Yeah not as simplified as if they simply Transfigured themself into an animal. In that case they wouldn't even keep their human mind. The book said:
>While in their animal form, they retain most of their ability to think as a human, their own sense of identity and their memories. [...] However, feelings and emotions are simplified and they will have many animal desires
u/witty-technician-489 can go on Amazon and get a free e-book sample and see for themself. Here is the link.
Here's a pretty big one off the top of my head, and last I checked, the whole series is in there. I think Amazon likely gave some popular books extremely favorable terms in order to use books like these in their KU advertising. Another one I can think of is The Handmaid's Tale.
English translations of all Year 1
Year 2 is also getting translated
Yeah, I second the Pottermore notes. They're a lot of fun and especially good for backstory on some of my favorite characters.
You can find them on Amazon too, here's one example - https://www.amazon.com/Hogwarts-Hardship-Dangerous-Pottermore-Presents-ebook/dp/B01JLXETNK/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=1KYL3870UEPU6&keywords=pottermore&qid=1663022132&sprefix=pottermore%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-1
Oh for sure. The whole business model of books is basically fucked right now. They are way too expensive.
It's so much more cost-effective to make books almost entirely digital but the publishers keep e-books expensive in order to not decimate their physical book sales, which places like libraries support.
https://www.amazon.com/Harry-Potter-Complete-Collection-1-7-ebook/dp/B01B3DIPMW
This is a good example. The digital book is literally more expensive than the physical book. $63 for 7 .mobi files?
E-books/publishing are more or less are where music and movies were in the early 2000s. The old distribution method didn't work very effectively, so there were massive piracy issues. Then Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and like 80 other services ended up delivering movies and TV shows. People forget DVDs were like $20 back in the day for movies, if not more.
The price of E-books is kept artificially high so that a bunch more players don't end up getting into the market and undercutting Amazon/Barnes and Noble. People still prefer physical books at this point, but only due to the high price point of E-books. I think the physical book market would entirely collapse if they tried to aggressively move people towards E-readers and cheaper technology.
Nah, Slughorn was a pureblood and definitely biased in regards to it.
His heritage is mentioned in the E-Book Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists, written by Rowling. Though it was also published on Pottermore, which doesen't exist and you can read the archieved article here. > Horace Eugene Flaccus Slughorn was born into an ancient wizarding family, the only son of doting and wealthy parents. Although a fundamentally good-tempered boy, he was educated to believe in the value of the old boys’ network (his father was a high-ranking Ministry official in the Department of International Magical Co-operation), and encouraged to make friends ‘of the right sort’ once he arrived at Hogwarts. The Slughorn family is one of the so-called ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’, (a select list of the only families designated ‘pure-blooded’ by an anonymous author in the 1930s) and while Slughorn’s parents were never militant in their pure-blood beliefs, they encouraged a quiet belief in the family’s innate superiority.
He is also shown to believe that blood matters, as we see him assume that the outstanding Talent of people like Tom Riddle, Lily Evans and Hermione have to be the result of good herritage, and thinks it's quite noteworthy that sometimes muggleborn like Lily and Hermione are so outstanding.
Otherwise we see him value people mostly for potential benefit they bring to himself in the future, and drops those that dont meet his expectations like Neville or Belby, Hell he doesen't even bother remembering Ron's name.
This is one of the ebooks Rowling published with the most important writings she did for the old Pottermore. I don't know if this is on the Wizarding World website nowadays. The new website sucks.
Ahhh! Perfect post, I am a babybumps lurker and never feel like I have anything to contribute. FTM already named most of my faves, but as for NEW ones, my mom just bought the NY Times best illustrated children's books of 2021 and they are as follows:
- The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess (Tom Gauld)
- Keeping the City Going (Brian Floca)
-It Fell from the Sky (Terry Fan)
Though they were all awarded for illustration, I've read them all and they were EXCELLENT. Besides that, you MUST GET "I Want My Hat Back" (Jon Klassen).
And.... it's never too early to start them on Harry Potter... right? https://www.amazon.com/Harry-Potter-Sorcerers-Stone-Illustrated-ebook/dp/B073QTXDBZ/ref=sr\_1\_2?crid=1TBCH6P34Q88G&keywords=harry+potter+illustrated&qid=1637453660&s=books&sprefix=harry+potter%2Cstripbooks%2C196&sr=1-2
Not exactly clear, but in the description of how to become an Animagi which Rowling wrote in one of her E-Books it is noted that it's always the animal that becomes your patronus.
>The animal into which one turns, if an Animagus, seems always to be that which becomes the Patronus. There is no known instance of the Animagus form changing to match the Patronus if the latter changes, but the Animagus who can also produce a Patronus is highly unusual and no study has ever been done on sufficient numbers to draw firm conclusions.
So stuff like personality probably plays a role. Though names probably also affect things somewhat, as Sirius Black turned into a large Black Dog(Sirius himself being named after the Dog Star)
Short stories from hogwarts. They are digital releases from jkr! It’s great! I had a great time reading all 3 of them. Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies (Kindle Single) (Pottermore Presents Book 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JLXETNK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_H.CaGb7GMHDNR
Harry Potter en de Steen der Wijzen (Dutch) Amazon.com (from the US they are expensive. Probably much cheaper to purchase and have them shipped from the Netherlands. A nice Christmas present to ask for!
Review of the Dutch Books Youtube
Yes, but that is an advanced ability.
It's mentioned as part of the process of becoming an animagus in one of the E-books Rowling wrote.
> 10.To return to a human form, visualise your human self as clearly as you can. This should be sufficient, but do not panic if the transformation does not occur immediately. With practice, you will be able to slip in and out of your animal form at will, simply by visualising the creature. Advanced Animagi can transform without wands.

Highly recommend Short stories written as a supplement to the books. Also if you're interested in some fan fiction I really enjoyed Herminone's POV
Its already revealed in the the E-Books Rowling wrote, Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies.
Someone posted the specific part about the process of becoming a Animagus here on Tumblr.
~~Frequently if you go to an author's page and change the search results from the default of "Featured" to "Price: High to Low" you can see the bundles/box-set (all books in one giant file) and the series page (all the individual books files) since they're usually the most expensive thing.~~
~~As an~~ ~~example~~ ~~for George R. R. Martin the top two most expensive kindle items are both the 5 books of Game of Thrones. In this case the box-set is a better deal, but since individual books typically go on sale more often than box-sets do, sometimes the series page ends up being a better deal.~~
~~Some~~ ~~individual books~~ ~~will also have a "Books in this series" list under the book description with a link to the complete series on the left.~~
~~Although, looking at Spanish page for George R. R. Martin, I don't see an option to narrow down search results to just kindle books on an author's page (although the fact that I don't speak/read Spanish might just be causing me to miss it), so trying to go to "Price: High to Low" didn't narrow down results as I hoped.~~

Okay, I was wondering why I couldn't get the series page to appear on any .es page, so I googled it and according to amazon:
>Series Collection
>
>A Series Collection allows customers to see and buy all eBooks in a series from a single Series detail page. It also provides series visibility from the item detail page. This feature is available on a limited basis on Amazon.com. Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, and Amazon.co.jp. Please note that not all features are available in every marketplace.
So unfortunately this may not be available for you if you only buy of the .es site.
In general, purchasing a "collection" will be one huge file, but will cost less; purchasing a "series" will give you separate files, but will cost more. You can also tell by the formatting of the purchase page: "Collections" pages only have one purchase option, where "series" pages will allow you to purchase either the whole series or any of the individual titles in the series. If you've already purchased a book from the series, it's price will not be included in the series price; but if you instead buy the collection, you're basically paying twice for that title.
For your specific concern about scrolling, check the sample before you buy; a well formatted "collection" should have a clickable table of contents so that you can skip to whichever title you want to read within the collection.
Edit to add an example.
Since you mentioned Harry Potter, I will use that.
The Harry Potter "collection": https://amazon.com/dp/B01B3DIPMW
The Harry Potter "series": https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BSDR0YG
So now I must wonder... Was Fangirl also required reading for this class?
