It’s not for children. It’s a tongue in cheek book like the book “Go the Fuck to Sleep” It is real bible stories though. Here’s the amazon link from Canada; it’s got a decent-sized description. https://www.amazon.ca/Awkward-Moments-Found-Average-Childrens/dp/149217744X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=61491124739&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgIyb2amB5AIVj_5kCh2I6QTsEAAYASAAEgK2r_D_BwE&hvadid=310045490054&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9001437&hvnetw=g&...
Except that’s not what happens. They eat of the fruit of knowledge which is what kicks them out. It’s an allegory for adulthood/leaving behind innocence, knowing the difference between right/ wrong and being self aware enough to feel shame (hence covering the body.) The creation story is an explanation why humanity isn’t childlike, and living in paradise. A lot of modern translations have tamed down the sexual language in scripture but there is a shit ton of sex, and sex play going on in the Bible. The Book of Genesis by Robert Crumb is a silly read but good at shocking people into realize how much sex goes on in the Bible.
I haven’t bought it yet, but plan to tonight, looks like it will go nice with my other bible-esque books my family isn’t happy about.
I second this. I got R. Crumb's Illustrated Book of Genesis to read with my daughter. (Highly recommend! The illustrations are perfect, and he actually chose a decent translation. Given his history, I expected something entirely different.)
Such silly stories. Such interesting discussions. We got about 2/3 of the way through Genesis before we gave up. Her comment was, "They call it the good book, but it's not a very good book."
There's a few comic book bibles, they just lack in the Frank Miller grittiness / violence.

I had something like this as a kid, and let me fucking tell you that "action" slows way the hell down with the New Testament.
The "Left Behind" movies are terrible theology. Don't watch a movie; read the book. Why would you settle for filtering the Word of God through someone else's imagination?
If a comic book format works better, there is a graphic novel version of the Book of Revelation that has very nicely done illustrations, which strictly presents the text along with illustrations, rather than presenting a fictional notion of what will happen such as in the various movies people are suggesting. Don't settle for some person's imagination; read the text for yourself.
If you are interested in studying end-times prophecy (which is so much more than just Revelation, but also includes lots of prophecies from other books, including Daniel, Isaiah, Zechariah, etc. from the Old Testament, and 1 and 2 Thessalonians, and various sermons from the Gospels) I am in the process of posting a series of studies on various topics, with roughly 20 studies lined up to be posted in the coming months.
Confess your sins and ask God to forgive you. Forgive all who have sinned against you. If you’re having trouble with either of these, ask God to help you. He is your father and he loves you!
I pray in the name of Jesus for God to forgive you for your sins, to fill you with the Holy Spirit, and to let you feel his presence.
Spend a little time tonight reading or listening to the Bible and ask God to be with you.
As well, ask God for help with walking away from any influences in your life such as games, music, books etc that are drawing you away from him. He is probably letting you know what to get rid of.
I hope you don’t mind that I checked your post history and saw that manga is a problem for you. I suggest The Action Bible instead, which is fantastic.
God bless you.
The Goddamned is going right on my Amazon Wishlist. And in exchange since you said you haven't read any Ghost Rider, and you gushed over the artwork of how badass he can look on fire, I am going to open your eyes, friend. Garth Ennis writes a crude story with some immature dialogue and jokes (if you've read any or watched any Preacher, you'd know what I'm talking about). Clayton Crain though, God damn. Feast your eyes on Ennis and Crain's 2005-2006 6-issue mini-series for some serious poster-worthy Ghost Rider.
I bought these from Amazon for my mom for her birthday and they are really beautiful, definitely even better in person than online. Bonus that they’re pretty affordable also :)
Hey! I don't have this deck, but from flip throughs I've seen on youtube etc. I think the Star Spinner Tarot by Trungles fits this description! Each suit seems to have its own distinct characters and storyline. This video on Youtube shows the cards and you can see the stories of the suits. Good luck!
I find this book extremely funny to reference when people try to defend the Bible.
[Awkward Moments](Awkward Moments (Not Found in... https://www.amazon.com/dp/149217744X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). It is funny and informative.
If you like this, you’ll love R. Crumb’s “Book of Genesis” illustrated.
The best part? Robert Crumb is one of the hippy comic artists from the 1960’s. You might assume his take on Genesis would be filled with the anti-authority type humor from his comics.
But no! He plays it straight and to the letter! Somehow, that makes it even better!
I got the R. Crumb illustrated version of Genesis and read it out loud with my daughter when she was ten or twelve. We made it about half way through. Her comments was, "They call it the good book. But it's not a very good book."
Don't indoctrinate her, but help her understand that different people believe all sorts of things. I read my daughter Greek mythology, Indian mythology, Bible stories, and anything else I could find.
The origin myth of the Indian god Ganesha is great. Ganesha's father Shiva had never met his son and accidentally killed him. That really pissed off Ganesha's mom (Shiva's wife), and she insisted that Shiva bring Ganesha back to life. Shiva found the nearest living being, an elephant, and grafted the elephant's head onto his son's body. Origin of the elephant headed God! My daughter's favorite was the story of how Demeter caused the seasons because she was unhappy that Hades stole her daughter to the underworld. There is an absolutely wonderful illustrated version of Genesis by cartoonist Robert Crumb. My daughters conclusion about half way through was, "They call it the good book, but it's not a very good book."
My theory is that when kids see the wide variety of stories, many of them conflicting with each other, they will figure out that they can't all be true, and that most probably none of them are. You can certainly share your own belief that none of them are.
My daughter had religious relatives who talked about Jesus and God. I could have started a big fight, but I thought it was much healthier to simply acknowledge that different people believe different things.
Here is the one I’ve seen, but I’m sure there’s more than one out there
i recommend this short booklet for some highlights. (there are two books in this series)

If you are interested is some biblically accurate illustrated books, R.Crumb has a great book of Genesis also The Brick Bible is a Lego book of Bible stories, some you may not have heard before.
I don’t know if this is quite what you had in mind, but I highly recommend “The Action Bible.” It’s the Bible in graphic novel form. Incredibly engaging, non-cheesy (I promise), and sticks remarkably close to the Bible.
You would probably like The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb. It's an actual dead-tree book and faithful to the text -- which means, ironically, that you wouldn't want to take to church.
BTW - if you’re asking because you’re interested in buying it, be careful, because there’s a lot of knock-offs floating around. The first time I bought it they were still pretty but they were playing card size and came in a nothing-special cardboard box with instructions to download the guide as a PDF from a weird website, which tipped me off. When I realized I didn’t have the actual set, I returned them and ordered the right one from Amazon to support the artist. The real one comes in a pretty, sturdy, decorated, fold-out box, and the cards are larger, more vibrant, and printed on better card stock. The back isn’t pictured here but it’s also beautiful and it’s a little shiny on the real set. It also includes the guide as a small book, which the others won’t.
Yes! Religions are full of stories. You can tell them right along with the traditional children's stories like Curious George and Dr. Seuss.
I picked up The Book of Genesis, Illustrated by R. Crumb, which is a fun way to get some of the old bible stories like Noah and Adam and Eve. "Back when people didn't know about evolution, they thought that God must have created the first people." We didn't make it through the whole thing, but my daughter got the idea. I remember at one point she said, "They call it 'the good book,' but it's not a very good book."
My theory is that early childhood is all about stories and nobody worries about truth. And then later childhood is about differentiating fact from fiction. Can elephants really talk like Babar does? Are chimpanzees really curious like George is? Did God really flood the planet and kill almost everyone and everything? If you've blended religious stories in with kids stories, it's natural to consider fact and fiction for all of them.
That reminds me of the epic covers of “the Bible 2” series of books https://www.amazon.com/Bible-Hail-King-Jews-Baby-ebook/dp/B07VP8XTQ3/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=the+bible+2&qid=1633447430&sr=8-3#immersive-view_1633447441957
R. Crumb did an illustrated version of the book of Genesis and he said he pretty much copied everything from the old Cecil B Demille biblical epic movies like The Ten Commandments. There are tons of detailed drawings in that book though. It might be worth a look.
This is from a satire children’s bible series.
Awkward Moments (Not Found in Your Average) Children’s Bible
They’re great. I have all three volumes.
Depending on her maturity, this book may be a bit too old for her, but The Action Bible is excellent. It’s recommended for 7+, but according to reviews, 5 year olds have loved it. They have a version for younger kids, although I’ve never read it.

You'll love it. It's so accurate nobody could complain. Not even about the sex scenes.
Zhuangzi is very creative, it’s all fiction and fantasy stories with underlying points. It’s been a long time since I’ve read it but there is a free translation of the Inner Chapters that might be of use. It has some commentary during the stories and also an introduction to his style of writing etc. Might be a good complement, PDF can be found here
There is also a neat comic book translation of Zhuangzi that might be of interest to people. The Way of Nature
It's not a study bible - or maybe not even a real bible at all -- but get "The Action Bible"
Seriously, it's awesome. I'm old and I even love it. My church keeps these in the lobby for kids who are bored during church and I'll grab one and read it.
2,500 reviews and almost all are five stars!
