That exists and I use it every day. The bacteria is S. salivarius M18 and it’s in this stuff: https://www.hyperbiotics.com/products/pro-dental
Also if you are interested look at NANO MEDICAL HYDROXYAPATITE. It’s a molecule that rebuilds enamel. Available in Japanese toothpaste: https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-Premio-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZSC
There is a lot more cool stuff like novamin.
I thought Colgate Total was different as it contained Triclosan. But i think other toothpastes have this too.
Big difference.. Sensodyne Repair and Protect has a bioglass compound called Novamin that actually bonds with the enamel and gives it an extra coating that fortifies teeth enamel. It is the only compound and toothpaste that actually repairs or fortified your enamel.
I know a new compound called Biomin has come out which is a superior version of Novamin, but it is only available in the UK for now.
Edit: correction: Bioglass is not the only compound that repairs your enamel. But it is the best or among the best there is. Also available over the counter so you don't need some expensive prescription toothpaste.
Novamin (a type of bioglass) was invented by a scientist and Sensodyne bought out his research, so to my knowledge Sensodyne Repair and Protect (non US version) is the only off the shelf toothpaste that has Novamin.
For some reason, the version in the US does not have Novamin. If you want to buy the Novamin version in the US, buy it from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Repair-Protect-Whitening-Toothpaste/dp/B008VPSTOA
It takes a few weeks to ship from the UK. But the price is reasonable: $6.60 and free shipping.
its this there was a post just a few days ago that i saw it on, i figured why not give it a shot.
yes. you can also buy it form normal amazon too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008VPSTOA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i have REALLY sensitive teeth (grew up poor as fuck) and this shit actually does help a lot.
I have to order my Sensodyne from the UK for this very reason. I have weak enamel and regular Sensodyne wasn't doing anything. Someone in another reddit post mentioned you can order it from Amazon UK so I did.
It's like $6 a tube, but worth it.
EDIT: Here's the link. It's not Amazon.UK but it ships from the UK for $6.60 free shipping.
I have white spots on my front teeth from braces as well, and finally got an answer from the last dentist I saw that they're demineralized spots, and if they don't develop further then they can remineralize but unless they do they'll be more likely to develop cavities.
I bought a remineralizing paste from my dentist with fluoride and hydroxy apatite in it, which helps remineralize the spots, and have been using it as a spot treatment. After some research into it I also bought a remineralization toothpaste off of Amazon, it's from Japan because it's not sold in the US but it's got the same effect as the paste. I've been using this for a few weeks now, and the white spots on my teeth have gotten a lot less noticeable.
You might still have issues with your teeth and this might not totally get rid of the spots, but I would highly recommend trying the toothpaste for a few months and seeing if that helps before looking at veneers. I feel like remineralization is not something that dentists in the US tend to look at other than fluoride, which isn't as effective as hydroxy apatite, but it's worth looking into.
One of my kids had this after wearing braces. Demineralized white spots. Also can be caused by diet and nutrition issues, or celiac disease.
Dr prescribed a nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste. It's also available on Amazon, I use this one
Or you know... One click on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-Repair-Protect-NOVAMIN-European/dp/B00RZ2OB5Q
And here's an American dentists reply about it in Quora.
There’s a couple vendors on Amazon that are prime eligible with it being about$15 a tube. I use Apagard-M because I don’t notice a difference between that and the more expensive premio version.
EDIT: Prime Link here
Yes you can, it's available on Amazon just make sure you get the one that says Novamin, like this
Ok so I've never gone on Accutane but I've had serious lip problems before and it took me a while to pinpoint. Dry, peeling, sore aggravated lips (and also got some white spots for no reason too). All but the white spots was because of my toothpaste. I can't use all of the regular toothpastes (crest, arm and hammer, pretty much everything) because there's something in them that completely dries out my mouth and causes my lips to freak out because I think I might be allergic or sensitive to it. The Accutane might have given you some new allergies so I want to suggest something:
Buy some Premio toothpaste (it's what I use now) linky poo
Use Biotene mouthwash for dry mouth another linky
Use it for a couple of weeks and see if it helps? I'm not going through exactly the same thing, but I've got the white bumps in my lips for no apparent reason, I guess since forever and forever more, but the chapped/peeling and sore lips I've sorted out.
I also saw the post about Novamin the other day. I think you may have misinterpreted what you read there. My impression is that the FDA has no problem with Novamin being available OTC, it's just that the manufacturer has chosen to control the supply and refuse to sell it that way. That wouldn't make it illegal to buy or sell.
If it was actually illegal to buy or sell it in the US, you probably wouldn't be able to order it via Amazon. That's just one of many options on Amazon too.
Yeah, i found it being sold online on amazon, so I can get like a 6pack of https://www.amazon.com/Sensodyne-repair-protect-novamin-pack/dp/B00RZ2OB5Q . My teeths enamel has been seriously damaged because i suffered from an eating disorder that caused me to vomit several times a week, so i was looking for anything that can help undo the damage that caused. Teeth are sensitive and enamel is very damaged.
The only two options I know about are: Denttabs Toothpaste Tablets and Colgate Tooth Powder.
Every time there’s a thread about which toothpaste to use all the Reddit dentists come out of the woodwork to say they don’t care what toothpaste you use as long as it has fluoride BUT, foamy American toothpaste makes me gag so I’ve been using this Japanese kind that happens to use nanohydroxyapatite instead of fluoride. Internet search turned up some plausible, serious looking studies on efficacy and no mentions on woowoo blogs, so passes my “seems legit” test. Sharing in case any of this sits better with you!

You're probably in the United States trying to buy it from a local store or Walmart. You can't. It's a little hard to get due to some FDA rules. Look up Burt's Bees Toothpaste Novamin for a fun bit of reading related to Novamin. Something like this is where I find it most of the time. A bit pricey, but it is worth it compared to dental visits.
i know this toothpaste is very expensive, but you could give it a try
it reduces sensitivity a lot for me
it may not help you much, but you could give it a try
pretty sure i have cavities and i am too poor and too scared to go to dentist right now

If u are based in America if u look up unflavored toothpaste on Amazon you will find one under oranurse. That's the one I have been using since this whole shenanigans. https://www.amazon.com/Oranurse-3659273-50ml-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0 Hopefully the link qnd the toothpaste itself works for u!
This is the one I always get:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EF39784/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've ordered it 3 times so far and it got caught up in customs only once but they resent the order when I let the seller know.
Oh the waterpik will be amazing the more you use it. I also highly, highly recommend this toothpaste. It will make your teeth feel brand spankin' new, especially any sensitive spots. It has changed my life, I'm serious. I use gum detoxify toothpaste in the AM and this toothpaste in the PM.
FYI they have remineralizing toothpaste in Japan, you can import it through Amazon.

I've heard good things about it, your milage may vary.
Sensodyne is the name. Novamin is the stuff he's talking about. I have it, you can ship it on Amazon without prescription. I'm sure on some minute level it does help as much as people claim, but personally it didn't really help at all. The reason it isn't available in US is assumed to be because it wasn't approved with the label that it can "repair" teeth, so they just cut it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008VPSTOA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kFOgEb5MC5R3H
You should check out Sensodyne in the UK. You can get it here
Unlike the Sensodyne in the US, it contains Novamin, which actually closes the microscopic holes in your enamel.
This is unflavored toothpaste for adults, with the normal fluorine: https://www.amazon.com/Oranurse-3659273-50ml-Unflavoured-Toothpaste/dp/B0085AOSU0/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_mod_primary_new?crid=L7TN1MLSYT6U&
Dr Collins now has a toothpaste with a 2nd gen bioglass compound called Biomin, which is what I use. As effective as the older Novamin which, as you said, was purchased by GSK and then never incorporated into Sensodyne for the US market (a crime IMHO) https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Collins-BioMin-Toothpaste-Ounce/dp/B07H944RLG
A Sonicare toothbrush.
Dentist visits are so much easier.
Apagard Premio toothpaste. Yes it's better than fluoride.
This combination made me stop getting cavities.
I use Japanese Apagard Premio nanohydroxyapatite remineralizing toothpaste, and notice less dental sensitivity.
Also, and this one might be pretty niche, but we’re vegan, and the difference that small batch artisanal tofu makes cannot be overstated. We typically spend $6 to $8 an lbs, vs $2 mass produced brands. The taste and texture are vastly superior.
>Nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste
I just want to confirm, you are talking about this one right? https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-Premio-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZSC?th=1
I'm not a dentist but My general go-to is apagard premio, also from amazon :) https://www.amazon.com/Apagard-Premio-toothpaste-nanohydroxyapatite-remineralizing/dp/B0016GCZSC/
It's so great to see american ones popping up again, back when I first discovered NHA(nano-hydroxyapatite) Sensodyne had pulled it out of all their products and nothing else was available here q.q
