I'm not gonna lie, it looks comfortable and hits all the right ergonomic needs for comfy safe napping anywhere, but it would be hard to feel comfortable enough to fall asleep when everyone around me is laughing at me
Honestly just a basic one like this one will do wonders. They’re great for keeping your neck supported if you fall asleep, especially if you’re flying economy. You can get them just about anywhere you can buy a suitcase.
Many years ago I discovered a magnetic stud finder in Fry's Electronics. Remember those stores? I had tried all sorts of electronic ones and they all led to disappointment. This thing changed it all. Seems it's no longer available, at least on Amazon.
I bought an inflatable elevation pillow from Amazon. Great for travel or anywhere else you need an easily portable elevation option.

Thats a good point too with the dangling! They also sell inflatable foot rests (so safe in an accident) that may help give her feet something to do

I have a hard time sleeping on planes. This pillow thing keeps your head from moving around too much. It’s definitely improved long flights for me
trtl Pillow - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LB7REFK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QT8DETD8E3D1E6FJE3B9
This is the pillow that I use on flights. It's been great.
Also always always always a window seat, noise cancelling headphones, eye mask, compression socks. I also wear layers to help with temp regulation.

As for heating pads, I have this that runs on power banks. Also crazy useful.

It's an ostrich pillow or something similar I think?

Try this out - seriously. Once they have something to put their feet on, the kicking completely stops.

It sounds like the Ascent did exactly what I’m assuming you bought it for: to protect your new and growing family. For me, that one factor supersedes all other “drawbacks” combined, and why I’ll likely ONLY buy Subaru as our daily driver until my kids are fully grown.
That said…
1- Give them something to put their feet up on so their feet aren’t just dangling. We got this adjustable inflatable foot rest off Amazon for $20 and it works like a charm.
2- The higher trim levels are much, much better. If they’re still not supportive/comfortable enough for your needs though, I’d definitely try a support insert before considering a less safe SUV.
thank you for your response!
was a snoogle good enough or did you feel it was lacking? For example, there are medical wedges where one piece goes behind your back, and another piece goes under your knees, alleviating the pressure from your lower back when sleeping upright. I purchased both a snoogle and that system, but looking to understand how a snoogle was sufficient for you
jawbras are on route!
my friend just lended me their vicks humidifier which I can put vicks vapor pads in! hoping that will be useful. re:arnica I purchased CBD full spectrum balm instead.. hoping that helps similarly
For the neck pillow, do you think this would work? https://www.amazon.com/Trtl-Pillow-Scientifically-Support-Washable/dp/B00LB7REBE
Fuck all these. You'll have to find one similar, but this thing has no batteries, and I can find nails through 3/4" plaster and then 1/4" drywall. These are beast!

I couldn’t use them either until I tried this one, it’s skinny at the back so it doesn’t push your head forward and it can go under your chin to stop your head dropping.
I'm a bit of a dainty sleeper, really need proper head support to be able to fall asleep.
I have taken this pillow(the large version) with me on every single trip.

I keep an inflatable one as well for between my knees if I sleep on side that night.
I bought this one from Amazon (BCOZZY Chin Supporting Travel Pillow - Supports The Head, Neck https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DODMU9I
The fact that it has the front chin support is amazing and it stuffs into a bag easily or can strap onto a bag.
Packing cubes, a 360-swivel hard top (I have two different sizes of the Amazon basics one and actually love it...it won’t hold up forever but I needed to step up this year with a new job and they’ve served me well so far), this pillow , my Kindle, a charger so my iPhone doesn’t punk out halfway through a plane movie.
I’m still trying to find the perfect travel tote. I’d love one that does double duty for work since I bring my laptop home often. Right now I have this and it looks good and functions but it might be a little too structured.
The travelrest travel pillow. Without it I can’t imagine long haul economy flights. I like to be in aisle seats so I can use the restroom and not feel claustrophobic, but also like leaning on the window to sleep. This pillow works wonders and I’ve had it with me for two 6 month trips as well as many shorter trips.

I’ve also been looking for a foot rest for when I get my titan (hopefully by the end of this month ) the best thing ( at least on Amazon) is this Sunany Inflatable Foot Rest Pillow https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K69DZWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CwZjFbSF3SBTE
It’s not the best but I honestly haven’t seen anything better and not stupidly expensive.
I used to have this problem. I like listening to ASMR with in-ear earbuds, but lying on your side on a pillow squishes them uncomfortably into your ears. My solution was to buy one of those as-seen-on-tv Total Pillows and sleep with my ear resting inside the hole! As for youtube commercials, you basically have to either tough it out or buy a Youtube Music subscription (which removes all commercials).
They make inflatable pillows that pack small, but I really don't like them. Your head just kinda rolls off of them.
My favorite is the Thermarest pillow. A proper squishy pillow that stuffs into itself to reduce the size. Comes in a bunch of sizes and colors.
I’m a huge fan of this neck supporter, really reduces strain on long flights:

Does anti-motion sickness medicine (like Dramamine) work for you? If so, I recommend getting that for the flight. I also have prescription Ambien that I bring to help me sleep.
I bought this inflatable pillow a few years ago and it helps me sleep better than those neck pillows. And since it’s inflatable, it’s easy to pack.
I also recommend wearing shoes you can easily take on and off as well as comfy socks.
I've got one of these neck pillow/brace things and I like it. Your head doesn't have to bend nearly as far over to get supported. Also, most planes get chilly, so the fleece provides some extra warmth
I have this Thermarest pillow and wouldn't think of camping without it. It's so comfortable that I even use it for naps at home sometimes.
Thanks! Good to know. I was thinking about picking up a Camelbak. Still not sure. I hope to try out my equipment in the next couple weeks. I got one of those Thermarest camping pillows. It seems to compress really well. Hopefully that's not the pillow you found to suck!
