Hey guys! I’ve been wanting to get into vinyl for a few years. I started doing research this January and bought my LP-120 at the beginning of March. I know I’ve gone a little crazy, and my wallet hates me at this point, but I am addicted!
I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to display the vinyl, shelves seemed like a really expensive option for such a huge wall. Ultimately I decided to just buy trim from Lowe’s for the lip of the shelf, and a crown molding insert for underneath. I absolutely love it! What do you guys think?
For anyone interested the display records are:
Ed Sheeran - Plus Garden State Soundtrack No Doubt - Magic Kingdom Arcade Fire - Everything Now Jeff Buckley - Grace Taylor Swift - reputation The Smiths - The Queen is Dead The Beatles - Abbey Road Michael Jackson - Thriller FleetwoodMac - Rumors Haim - Something to tell you Weezer - The blue album John Bellion - The human condition Daft punk - Random access memories Lana Del Rey - Born to die Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 experience 500 days of summer soundtrack The Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy up the girl The Who - Tommy Taylor swift - 1989 The 1975 - The 1975 Halsey - Badlands Adele - 25 Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon
Now spinning : Bon Iver - 22, a million
Edit:
I keep getting questions about the speaker stands, here they are.
Atlantic 77335799 Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs - Pair (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
They are VideoSecu , found them on amazon very cheap. VideoSecu 2 Heavy duty PA DJ Club Adjustable Height Satellite Speaker Stand Mount - Extends 26.5" to 47" (i.e. Bose, Harmon Kardon, Polk, JBL, KEF, Klipsch, Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer and others) 1B7 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VRREPG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_N7lAAbZFQ9YDN
Here’s what I have. They work great. No vibrations on hard wood.
VIVO Premium Universal 25 inch Floor Speaker Stands for Surround Sound and Book Shelf Speakers (STAND-SP03B) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MCS2ZLO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TK3cFbGA7Y42W
I got these! The cords do not fit inside but I wrapped them around and it looks fine.
20" is very low.
BF31-B1 may be too tall at 31". More Sanus options.
The steel options seem to have a nice painted finish, not bare metal.
If you have the space and money, you should invest in some speaker stands. That’ll improve the soundstage of your music and reduce vibrations.
Here is a pair that I use. They’re pretty inexpensive compared to other stands, but they get the job done for me.
Atlantic Adjustable Speaker Stands 2-Pack Black - Steel Construction, Pedestal Style & Wire Management for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs PN77335799 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007P8DKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M7W3FKM59NMCB4GH3QBQ
Why not get speaker stands and leave the surrounds where they are now?
Some sort of slim adjustable stand like this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000289DC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just looked that up and I think I have the exact same ones in small!
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002ATK2OS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_i_YP5898WS9XWKSTE8SRZ2?psc=1
not a reference link btw, I just hit share and grabbed the link
Thanks! They're JBL 308p Mkii's and these are the stands. The stands are a bit funky with monitors these big on carpeted floor, but they work. I routed them up through the cable holes just because I don't have the space on the sides of the desk for them, and don't have the space to pull the desk out from the wall.
Using a Scartlett 2i2 to interface the speakers with my PC.
Sure, they are the following stands from Amazon:
VIVO Premium Universal Floor Speaker Stands for Surround Sound & Book Shelf Speakers (STAND-SP03B) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MCS2ZLO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_o4ZYybC90Z5V8
The price was definitely right. I do not use the spikes. Instead the speakers are just simply sitting on top of the metal plate and that has been fine. If something was prone to bump into the stand though the speaker could tip.
i have a really similar setup, i put my audioengines on these stands i got cheap from amazon:
they allow for clean cable routing, absolve you of the cardinal sin of having speakers and TT on the same surface, and just plain look nice
These speaker stands are $45.89 on Amazon. They support up to 20lbs, and stand 30in tall. The top plate is 6in by 6in, and the bottom playe is 10in by 10in. Thay also have small holes for cable management.
Do you mean the speaker risers? I got from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audioengine-Ds2-Desktop-Speaker-Stand/dp/B005STCILC/ref=sr_1_10
I have the matching speakers but they should work with any similar speaker!
Are you opposed to actual monitor stands?
The ones I have can tilt. I have mine up high and facing downward towards my ears.
VideoSecu 2 Heavy duty PA DJ Club Adjustable Height Satellite Speaker Stand Mount - Extends 26.5" to 47" (i.e. Bose, Harmon Kardon, Polk, JBL, KEF, Klipsch, Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer and others) 1B7 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VRREPG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6iiJBbQH8K6D3
comes in 24" or 28" https://www.amazon.com/Monolith-Inch-Speaker-Stand-Each/dp/B076HX81WZ fill the stand with sand or I did copper bb's then use blutack to hold the speakers to the stand, they won't go anywhere after that.
I have the Q90R (2019) and bought these--
PERLESMITH Speaker Stands Extend... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07925B8PD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I am probably gonna get the Q990B on BF next month, and I would buy those stands again, they haven't given me any problems and I've been pleased.
"Adequate" stands is up to interpretation. You could just get something not too expensive and sturdy and it will be fine. Or if you want something fancy and expensive, you can get the KEF stands.
Alright, thanks, guess I will still go for that 2.1 amp then.
Sadly I couldn't find adjustable stands, but I found a solid one that is close enough for my desk, slightly taller.
Atlantic bookshelf speaker stands, supports 20 pounds, 30 inches tall ($65): https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-77335799-Speaker-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B007P8DKDE
Welp, time to research microphones now, see ya!
How about use these so you can have better positioning.
https://www.amazon.com/Sanus-Adjustable-Height-Speaker-Stand/dp/B002HZHUCW

Maybe to the sides of the listening position or slight at the back pointing to the central listening position. Also maybe position the around ear level near the level of the sound bar? So that the audio calibration won't need to make such big adjustments for the delay and volume for the atmos ceiling bounced sound?
I had our rears on end tables, but the elevation really helps in ATMOS effect.
I bought the linked stands at Amazon, two power cables and two replacement plugs. I am cutting the plug off the cable, stringing them through the stands and then installing the replacement plugs. I'm not a fan of the wires showing. Also, the power cables are longer than the Samsung provided ones so I don't have to run extension cords.
The projector is connected to a FireTV Cube and that is configured with the Studio's as a theatre (R/L channel pair). All that is working. Just not sure what the best placement for them should be. Since posting, I went ahead and snagged stands https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MCS2ZLO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I'm going to try them in a couple of different places. Though, it's surprising Amazon doesn't make stands for the Studio's. Honestly, there are a lot of things surprising about the Studio's. They're filled with tech and sound great but are hindered by their lack of compatibility outside of the FireTV ecosystem. And even then, they only support 2.1 sound which is bizarre because if they supported 5.1 you'd think they'd be wildly popular given their wireless connectivity and ease of installation.
I bought these to use with my M512:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HZHUCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They are great and come with little velcro ties to secure the speaker wires to the poles on the stand for a neat/tidy look.
These are the ones I have and they work great! Make's a big difference when your speakers are directed toward your ears instead of your chest.
I have these exact speakers & stands Sanus Adjustable Height Speaker Stand - Extends 28" to 38" - Holds Satellite & Small Bookshelf Speakers (i.e. Bose, Harmon Kardon, Polk, JBL, KEF, Klipsch, Sony and Others) - Set of 2 - Model: HTBS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HZHUCW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_5GMC74A4G86JCBHA3JXE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
What about something like this? You're free to move them about and cable management is inside the pole!
There's not really any special qualities needed for your stands. They don't even need to be purpose built for the task - tall stools or plant stands can function just fine in the role.
Quick search of Amazon found these: https://www.amazon.com/BF31-B1-Speaker-Stands-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B00006JQ5O/
If $60-$70 is too much for you, then it's largely a measure of creativity. Whatever works for you.
KEF makes stands, but at 500$ even I wouldn't buy them.
Here's some solid stands for 50$ on amazon:
If you dont need them that tall, you can save even more money.
