I mean a lot of guys are going to say Modlite, or Surefire, but if you want true quality and performance, there's really only one choice. Official Weapon Light of SOCOM and UKSF
For the money the Streamlight Protac 2 is really hard to beat. Comes with pressure pad and mounts to put the pad on a Picatanny rail.

Amazon has it for $102 with 15% off if you check the coupon box below the price.
you sure you're wrong? I see the 88066 HL-X for 104. Looks like it has the rail mount and tape switch as well.
Trust me brother I feel the cost issue, but you can pick up a Streamlight TLR-1 HL for like $130 and pretty much any major holster manufacturer makes something for you. I have like 4 of them on a bunch of different pistols and have never had any issues at all with any of them. The 1,000 lumens is perfect for trips to the fridge for a late night snack too.
Streamlight 88066 Pro Tac Rail Mount HL-X, 1,000 Lumen. Purchased this for my HD AR15 and really like it. Check out the reviews on YouTube from Sage Dynamic. $114 on Amazon
Another vote for the HLX. amazon has them for $106. You can mount it on the end of the handguard at 3 and you won’t get too much carbon on the lens.
Was just grabbing the amazon link for the HL-X

OK, you guys win. I am returning olight. I am getting Streamlight 69260 TLR-1 HL 1000-Lumen
First, let's get this out of the way: that example is guaranteed to be garbage and its output is nowhere near 9,000 lumens.
Alright, back to business:
By "touch sensor", I assume you're referring to the pressure switch commonly used in conjunction with IR lasers and illuminators. I would stress that pressure switches are an additional failure point that you can often simply omit with smart placement of the light. See the light placement on my home defense carbine - instead of a switch, I clamp the handguard as I always do and my thumb naturally rests near the tailcap switch.
If you insist on a light that supports pressure switches, your best bets would be from Streamlight, SureFire, or Modlite. By far the best bang for the buck of those is the Streamlight HL-X, which delivers 1,000 lumens in a relatively compact and durable package that includes a rail mount and a pressure switch. A comparable SureFire setup would cost more than twice as much.
Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2.
625 lumens. It's bright as heck and comes with a pressure plate.
$100 on Amazon. Don't waste your money with other overpriced brands.
The price goes up and down but $115.72 with free Prime shipping is the best price you're going to get. I'd highly advise you to stay away from the APL line, as I've had 3 of them and 2 of them were complete shit and had to be sent back.
I've owned probably...10 different TLR's over the years for my guns and I've never had a problem with any of them. Plus the brightness of the HL is superb, and the light from the APL-C leaves much to be desired.
I've always been more of a fan of dedicated weapon mounted lights. Usually the ones that have integrated mounts built into them are less bulky and don't stick out as much, plus you don't have to buy multiple parts (Light, mount, tape switch, etc) you just buy one product and go with it.
I'm a big fan of the Streamlight 88066 Pro Tac Rail Mount HL-X, which is 1000 lumens, comes with a built in mount and switch, etc. It's not tiny, but when you have 1000 lumens you're not going to get tiny, and you want all the lumens you can get on an AR.
If you decide you want less lumens and a smaller light, I'd still recommend an actual weapon light. Streamlight makes rear plates for all of their lights that let you attach a switch adapter for rifles like this TLR-1 kit on Amazon
Just put a TLR-1 HL to my pistol and quite satisfied with the quality. I am also looking for two flashlights one for shotgun and another one for PCC. I like the compact feel and I tend to keep them light weight for either HD and practicing in the shooting range.
Anyone mind elaborate why streamlight is $80 better than this or well rated Feyachi on Amazon. More on reliability ?
Sorry I am pretty new to the gun world and no friend comes with experience that I can ask. Have to learn and try out all by myself. Appreciated ! !
I feel like people advising you here are speaking from a place of...having money. Sometimes you just need the bare minimum that will get the job done in a pinch. I'd love to have a Holosun red dot and a high end Streamlight on all my guns. But I can't and will not be able to for the foreseeable future.
My Olight Baldr Mini 600 laser/light combo works great. It's not beefy enough for my AR, but works great for pistols and even my PCC. I use it on my P320, and everyone is saying it's inaccurate but...it nails nearly dead on 10-15 yards. I don't think I could shoot a fly out of the air with it, but if you put that laser on someone's chest they're going to get hit when you pull the trigger. Way faster than using irons in a stressful situation.
And I tried a few garbage Amazon flashlights for my AR, and this one has been the best. I'd like to upgrade eventually, don't think I'd trust this one to long-term survive the apocalypse, but it's solid, still works after a ton of rounds have gone past it, and at the end of the day it does what I need it to: it throws a lot of light where my gun is pointing. I'm not deploying to Afghanistan with it.
i posted this at r/calguns. I am returning oblight and I am getting streamlight tr1-hl instead https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-69260-Weapon-Tactical-Flashlight/dp/B00B8Q31UQ/ref=sr\_1\_2?crid=1OBBIVV34P0MJ&dchild=1&keywords=streamlight+tlr-1+hl&qid=1626561217&sprefix=streamlight+%2Caps%2C498&sr=8-2

If you want shop around a bit, might find it cheaper.
I've been using a Streamlight 88066 Protac for a while now and like it. Comes with a picatinny mount but will work with scout pattern mounts too. Also comes with a tailcap switch and a remote pressure switch. $92 shipped on Amazon right now which is a really good price.
One of the most popular entry level lights is this Streamlight:

Make sure you have the right mounts.
Surefire M600 is the current best of the best, but it is being replaced with a 1500/1000 lumen model in the near future. They are spendy ($260-$400+), but bomb proof. You also have to pay extra for a tape switch/pressure pad.
I'm currently running a Streamlight Protac HL-X. Look up Sage Dynamics review of it on YouTube. He's a well respected firearms instructor. He beat the hell out of it and hasn't had any issues. It's also half to a third of the M600's price, higher output, and includes a pressure pad. I picked mine up for $110 - Amazon link.
Pistol lights like the Surefire X300U, Streamlight TLR-1HL, and others generally don't have the same throw for 50-150 yards that rifle/carbine lights do. Controls are also less than ideal. Hunting models have the throw at distance, but almost zero spill/flood for up close.
If you have the cash, wait until the new Surefire comes out and get that (M600DF). If you don't want to wait or are on a budget, get the Streamlight Protac HL-X.
I have laundered my eBay bucks into real cash and so the eBay stipulation no longer applies. That being said I think I am going for this one here: https://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Flashlight-Battery-Charger-Camping/dp/B07GS21VYR/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1539283847&sr=8-7&keywords=Sofirn#customerReviews
Any input on that? Seems well received on BudgetLightForum and amazon. The company seems to make decent products for less.

Apparently some counterfeit issues but it is Amazon official and apparently if you keeps sending it back they do send real ones on a crapshoot basis. Full set up though and I'll probably go with this eventually
The Streamlight Protac Rail Mount HL-X is probably the best overall long gun light for your money. It's got a good balance of throw and flood for a long gun. It's super popular and has lots of accessories available like mounts.
Ah makes sense. If you look at my posts I have a streamlight on 2 builds and they have been beat to hell and have a great battery life. Streamlight 88066 ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Fixed Mount Ten Tap, 1,000 Lumens,Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VTLLDH4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JrhtFb17ATER4

In the first few questions/comments there's a post to tell how to spot a fake from Amazon. I bought one it was legit and no issues.

edit: link to TLR-1 HL with strobe - https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-692602-Weapon-Tactical-Flashlight/dp/B00B8Q31UQ/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_4?keywords=streamlight+tlr-1s&qid=1553043491&s=gateway&sr=8-4-fkmrnull
What is your price range? What kind of battery do you want? Surefire is the go to but they are expensive. Streamlight makes a good solid light in that price range and is what I would get for the tactical style light. http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-69260-TLR-1-Rail-Mounted-Tactical/dp/B00B8Q31UQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446238109&sr=8-1&keywords=streamlight+tlr-1+hl. Otherwise if you are like me and prefer an actual flashlight that you can remove I would go with the Armytek doberman pro. http://goinggear.com/armytek-dobermann-pro-1x18650-2x-r-cr123-1250-lumens-cree-xp-l-hi-led-flashlight.html The nice thing is this can take the new 18650 batteries (Li-ion and rechargable) or two cr123 (pop over to r/flashlights for more questions.)
