’m working on. I also put soft batting between the canvas and the scroll bit so I don’t flatten the worked stitches too much. this is what I have:link
First and foremost - the only rules are as follows: thread goes through needle, needle goes through fabric. Everything else is artistic interpretation.
2nd - the best tool is good lighting. I had eye strain for a few years when I first started stitching by using just a regular table lamp, same as I would for reading. Then I got craft lights specific for my stitching spot, which helped. But then I got my first Ott light (before full spectrum bulbs were widely available), and I've used them and a little Mighty Bright LED light ever since. I also use magnifiers when necessary, and while I have reading glasses, I use 3.0s for stitching.
3rd, I love my floor stand. Well, I actually have a love/hate thing with my floor stand - it's a super cheapie that I have had my husband modify over the years to do everything I want - it is definitely a Frankenstein, but it works with either my QSnaps or my scroll frames. Two-handed stitching is the way to go, it's so much faster than 1-handed while holding a frame. If I have to hold a frame now, I feel completely clumsy.
Lastly, don't be afraid to try new things - there are a thousand sources for new-to-you stitches, and it's not a bad idea to keep a doodle cloth around, or practice new stitches in the margin of your work. You never know when you might run into your new favorite stitch :)
I use a plastic frame i just sit on my lap. When I'm not using it the pieces come apart to get put in a drawer out of the way.

I don't have that exact one. I don't remember my brand but its pretty much the exact same thing.
I've been using this stand for 4 years 🤓

Hi OP,
I use the type of scroll frame that has long plastic clips like you see on a Qsnap, in conjunction with K's Creation floor stand that easily allows for flipping.
I just watched a lovely video on the Millennium scroll frame and stand. Have to say I'm extremely intrigued with the tightness it offers.
