I've been wanting to read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi - and it comes out tomorrow!
It's listed as "Teen & Young Adult" on Amazon, but the description definitely makes it sound like fantasy to me.
So Amazon is having an ebook sale for 80% of the first book in selected series. Since A Wizard of Earthsea is on sale, I saw that this was on sale as well. I heard great things about this series.
Hey this is a great request! I teach Greek and Roman literature to high school freshman and I would start with Edith Hamilton’s Mythology:
Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes https://www.amazon.com/dp/0446574759/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1KMBFbHF7MJHM
And I would also say that Robert Fagles’ translation of The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aenied are pretty accessible. Maybe think about those over the next couple of years sometime?
Just over 200 pages, but is worth a look:
Wizard of Earthsea: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008T9L6AM/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tkin_p1_i0
Somehow he even manages to interrupt people when there's a script.
Also, here's the book she's reading for the real pervs. I think I actually read it before, which I wasn't expecting.
Hey peeps!
I'm a local author of fantasy and science fiction! My novel, Knightmare Arcanist, won the BRAG Award, the Apple Fantasy Away, and the Coffee Pot Book Club Award. I just wanted to share with everyone, lol
If you like reading, please consider checking it out: https://www.amazon.com/Knightmare-Arcanist-Frith-Chronicles-Book-ebook/dp/B07QMKVFJM
I'm not sure if this is a good example or not but the book is called Pendragon: The Merchant of Death. This link will let you read the first few pages.
another commenter mentioned dragonlance which does have dragons in metallic colors so I wonder if it's this one? https://www.amazon.com/Practical-Guide-Dragons-Guides/dp/0786941642 unfortunately I haven't read it so I'm not sure if the illustrations match.
It's not really litrpg, but it's very similar to pokemon. Except the summons give there owners powers. Also not cute animals.

Not that I'm aware of, though it has of course been translated into Latin.

I have always been partial to Greek/Roman mythology. I think the best book for beginners is Edith Hamilton's Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes. It contains a good account of the Greek Creation myths and some of the more popular Greek myths, making it the perfect book for anyone interested in mythology, especially beginners.

It's only about $9.00 on Amazon right now: Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes

Is it "A Practical Guide to Dragons?"
I think it was just around that time that I started in on the Pendragon series (link for book 1 of 10). And of course the Eragon series. I think fantasy captured my imagination best at that time, but obviously every one is different. If you have ideas about his/her interests, we may be able to track down some better options for you. Good luck!
Good deal. It looks like file conversions have improved a bit, so you may have some options. I looked around, and I do have an extra copy of Mythology: Timeless Tales of God's and Heroes by Edith Hamilton. It's paperback and in almost like new condition. Shoot me a msg if you are interested. Totally free on your end. It's no biggie either way.
If you read The Iliad and The Odyssey you would remember it. They are big, dense classics. If what you say is true then what you learned in High School English is almost laughably inadequate. Greek history and literature are very dense subjects. There are hundreds of different heros, gods, and monsters, all with their own story. Here is a good book to get you started.

This book provides a decent introduction to all the major Greek myths. I'd recommend it as a starting point. Then, once you're fairly familiar with the major characters of the mythology, you can have a better appreciation of things like The Iliad and The Odyssey. It does include an abridged version of both of those, though, so you may or may not want to skip those parts until you read the full versions.
Hero by Perry Moore. The protagonist is gay. It is a coming of age book.. with superpowers. It is the only book I have read with a gay protagonist, and I really enjoyed it :).
Pendragon. It was sort of popular at my school when it came out but I couldn't get past the first chapter. It's one of the few books I just can't find the energy to care about.
I really enjoyed Hero by Perry Moore it is a teen book and has a bit of a fantastical element to it but I enjoyed it. It's especially good for people who are into Comic books are just comic book characters.
Top of the list as per Rex Grossman: A Pracitcal Guide to Dragons
