Just about anything should hit at those distances.
Just get a decent inexpensive optic. Like maybe 1-6X on sale or blem.
Feeding it costs more. Wolf gold is about as good as it gets for decent cheap 223 ammo.
Maybe invest in a $70 cheap spotting scope from Amazon to see if you're hitting anything.
You can invest in a spotting scope.

I got this one for zeroing past 50 yards. I have a feeling you’re going to enjoy the ability to attach your phone to take video/pictures.
Thanks man, and yeah that dude flyin around is something else. I'm still torn if I hate him or am just jealous. For the camera, yeah it's all shot on my pixel using a spotting scope with a phone attachment. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFTV8WM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_L8WYFbHKGHSVJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is what I have
I checked for a random zip code and expedited shipping was available for the above.
E.g. https://www.amazon.com/Celestron-52268-Spotting-scope-Black/dp/B0038QYRDO/ but it's without mount and planetary eyepiece.
A 90mm Maksutov won't perform well on magnifications over 160x though, and can't show the detail you can get with some other telescopes in the $200-$300 range like a 5" or 6" dobsonian.
Else there is a lot of garbage on Amazon.
You could check for a local store- E.g. a camera shop, binocular store, as they sometimes have Maksutovs.
Even some department stores, such as Wallmart, but they aren't great to show for telescope. On-line, they have the Starblast 4.5 and even the "Orion StarBlast 6 Astro Reflector Telescope" listed -> Would be a great choice if it's available. BUT their on-line listings aren't what they have locally.
Most stores have the usual 127eq and other garbage telescopes.
So did you hold up your phone to a spotting scope like this?
Do you have any spare riflescopes that you are not using? Fixed 10x would be perfect or even a lower cost spotting scope like This.
Get a cheap Mobile Phone digiscope adapter. Most Phone cameras are pretty damn good and their smaller lens format and larger screens mean you’ll be able ti see your target better.
The main advantage of using a fixed 10x rifle scope is that it will be smaller, lighter and have a clearer image than the variable power spotter I linked. You could get a small tripod or some pipe clamp and just attach it to a fixed part of your shooting bay at eye level so you can see your shots easily. Spotting scope works to but you’ll need a small tripod and the more crap you have in your lane can be a distraction sometimes, when shooting.
This. It also comes with a phone mount so the image is large, clear and you can take a pic to see progression. Gosky Updated 20-60x80 Spotting... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07KFTV8WM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

That’s what I just bought. I shoot at 100 years and can see my .22lr pretty clearly. I don’t have experience with any other scopes so I can’t rank it but I can say for me, it does what I need it to do.
I got a roxant spotting scope off Amazon, it actually hasn't been bad. I was super surprised. Roxant Blackbird Spotting Scope
U/bmadd14 look at my profile. Posted one of my videos. Captured with this
What this guys said. I’ve got this one. Works good out to a hundred yards. Haven’t stretched it to 200 yet but I bet it would do the trick.
I purchased this one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010FAUJ46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_FC1TKDZ2TY354REJ5XK3
It's inexpensive and the sight picture out to 100yrds is good enough to see shots land on paper. It's one of the best bangs for the buck. With shoot-and-see targets I can see shots land at 200yrds at maximum power.
I had Monoculars and stuff...never really worked for me.
I use this for my LPVo shooting at 200m+
This was $50 as an Amazon Lighting Deal during black friday. I suspect it will be again for a Christmas sale. For a budget, chinese made spotting scope I've gotton my money's worth.

This scope has a smartphone adapter, it's pretty slick.

You can get a sufficient telephoto lens for around $1000 or less. Or a 1250mm telescope for $200 (usually less).
The tripod is garbo, but the optic ain't bad. I've got a similar (different branding) off Amazon and it works well for zeroing and vapor tracing out to about ~500m. Past that the optical clarity degrades a bit - only really useful for spotting impacts.

edit: this is the one I got off Amazon - Roxant 12-36x50
He could try to market his mount, but he'd be competing with cheap products already found on Amazon. He may not even be able to get a patent since the idea has been around for a long time.
Meh, I got this guy for around $90 (it's even cheaper now), and it works just fine for me. We aren't all Hathcocks (at least I am decidedly not a Hathcock).
Hey, I modified one of these a few years back: https://www.amazon.com/Stedi-Stock-Shoulder-Stabilizer-Spotting/dp/B004816LZA and it still serves it's purpose well! I've gotten plenty of compliments and questions about it over the years. I bought a simple 15mm mount, plate and rod setup to go on top of this. I had to glue some rubber to the top of the stock for better grip on the mount, but that was a breeze (it's still attached for the record). It's almost literally run and gun.
Here's the one I have - 20-60x80 for for $180. Has decent reviews other places
I've used this a few times and intend to buy one once I have a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket. Economical, does the job. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DX7Q8W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=134Y3HDZ1OFXX&coliid=IZTA2YXI2M30X
This Konus is a fantastic deal.

It's usually the go-to recommendation for people that don't want to spend a lot on one. I've had one for years and am very pleased with it.
What are your uses?
I can spot .308 holes at 200m and .223 holes at 100m both on plain white paper with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DX7Q8W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
Does anyone have experience with the Barskas? They seem to have solid reviews on Amazon, but I think I will be pushing them a bit too far.
Nice, relevant username.
But seriously, if the farthest you're going to shoot/observe rounds is 200 yds, you can get away with spending way less than $500 right here.
I know, the glass ain't great; hell, it ain't even good, but you'll be able to see your rounds at two hundred. Happy shooting!
Was a gift for christmas, Came with a nice hard case and cheap little tripod. I love it so far, seems well built for a budget scope. http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-Spotting-Scope-20-60x60mm-Black/dp/B000KOWDZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360197287&sr=8-1&keywords=simmons+spotting+scope
Price seems on par, don't listen to the save $152 bullshit.
Here it is on Prime.
Admittedly I know nothing of what spotting scopes are good and what ones are crap. That being said my in-laws picked one up for me (for no particular reason other than I like guns). Its a Simmons 20 - 60. Link here. I like it... although I really have nothing to compare it to.
