So I’m gonna ruin this thought but oh well. From what I can’t tell, this is just a very small midi controller, which is controlling some sort of external synth, where the sound is coming from.
Though there is the stylophone synth which is very similar and makes its own sound. It appears to be out of stock on Amazon though.

I have a backorder from MOMA store that I made in February (because I’m a member so get 20% discount AND I had a $100 gift card to use), MOMA was estimating them to be in stock today but I have a sinking feeling that I’ll still be waiting a long time and wish I could just hit that buy now button on Amazon! 😞
"That looks like it would be fun to play with"
googles
"Maybe I'll just get a ukulele"
I'm not even kidding when I say; get a Gakken SX-150 Mark II. $38 bucks on Amazon, probably cheaper elsewhere:
It's sold as a toy in Japan, but it's a great way to learn the basics of subjective synthesis. By itself it sounds rather crappy, but put it through a couple of cheap guitar pedals or record to DAW and add plugins, and it's heaven. I'm not saying get it instead of the other excellent suggestions you're getting, but get it! I'm currently hooking it up to the audio-in of my Roland SP-404SX, utilizing the 404's effects, and it's blowing my little old mind!
dang, looks pretty nice! if you'd like to improve/nitpick, heres few pointers:

putting your pc on the desk. i saw your other comment on how you're worried about it collapsing. im not sure how stable the desk is, but it seems fine. you could get a few cheap l-brackets for support if it really worries you, though. i also built a pc for a friend and he killed it a month later due to knocking a glass of water on it, and since his pc was on the floor, damage was maximized.
-get a bigger mouse pad! heres one off amazon that had alot of size options. bot having your keyboard wobble about as you're gaming, and not having yoor stuff so close to you os a really nice feeling.
heres one a friend recommended to me: https://www.amazon.com/Extended-Custom-Professional-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B086D9X8TP/ref=mp_s_a_1_23
good luck to your future gaming endeavors!
YMMV, but I just ordered one from the German Amazon site:
I chose the Amazon Prime listing and since VAT should get removed outside of the EU, mine worked out to 564EUR, approx $600
-- EDIT --
Looks like they have upped the price after I purchased, so it's closer to $700 now after VAT removal and delivery.
I see it's listed as 1,264 on Amazon prime, not sure if that's truly next day or not, but it's listed at $900ish everywhere else. I think I paid $950ish after taxes.
I actually purchased one about a year ago and barely use it...thinking about parting with it. I still have it in it's original box too. If I was in Seattle, would you buy it from me?
Ah I see you meant the one he's using. Yeah that's pricy.
I don't think you would have to spend as much as you listed, but I get what you're saying. It's valid. I payed about $400 for the radio, built the dipole myself for about $50 (could have been less, but I bought a $35 balun to be part of it). I got my first key for about $15 on ebay, just to play around with. My "real" key cost about $50.
A person can practice without a radio by buying a cheap key oscillator and a key. It will basically make the noises for you so you can try it out and/or practice without any other items. There are some phone apps that will let you press the screen as if it is a straight key, I personally didn't find that very useful, but its something. I believe MorseMania (android) has that feature, it basically aims to teach you how to time the dashes and dots properly for each character.
I'm not saying the following are any good - but this is the general thing I'm talking about. I bought the 2nd one and found the tiny speaker to be shrill and hard to listen to. Putting some tape over it helped.
Electronic keyer for iambic paddles with a tiny speaker for practicing (speaker is annoying)
Very similar to what I got

this style works great. Gone on several longer trips with the pups and am amazed at the amount of dirt / debris I shake out of it at the end!
But that’s not Amazon’s return policy.
“This item can be returned in its original condition for a full refund or replacement within 30 days of receipt.”

I have this one and it has done me well in both my Warlock and my Rebel. I like the front mesh spot so I can see what my dog is doing

I got the iBuddy one off Amazon (found here) and so far it's survived puppy teeth and a handful of road trips, along with daily use just fine. The window handles are annoying, but that's my only complaint so far.
You can still buy one. I got one a few years ago (it stopped working after a few months), and it sounds exactly the same. Has a mini line out so you can amp it up too!

There is a bigger one on amazon that is cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/Giga-Custom-Professional-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B086D9X8TP/ref=sr_1_2?crid=LY3UBLPP9IDO&dchild=1&keywords=giga+mouse+pad&qid=1609617168&sprefix=giga+mouse%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-2
Anyone know if the Volca Drum ever comes up at the $150 price point on Amazon? Only see a few units there at msrp.
I have a $100 gift card I'm looking to spend, and this seems like a fun pairing with my Digitone.
buy something like this and practice sending out messages

I am looking for a synth that is this or is similar to this (https://www.amazon.com/Korg-27-Key-Sound-Module-VOLCAKEYS/dp/B00CAKSVTU/F1SuIZZIeRS?ref=dp_vse_ibvc0). I am new to synth but not new to music. I am looking for something that I can use with my Windows PC (soon to be dual-booted w/ Linux as well). I am familiar with programming/software development and would appreciate any recommendations for software to go along with the recommended synth. I want something that I can easily connect with my PC (preferably USB but I'm not sure if that is even possible/enough, am fine with buying some adapter and chords if necessary). Thanks for any recommendations. Price Range ~200 w/ chords/setup.
I just got the "Sythophone - Stylophone clone ($0.99). It's seems good…flexible, sounds authentic
I also have a real Stylophone…they're not very expensive: $29.95 on Amazon…fun for the tactile experience
Stylophone Retro Pocket Synth https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SKHSRU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cZXiBbS0KAM1Q
They also have a beat box, which looks like fun, & the GEN X-1 version of the synth
Demo song:
I've seen prices like that on other sites. For instance. My only issue is the shipping will likely take much longer than you expect. I ordered a laptop battery from a Chinese seller back in september and still haven't gotten it.
If price is the main concern I'd also suggest buying a used one off reverb.
A "real telegraph" as you call it would be a morse key, a couple of batteries, a long pair of wires and a sounder.
But in a casino, the people falling over the wires would be a dead give away.
What you probably saw would be a morse key with a miniature radio transmitter and a radio receiver, perhaps with earpiece.
In other words, nothing old at all. Radio Hams are still enthusiastically using Morse code today.
You can still buy a WW2 pilots morse key that can be strapped to your leg.
Or just buy a modern one.
Plans to make a miniature morse transmitter and receiver can be found in any of the Ham books and magazines.
Or you could just use this.
Looked at the reviews...
> Everyone I care about has now given up attempting to talk to me. I've lost contact with friends, family members, pets... Small children cry when they see me approaching. My ears have yet to cease bleeding since I starting playing the instrument. I haven't eaten or slept in weeks. But, in the famous words of Miley Cyrus, I can't stop. And I won't stop. Yeah-e-yeah.
No idea. That image isn't actually what I have just the first good google search image I found.
Looking further this is what I have.
Edit: Although what I have might be a dollar store knock off as well its not really a complicated piece of plastic.
OMG I'm getting one! They also have black! If white looks a little too... spermy for you.
How about that gekkokon synth or whatever. Has a ribbon band. I think it's the cheapest synth on amazon, less than 50.
Edit: searched for its called gakken http://www.amazon.com/Gakken-SX-150-MARK-Analog-Synthesizer/dp/B005Q22HV2
