If the $20 one has a vent button like the No-Spill brand containers then yeah it would totally be worth it.
The nozzle design was a change forced upon us by people pouring gas from the can straight onto open fires. Obviously not a great idea, but people do it. The newer design is so that when someone does this, and the flame crawls up the stream towards the can and the user freaks out and either drops/throws/or runs around with it as soon as they quit applying force to keep the nozzle open it will spring shut and keep the flame from going into the can.
That being said, I totally agree the cans sold at big box stores are HORRIBLE. Home depot, walmart, lowes etc... After trying a bunch of different styles I finally found one that is AWESOME that wasn't a $50 steel gas can. Only issue was I had to buy them on amazon as nobody local sells them. Check out the link below and give it a whirl, I promise it's worth buying.
No-Spill 1405 2-1/2-Gallon Poly Gas Can (CARB Compliant) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W72GBC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_npxExbBPD05DZ
They sell multiple sizes, I have the 1.25gal for my two stroke mix, and a 5 gal for my regular gas (mower, generator, etc).
Only ones we used to sell at my shop, because we stood by them. never had an issue with mine, and I love how there's and actual button instead of the usual push down nozzle bullshit.
Edit: after reading those reviews, it looks like a lot are missing the O-ring for the nozzle. Might not be preinstalled if you order it directly. I had to put them together before we sold them in our store.
Alternatively, a Sun Joe SPX3000 Pressure Washer is currently $150 at Amazon. This is a 120V electric pressure washer, they are generally significantly less powerful than gas models, but this is a top-end electric model so surprisingly capable and totally suitable for home use.
I have a Sun Joe one from Amazon. Works well enough.

I did an analysis a while back based on psi, gpm, $ and wand connections. Ended up whittling it down to a Sun Joe. Turns out it's the number one seller on Amazon so I guess I wasn't too far off in my conclusion. I haven't pulled the trigger yet (pun intended) but it'll be my first choice for replacing my current machine this spring.

$150 for the most popular pressure washer on amazon 4k reviews! a lot of people pressure wash it seems haha.
I got this one from Amazon for power washing patio, driveway, and house. Have loved it so far. Good for quick around the house stuff without having to worry about the gas engine complications that could come along later.

Green Works is an ok brand. I wouldn't get one if you have a lot of stuff to power wash, but if you have a really small property or space they will work fine.
I got this one as a gift and it works really, really well.
I bought this 6 years ago when I got my house and it does the job. Still works great and will be using it today actually.

I just bought a SunJoe from Amazon for about 160$ and it works great, I washed my car with it today. 2000 psi and 1.76 gpm. My father has the same one and he loves it, it comes w a 2 year warranty as well.

I use a Sun Joe. It’s not great but definitely good enough. I did have to order an extension hose to get around each car in one continuous circle. I also upgraded a few fittings based on comments on other detailing sites.

Can someone help me find a swivel to fit on my pressure washer handle?
I have this pressure washer:

Sun joe told me they do not make a swivel to fit on the gun, and I can’t find a solution. I’d like to not have a series of adapters if possible. Thanks!
I got this one. Won’t really use the detergent tank since I also bought the foam cannon (linked).

I have one of these, I really like it.
My metal Eagle can is also really good. But that No-Spill can is really easy to use, and is more enclosed (there's no funnel whose interior can get dirty, possibly contaminating the gas you're about to pour).

I didn't want to handle maintaining a heavy gas engine for something I was only going to use 1-2 times a year.
I would recommend getting a cleaner, as removing some really stuck on stains with just water can end up causing damage to whatever its stuck to (I accidentally removed some mortar when I had mildew on it, its not a big deal to me since its veneer and our house is ugly anyway).
I personally didn't find gloves were too big a deal with this one, but you will definitely need to wear either sandals or rubber boots, and some goggles.
I have this electric one for about 5 years. I use it for my cars and driveway. It has decent pressure to get most jobs fine in a timely manner. I use it every other week to wash my truck and have never had issues with it. As others have said if you needed something with high pressure gas it's the way to go. I like electric because it's quite and never runs out of gas.
I won't claim to be any kind of expert, but after dropping a large Mocha on my driveway and making what looked like a chocolate penis outline, I ordered a cheap Sun Joe Pressure Washer off of Amazon and was able to get the whole drive very nice looking without undue effort.
I'm sure a professional machine with an experienced user could do better, and in much less than the ~2 hours it took me, but if you're just starting a side gig it seems like OP's suggestions aren't unreasonable.
The instruction booklet that came with the little machine I got covered when/where/how to use the various nozzles. Combine that with a quick Google search along the lines of "how to pressure wash a driveway", and a little common sense, and you should be good.
(For the record, always always always CYOA. If you want to start a business such as this, or any really, spend a few minutes checking the laws and local ordinances for where you live. Insurance, Licensing, Determining Property Limits, any number of things may or may not be an issue. That said, I agree with OP for the most part. If you're trying to get something started for cheap, and time is more available to you than money, start with the bare minimum and don't stress the rest until it's relevant to your situation.)
Yeah sure. I’ll dig up the link for the foam thing I got on amazon. You’ll need a pressure washer... also amazon.
I use bulk and cheap turtle wax soap from local auto store. Got a gallon.

So many of the /r/AutoDetailing people will forever tell you no matter how you’re doing it, you’re doing it wrong. Past a certain level I just don’t care.
Blast it off with water only to knock off dust and loose dirt. Coat with foam and let it soak a little bit. Use wash mitt or I use big soft brush to agitate foam and remove dirt. Rinse. Dry with good clean towels.
Wheels and tires is up to you.
>Congratulations to you! I got a white one in the spring, really like it. It got faster as it broke in. I'm sure you'll love it. Yes to the gas can, I got this one, which seems ok: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W72GBC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This exactly. You don’t even need to spend that much to get a decent one. We bought one 2 years ago for $150 from Amazon and it hasn’t failed us yet.

Edit: I use the gray spray tip which I believe is intended for cleaning vehicles.
I bought a Worthington tank off Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SKX63U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Unfortunately, it is not pre-purged.
