I've had several wrist surgeries and also hate push-ups. I use these pushup handles which make it a lot more bearable, and like someone else mentioned switch to my knees if I need to.

Would these be ok for practicing and messing around with at home? I haven't seen any paralletes that are this cheap. I have another set that are only maybe an inch off the floor but have been wanting taller ones.
follow up for what I'm doing today. I haven't been to a gym for years now. So I'd done it for a few years going a few times a week successfully. But having since moved and tried another gym I didn't like (so not motivated to keep going back; the other one I felt more at peace of not being scrutinized passively as much). I just do some workouts of my own at home. Since I'd done many of the machines in the prior gym in my life, I kind of "simulated" some similar exercises at home.

I am a 23 year old male. 6”3 and 178lbs. I’ve never really worked out in my life. I played baseball and soccer so all I did was running. Now that I am getting older and less and less active, I need to get into something to stay healthy, and avoid gaining weight. I’d like to get to the point where my belly is flat and have abs, and not be so skin and bone everywhere else.

For the most part, no. You need to lift heavy weights to build muscle. Bodyweight exercises are fine if you have no other options or if you can't afford a gym membership, but you'll never get comparable results. Having said that, if you're consistent about doing it and it's working for you then keep going. Another thing too is that at 46 years old you're probably not going to see major muscle growth any way and are a lot more susceptible to injury if you're trying to squat 300 lbs.
If you're doing something that works for you and you're seeing results, then I'd keep doing it. But if you start to plateau then you should probably consider a gym membership to keep making progress.

So if your wrist is tweaky then I highly suggest getting some pushup bars so you can still build up strength without putting stress on the tendons. Additionally, work all kinds of pushes from wide, standard, military, plange, diamond, spiderman, etc so that you well round out all the muscle groups. i saw a product that combined pushup bars with a cutout so you get proper form. it looks cheaply made but the reviews indicate it is okay. if your goal is to pass a PT test then spending $40 on some shoddy thing that works well enough to pass might be worth it. That is just an example. if you search for "push up board system" there's a bunch of them. Each color group builds up a different muscle set and youll be maxing pushups easy if you put in max rep sets of each group 3+ times a week.
Where to get cheapest parallettes that can help with handstand training? Also, what's the ideal size recommended?

One of my goals this year is to average 100 pushups a day for the year. In late january or early feburary I sprained the hell out both wrists (there goes my sex life...), and can't put my hands flat--like you mention.

I've been doing knuckle pushups since then. I don't have problems with the skin scraping on my knuckles unless I do them on concrete. Pro-tip--wear gloves if you're going to do knuckle pushups on concrete. I have a yoga mat I use most of the time.

I like being a contradiction. Plus, 30 minute workouts five times a week is not working out a lot. Doctors usually tell you to walk 30 minutes daily. It is no different than what I do.
To give example:
I live in Arizona, a very hot state for a few months. I risk heat stroke using my garage gym during the summer. So, I exercise in doors. I have this complete push up system board and a situp bar on a door. I do the push ups, pylo/cardio (btw kickouts make your ass hurt), and ab workouts it suggests. On its rest days, I do 100 situps using my situp bar on a door. Additionally, I also do 30 situps every morning Tu-F. On Saturdays, I use my garage gym to do weights and a stair climber. My workouts only last 30-45 minutes. When the summer time is over, I'll do all of this in my garage gym. Finally, I also bicycle during the non-summer months to work (average 8-10 miles a day) three times a week. During summers, I use an electric scooter on those days.

I've been working out like this for 15+ years. I truly have no desire to weigh less. Honestly speaking, Someone my height and weighing less than me would probably run out of stamina with my workouts. Just because I weigh more and have fat does not mean I am weak.

I did that for over a year and still try to do it every day but I've gotten a little lazy and do it more like every other day.

or do them on your fists. Had the same problem. I did it on fists for awhile but that kinda hurts and probably will fuck up your knuckles over time. The bars are better and allow you to get deeper and I think forces better form. Easier on your wrists too. You can use them for other exercises too.

I broke my hand (boxer break) and have a scaphoid fracture that never healed so have similar issues. I bought the perfect pushup which works decently. It doesn't take that many knuckle pushups before your hands hurt quite a bit.
Hey I have the same problem. My right wrist hurts like hell when I put too much weight on it, lift too much, and do pushups. I fucked up my wrist by lifting too much weight when doing bicep curls, and aggravated it by boxing and not letting it heal. SOOO the solution to this is to lay two dumbells on the floor, that are hexagon not round, and grip onto them when doing pushups so your wrist is upright rather than flat against the ground. This will help prevent you from putting your weight on your wrists and they won't hurt anymore. You can also get yourself some of these
Use push-up stands or dumbbells, they will allow you to straighten your wrists compared to a hard bend in the wrist when just doing them on the ground. There are a lot of ways to build hand and finger strength and dexterity, But maybe try something like finger tutting for something different that you could have done fun with.
You look great! I guess gym is great. However you could also have something like Perfect Pushup Elite and dumbbell set and a bar. I had it some couple of yrs back. And it was great. I could work out anytime I wanted.
Start slow. Don't try to do it all in one go. Something like 20 after morning shower. 20 before break fast. 10 Before going to work. 50 after you are back home. At office another 50. Pushup Elite is one of the best, very best thing to have. Though it might take some time to get adjusted to it.
There are some variations of push-ups that you can try. However the Pushup Elite is really good. First time you try it, you will know the difference. Its much more intensive.

My rationale? You can also use them as parallettes, yet get the functionality of push-up handles.
It might not be an issue of strength. It could be anything from subpar "wrist form" on pushups to it simply not being a position your body is well-suited for. I'm fairly decent at pushups, and usually my wrists are fine, but other times I notice pain and it's not entirely clear to me why.
Anyway, something like push up bars may help. I've never noticed any pain with them, even with significant weight, and you get the added bonus of being able to go deeper. Or you can improvise with dumbbells etc. if you don't want to buy any.
