I use the venum challenger- these hold up very well and I really like the dual density rubber that they use. These also fit amazing when you follow the instructions.
Ive found neoprene knee sleeves do the trick for me without being overly cumbersome: they're all over amazon but here's a link:
I buy the SOL blankets because they're only reflective on one side (so they don't reflect heat back in, just away), and they don't crinkle or tear the way regular mylar does. They fold up nice and compact so you can keep reusing them, I've had the same ones for a couple years. I keep them on my tent with binder clips. Two of these cover the entire top of my 4-person dome tent. The amazon description doesn't mention shade, but the packaging does specifically mention that as one of it's uses.
Ideally to stay cool, you want something that allows airflow between the shade and the tent, like a canopy... but for someone like me that often travels to fests, that often isn't possible, so this is kind of the next best thing since it's nice and compact. If you can bring a canopy, that's definitely better but... not always possible.
Just the shade really helps, it's like you can feel the temperature drop when the sun goes away. I've found that between this and a tent fan, I can get some sleep through the day. It's not a miracle worker by any means, but it's a big improvement over a sunny tent. I can literally put my hand up to the wall inside my tent and feel the heat radiating in where it's uncovered, while it's cool from under the shade.
Can't solve the air temperature, though.
You would probably benefit from a cooling vest. They are popular with our kind of folks. The NMSS has a giveaway each year, but they always run out. I would check their site before buying one, however. They may still have them, I don't know. Otherwise, you can get one from Amazon.
This one is a great one. It's kind of pricey, but really good for sports and physical activity. I think it is well worth the money.

Been using a venum one from amazon past 2 years. No complaints.
OP, I've had several flare ups of runner's knee, and both times could still feel *something* when I started back running. But I'm always hyper aware of/anxious about my body coming off an injury, so every twinge seems magnified.
I think the most important question isn't can you still feel a twinge in your knee, but is running aggravating that twinge? If the general trend is that your knee is feeling better and stronger, and that trend isn't greatly affected by the addition of running (which should be exclusively easy for at least the first week or so!) then you're probably fine to run on it, imo.
It might also be worth using a compression sleeve as you get back into it. I've been v impressed with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019ZK0WS0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use Cramer firm grip spray it's great for hands and on clothes if you want to make knee-pits or thighs extra grippy.
You can try using one of these vests that have gel packs in them https://www.amazon.com/Glacier-Tek-Sports-Nontoxic-Cooling/dp/B07BFKX45L/ref=sr\_1\_8?dchild=1&keywords=cooling%2Bvest&qid=1623198860&sr=8-8&th=1
Totally worth the $2-5. The SOL emergency blanket is $4.95 on Amazon (linked, non-affiliate), and has grommets on it to help keep it in place (or rig it as an emergency tarp shelter / fire reflector)

There are meds for swearing yes, so definitely ask! People report cinnamon tablets help if you take them daily. People also say vitadone but I think it’s a bit overpriced. You could get the same vitamins by checking the ingredients and they contain cinnamon also which probably helps.
Split dosing might help, it never hurts to try and see!
That said, have you tried one of those cooling vests? They are like ice packs you wear under your clothes. Here is one example from amazon but they aren’t all quite that expensive. If you search “cooling vest” on amazon or google, a ton of options should come up. That’s what I’d go for if I had a strenuous job!
Also make sure you wear light clothing but check the fabrics. Blended fabrics and stuff like polyester is going to make you hotter, whereas clothes that are 100% cotton or linen will be the coolest options.
I did notice the sweating for me improved with time the longer I’ve been on methadone. However I definitely do get sweaty still a little, it’s just not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning.
www.amazon.com/Bodyglide-Original-Anti-Chafe-Balm-Packaging/dp/B005L8YVRO - Get some of this. Then you can wear whatever you want. I only chafe in one spot (inner arms, when I run, they rub against the seam of my tank top), and this stuff is the bomb! All kinds of athletes use it, so don't worry about a stigma or anything, it's perfect for any workout, but particularly distance events (triathletes SWEAR by it). It's really, really great stuff.
(Also, do not work out in cotton. If you don't already have it, invest in a bit of workout gear that's in a technical fabric, that'll wick away moisture - sweat - and keep you dry and cool)

After a lifetime of road cycling (now 61), and getting tired of people trying to kill me every day, I've moved to running. When my knees started hurting (they never hurt before) I took a chance and bought a couple of these...
I find them VERY helpful. When I run with them my knees are much less sore/painful. I have also been doing a lot of hip and knee exercises, which I'm sure are helping, and still... if I forget these sleeves I really feel it from a few miles in right through the next day. With them, I have very little pain during or after.
I think that if one can fit into your budget you have very little to lose.
When I first started doing fitness classes, my knees really started to hurt after a while. I couldn't run more than 10 minutes on the treadmill without them starting to feel all out of sorts. After reading reviews I ended up purchasing the uflex knee compression sleeve on Amazon, and it has changed everything. I've been wearing at least one (my right knee is the worst) to every workout class for going on 4 years and now I barely have any pain.
Depending on local forecast, for emergency cover I'd recommend a pea coat. Looks sleek and warm. Or if your looking to go cheap and light. Emergency Heating blanket. S.O.L. Have fun!
I have a meniscus tear on my left knee from a fall. Ortho didn't recommend surgery. I've been working to strength the muscles around the knee and like the run that you did, any serious work and I pay for it later. It actually feels like it's the cyst that formed this is giving me all the trouble.
Anyway, I picked up a compression brace on Amazon. First day, it felt miraculous. Weeks later, no longer miraculous but the fact that it's keeping the inflammation down has made a huge difference.
I know, it's not a permanent fix, but at this point, it's better than nothing.
Here's the link for the one I use
this is the one I use. It has directions to measure which size you need on the page.
I use a spray on grip called firm grip. I have used it on the back of the knee and inside of my elbows. Even on my legs when I do layback or climb. As of recently I can pole just fine without using it now but It helped in the beginning tho. I may need to use it again once winter comes. Here is the link.
Have you looked into a cooling vest? In my area it's in the mid/upper 90s almost every day with near 100% humidity. I haven't bought one yet, but I was looking at them on Amazon. I just can't get past the $200 price tag. If others who have used them chimed in and said they make a huge difference I'd order one immediately. I have noticed that I'm less heat tolerant as I'm getting older, and just a couple weeks ago I had a scare when I totally overdid it and couldn't recall what day it was and was generally confused. That was the end of any yard work that day, no doubt.

Seriously, buy this!
At my studio we have padded, tapped and painted hoops. That's the way I dress them. We purchase grain alcohol (everclear) and fill continuous mist spray bottles with said alcohol, a little bit of water (so it doesn't evaporate instantly) and a drop of soap (it breaks the lipid layer of the virus). Every student sprays their hands before and after mounting the apparatus.
I got an Adventure Medical Kits Ultralight Watertight .5 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009RIQBE) and basically split it up (since it has multiples of most supplies). I put the supplies I might need for a trail mishap in a bottle cage tool caddy (in the under downtube location on my hardtail) and it's always there if I (or someone else) need it.
I've been using the Venum Challenger Mouthguard for a long time now and it's worked well for me. Nothing fancy just does what it's supposed to do

Not brand specific, but I just went with a compression level I had in mind (20-30 mmHg) and great review in Amazon. This one is what I got, and have 3,500+ at 4.5/5 stars.
I had some similar issues when I started out and ended up buying some compression sleeves for my knees (and taking a couple of days off). So far they've helped a lot and my knees have gotten a lot stronger since then so I probably don't need them anymore.
That said, if it's not gone after a couple of days of rest, definitely check with a doctor.
Glad to help! Also, do you have a first aid kit? I can't count the times I've been glad to have one on hand in the woods, for myself or others. This is the one I carry. It says good for 1 person for 1-2 days, but I have no idea how they even got that measurement, this thing's lasted me for years. Their determining group must've been a bunch of perpetually dizzy toddlers or something, lol
