I enjoyed Wearing the Cape, which feels like it does a realistic job of integrating heroes into modern society. Prior to reading Worm I'd have put this forward as the most realistic superpowered media I'd read/watched.
Some minor examples:
All the costumes (other than PR-appearance only costumes) include body armor, and even though she's a classic "flying brick" the protagonist has a costume with heavy defensive plates.
Planes have clearly marked points to indicate where someone with superflight should lift them, should the need arise.
heroes have no special legal powers, but will regularly assist police. No-knock warrants against supervillains are raising legal concerns, and the "I was mind controlled by the real villian" defense is causing chaos in the legal system.
One of the more important things a superhero team does is remain visible and build positive press to prevent public opinion turning on supers when villains cause problems. Rescuing cats stuck in trees is actually a pretty important duty, and having someone with excellent PR skills (either superpowered or otherwise) is essential to every team.
Superstrong is good. Superstrong with an oversized tungsten maul is better.
That's great! All my books happen to be free too! You can find them on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Ascend-Online-Luke-Chmilenko-ebook/dp/B01M01ET8E
It'll say that the book costs $6 there, but that's because I'm running a sale for the next forever. During this sale each book comes with a sense of pride and accomplishment for being able to help an author eat and warm his house this winter.
I hope you take advantage of it! This sale will only last until the end of time!
Oh uh... World Tree by uh EA Hooper has this!
https://www.amazon.com/World-Tree-Online-Trilogy-Book-ebook/dp/B07FK632GK
It's a pretty solid series so far, IMO.
And Emerellia, too, IIRC!

Ascend online gets a big recommendation from me. It is well written, has a good plot, great execution of RPG elements, and cool village building theme which I like.
And more importantly, Ascend Online is free on promotion on Amazon Kindle for a few days right now so even if you aren't going to read it yet, I would go and snag it before it goes back to normal price. The Audiobook becomes discounted heavily after owning the kindle version! https://www.amazon.com/Ascend-Online-Luke-Chmilenko-ebook/dp/B01M01ET8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504215682&sr=8-1&keywords=ascend+online
Luke Daniels narrates the audiobook for Ascend Online and he is a big name A-List narrator. He is also the narrator who did all the hilarious voices in the extremely popular comedy book "Off to be the Wizard" by Scott Meyer.
I think this series is very underrated. It has an element of Lit Rpg but it's a small part of the story. It actually gets left out for a couple books because of reasons. It's something the character has but doesn't rely on.
So how else to describe Super Sales on Super Heroes? Should I just say I like it? I feel like that doesn't convey my relationship to that book...
Mother of Learning by Domagoj Kurmaić.
I'm not done with it yet, but the main characters starts below average and progresses through a very detailed and intricate magic system.
It's like Harry Potter (the school bits) + Groundhog Day + detailed and deep magic system and worldbuilding
The best time loop story I read is a completed original called Mother of Learning https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/21220/mother-of-learning
If you want to support the author it’s available on Amazon as an audiobook as well https://www.amazon.com/Mother-Learning-ARC-1-nobody103-ebook/dp/B09M2R6QLF
So Mother of Learning had a Kickstarter run by Wraithmarked, is it still a web serial/self-pub or is it now published by an indie publisher? Amazon's page says published by Wraithmarked, but only 1 part (out of an eventual 4, the last part will be split into 2) is published by them so far, the rest is only available as a web serial still.
FWIW if it were up to me I'd say it's no longer self-pub but I'd be sad about it cos I really want to include it on my list haha.
Mother of Learning defines it as a difference of magical tradition.
Witches are more like midwives who can do their job anywhere and have a good knowledge of home remedies vs Mages who are more like OBGYNs: years of school, licensure, and relies on tools that require tons of infrastructure to produce.
Also the Witches in that series are matrilineal and believe magic only passes through the womb. Boys can’t pass on the bloodline.
time loop stories are rather similar, altho i dont know many, especially translated ones.
a western one that i loved & thats popular is called 'mother of learning' by nobody103 & you can find it on royal road and kindle unlimited. the MC repeats the same few weeks for probably hundreds of times, and while he doesnt have nearly as much regression depression as YJH, he has plenty lol
Not sure, this probably isn't what your looking for but it is a very good and long series, on how humans whoop ass in space. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005VGB16A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_4QXDM6PDKTJ2E1457HK3
If you have a fighting game bouncing around in your head I'd suggest reading Iron Prince it does a wonderful job of balancing fighting/story in a very addictive and engaging way.
So, socialism was created in the 19th century to serve as a justification for russian imperialism ?
By allowing ... *check notes* ... a revolution that ended the Russian Empire ?
All of that so that later after the fall of the Soviet Union a capitalist named Putin could use not socialism but anti nazism as an excuse to invade Ukraine ?
That's why I don't like most time travel stories, almost every time the plot lines ends up becoming totally incoherent by the end. /s
(joke aside, if someone wants to read a complete Fantasy story focused on a time loop, I recommand "Mother of Learning", available for free at https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/21220/mother-of-learning, but arc 1 is also available on amazon if you want to support the author: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M2R6QLF)
Mother of learning was recently offered on the kindle unlimited, and its one of the best series I've ever read, far better than even the top end of published fare.
Came here to say that. Here's a link.
One of the authors is quite active on Reddit. They also have a Patreon, and are releasing chapters from Book 2 now.
I'll always recommend Mother of Learning
It's also available on Royal Road, and it's complete. The link above is for the edited version for publication instead of it being a web serial. There's also an audio book releasing in about 2 weeks for the first book which is around 26 chapters.
Wiliam D Arand has various cross-universe works.
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Super-Sales-Heroes-William-Arand-ebook/dp/B072HQF1B6 is one of the 'offshoot' works.
I did not in general feel this added to the individual books.
going to neither confirm nor deny if there's more easter eggs 😁
BUT I am going to shamelessly plug the book here, available on Kindle as of yesterday!
thanks for the enthusiasm!!
$4.99 on U.S. Amazon.
The audio book, narrated by Jack Voraces, will be out soon (not available for pre-order on Audible yet, so I don't know when exactly but I seem to remember someone saying it would be on or around December 6th. Take that with a grain of salt though).
Have him give Iron Prince a try. It's a very chunky book but if he likes games, it's a fantasy novel with stats, so it's like a real life scifi rpg. It's very binge-worthy. The characters attend a special academy where they learn how to develop their personalized scifi weapon for the purposes of eventually fighting hostile aliens on the frontier. Big emphasis on the sports aspect as well, as people compete with their scifi weapons in arenas for the masses, and the kids at the academy all battle one another in duels and tournaments.
The main draw is that the MC is a total underdog born with a crippling medical condition. With modern tech it's able to be treated but not cured. The MC's only hope is to prove he's worthy of being one of the few chosen to attend a special academy and get a scifi weapon (the weapons integrate with the whole body and have the potential to permanently keep his condition at bay). He works insanely hard for every small gain in the beginning and is very likeable and persistent. You just have to root for him. And when he receives his scifi device he really starts to take off, his limitless potential combined with his almost inhuman determination rocketing him to the front of his class. He makes awesome friends in the academy and the supporting cast are all great.

Highly recommend it. One of my favorite reads of 2021.
Here's the Amazon link for the first one:
HPMOR has been on my hitlist for a while now, but let's face it I'm much more likely to consume it as an audiobook than a webnovel.
Jack sometimes does narrations gratis as a form of tribute to stuff he loves. I was really impressed with his performance in Vainqueur the Dragon.
He also had Mother of Learning up in podcast form as kind of the same format, but I'm pretty sure that's gone now as they prep to release the novel on Amazon and Audible.
here you go https://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Heart-Stone-Will-LitRPG-ebook/dp/B07NKGQ7RJ
dragon heart on amazon kindle unlimited
Sorry about that it is Dragon Heart series, first book is Stone Will
You can find it on Amazon (Kindle): https://www.amazon.ca/Dragon-Heart-Stone-Will-LitRPG-ebook/dp/B07NKGQ7RJ/ref=sr\_1\_4?dchild=1&keywords=Dragon+Heart+book+1&qid=1631117932&sr=8-4
I'm an audio book only reader but I have been enjoying dragon heart by kirill klevanski. It is Russian originally but been translated to English been enjoying that. Another one I liked was divine dungeon. It is about dungeon building so slightly different from normal progression fantasy
Happy to! Dire starts with Dire: Born here. Its by Andrew Seiple. (Who writes other fun [but very different] stories like Threadbare)
Similar to Doctor Fid she's a "Villain" but not a "villain". Unlike Doctor Fid, the dire series builds her up from nothing. So it does have a bit more of a warm up, but it absolutely gets there!
My first encounter was after I read the Dire Saga by Andrew Seiple, I looked up more info about the books. When doing so, I discovered that he first wrote the main character from the books as an insert into a worm fanfic before he published his novels, so I looked up the fanfic and read it. I then went and read worm (Alright, I started skimming moderately heavily once the S9 showed up). After that, I started reading other worm fics.
