I would recommend the cap OB-86
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001K4OPY2/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_wxinAb8DEYXR6
It’s 120$ right now on amazon. In a year or whatever you can upgrade to a Ohio power bar abd use this as a guest/landline bar. I don’t live in a corrosive environment but it has been a great bar. For the price it’s excellent. IMHO the rouge Ohio is a better bar. But it is quite a bit more $$. When I have acquired all the other equipment I want I upgrade the bar.
The knurling isn’t cheese grader but I’m happy with it.
Cap barbell OB-86B $140 on amazon. I think you can get it slighter cheaper on ebay with the 15% off coupon they're running today PERFECTDAY.
The women's bars are often 15kg instead of 20kg (so about 35#), and have a thinner bar diameter. Whether there's any reason for you to want one I can't say, I don't have one and probably wouldn't get one but that's just me. There was a big thread about women's bars about a week ago so you might check that out. Link
I personally chose this CAP barbell for my home gym. I would have liked to get a nice Rogue bar but it was out of my price range and also my gym is on a back porch so theoretically it would be easy (although time-consuming) for someone to steal all of it. The one I linked is the center knurl version, they also have them without that so if you go with the CAP ones from Amazon be careful which one you get! The link should have a chart of all the CAP barbells so you can compare them.
It's not the nicest bar I've ever used, nor the worst, but for the price I have no complaints. I managed to find a second (crappier) bar on Craigslist, and we use that one for deadlifts.
We only got a single pair of 45lb bumpers and some 10s, because we have a set of regular iron Olympic plates so we can get up to the 200s just with all that, and so that is plenty for our purposes. I can't remember where we got the 45s from in the end. :(
ETA: Now I remember, we got the "one fit wonder" 45 bumper pair from fringesport. I don't remember why I got those particular ones (probably felt they were the most decent value for the $$ at the time), but I have no complaints about them and they are rather attractive.
Buy a barbell pad on Amazon.
What he meant to say was the CAP OB-86PBCK when it is on sale (often around $120) from either Amazon or Walmart.
That DOES have center knurling and is a VERY solid value (1500lb capacity, alright knurling and finish). SOURCE: Search this sub and I own it.
Titan Atlas bar is close but no center knurl: $225 plus tax.
Cap Barbell “The Boss” is closer and cheaper but 28.5
Get the one with center knurl if you're powerlifting. It's a little more but the CK is worth it especially for back squats.
It's silly to spend extra for a beater bar with the Rogue name. Just get a regular beater bar.
The Cap OB-86B on Amazon is pretty reputable at $140.
If you're in the US you can get a decent beginner squat rack from Amazon or Walmart for $250-350. Building your own only to replace it will cost a lot more in the end and take an awful lot of time.
As for the bar, if you buy a decent one now you can keep it forever, or until you become a hulk. From what I can tell, the CAP OB-86B seems to generally be considered the best bang for your buck. It's currently available for $138 shipped at Amazon.
My first piece of advise would be to shop around before you buy all Rogue. You’ll be able to find some of the things you’re looking for at a much cheaper price with comparable quality. For example, I purchased a solid curl bar on Amazon that works for me just fine; it just needs consistent upkeep to prevent from rusting. You might also be able to save money on the bench. Rogue pricing is outrageous and lots of folks on this sub recommend the rep fitness bench.
My second piece of advise would be on the rack. I have the RML-390C in 30” depth. For squatting inside the rack, I find that it’s just enough space to work and often find myself wishing I would’ve spent the extra $130 for the RML-490. If you can afford the space, that is.
My third thing, and this is just personal experience, is the plates. I purchased the 210lbs colored training bumper plates and, while they’re great, the solid black bumpers would have been just as fine and cheaper.

Try this bar if you're not already
I came here to link to the one I use (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V6Z3171) but the Inspire bar linked below seems way better and it's $30 cheaper.
Note that I have the older model of the Vitruvian with the carabiner attachments.
Is the CAP OB-86B still recommended as a starter bar? Most my search results from here were from 4-5 years ago. This new version seems to have lower PSI and is more expensive.

Was gonna go with the Rep Sabre but not available right now. Open to other suggestions as well.
You see that green sticker at the end of this bar
It actually includes the weight.
I noticed a decent markdown on CAP products. I have never used these and they are pretty obviously cheap and there are a few reviews of the items coming broken, but with Amazon's return policy i am not to worried about a risk of needing to return them. For the price, do these seem cheap enough to be worth getting them as entry level versions of these products?
I am an out of shape 34 year old dad who's trying get back into shape. I am currently 6 foot tall and 265 pounds but I am pretty wide framed. I just bought the fitness reality squat rack so I need a good quality bench.
I am currently looking at this one. https://repfitness.com/collections/benches/products/ab-3100-adjustable-weight-bench-v3
My questions is this seems more than strong enough but the pad tappers up top. I mainly will use this bench for flat bench press. Will this taper effect me or is this bench more than sufficient. I am on a budget but not trying to sacrifice stability or safety. Rep seems from what I read to be the best bang for your buck.
Thanks in advance.
Also I am going to buy the dsports 300 lbweight set for $400. From what I read the bar is pretty bad. Would this bar be a decent upgrade? I rather get something that won't rust in my unheated garage.

I've got the Xmark crow bar and it does the job. They make pretty nice curl bars that are very inexpensive. This one is a popular curl bar of theirs that I haven't used. Its specs are similar to the crow bar, but I think you'd one might be even better. I've had mine for two years and it's pretty perfect for my needs, so I really do recommend it.
If you're looking for a rackable suggestion, I don't have one, but someone else will surely pop up.
I use a curl bar for lat pull downs, bicep curls and skull crushers.
These attachments looks great but a couple people here have mentioned a foot switch to turn off and on the weights?? sounds great
Get a pad like this for hip thrusts. No more pain!
Ah ok. If it doesn't come with a barbell, then what you likely want is a 5ft barbell that weighs 25 lbs, with two inch sleeves on bushings (i.e., not a one piece barbell). Something like this may work:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RNW3QO/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
I was going to order this, but then picked up a used Tempo barbell off of fb marketplace.
A regular olympic barbell is 7ft and 45 lbs, so I'm not sure that would work with the algorithm's expectations.
So I got this one and I have no idea on the quality of these things but supposedly it’s weight limit is 300 lbs which is pleeenty for my own personal goals. I haven’t weighed it to double check but it feels the same as the ez bar I already have which I have weighed and is 15 lbs. it fits on the rack of the bench press we have, which is exciting. I can’t manage the 7’ bar we have and the ez bar is much too narrow to fit. Looking forward to loading plates, getting into position, and lifting the bar safely instead of kinda lying down with the ez bar 😬
The cheap Cap Barbell would be fine.
I do bodyweight squats at home and was looking to add some weight to my squats. I'm fairly skinny so wasn't gonna add a lot of weight to it just some so I'm not doing only bodyweight. Would this barbell off amazon suffice? https://www.amazon.com/Sunny-Threaded-Chrome-Barbell-60-Inch/dp/B004EFYPBC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1LIGA2I2UQYTP&keywords=barbell&qid=1640396211&sprefix=barbel%2Caps%2C154&sr=8-1
I was hoping not to spend too much on it but notice people said not to cheap out on it but for my use would it be enough? Thanks!
Paying $50/mo
The straight bar can be hard on the wrists so I got this
And some of my clothes stopped fitting after I put on 15lbs of muscle
But other than that, it's been great
Titan has improved over time. However many old time buyers are leery and will wait for reviews or will want to see it upfront themselves ( i.e. at a gym or at a friends home gym, etc)
https://www.titan.fitness/strength/barbells/specialty/axle-barbells/AXLEBAR.html
If it was me, I'd buy an Axle bar and then use that to bridge myself over for a while where I could spend some time surfing the various marketplaces ( i.e. Craigslist, FB, Offer Up, etc etc) to see if I could find a good deal.
Then when you finally find a good solid Olympic barbell, your Axle still has use as a specialty type bar.
An Axle bar does have some limitations and your hand size might be a factor. But it's hard to beat the price.
I wouldn't buy a 5 foot bar, but that's just me. If you absolutely must have a 5 foot bar, at that point, you might be better off with a one inch bar.

bodylastics Patent Pending Collapsible Resistance Bands Curl Bar with Steel Pipe Construction, 3 Points of Connection, Sharp 45 Degree Angle Bends, Amazing Rubber Grip and Carry Bag. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V6Z3171/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1TER2YBBGNGF5TKWEX83
It works good for curls and skull crushers. You need to buy tonal t-locks and carbiners. The ez curl bar is the only extra accessory I use.
The following EZ curl bar is the only attachment that I use. I have other attachments as I had a home gym before Tonal. But the EZ curl bar is the only additional attachment that I use.

For comfort, I found this bar helps relieve wrist pressure (using with the T-clips from Tonal)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V6Z3171
There are also pads to make front squats more comfortable.
But Tonal is definitely hard. The algorithm keeps you honest and there is no coasting with these workouts. With free weights, I'd get stuck in a rut doing the same weights, but Tonal is always pushing me to my limit which is both good (results) and bad (challenging workouts).
Currently my home gym setup is based pretty much entirely off of this thin threaded barbell, kinda like this https://www.amazon.com/Sunny-Threaded-Chrome-Barbell-60-Inch/dp/B004EFYPBC. My bench/squat rack and the weights all rely on the size of this kinda shitty 10 lb or so bar that starts bending around 220 or so. It was ok when I was doing 220 for deadlift and squats but now I'm getting close to 300 for deadlift and I'm pretty sure the amount it's bending isn't very safe. I really don't want to have to get a legit barbell considering that it'd mean I'd have to replace pretty much everything I have right now, but if there really aren't any other options I'll suck it up and start going to my local gym or something cause I'm still in high school and there's no way I'm shelling out that much money.
I use this for curls.
