Get a tempered glass screen protector. The Switch screen wont shatter if dropped, but the flip side is it scratches and scuffs easily. These are pretty good.
Mine has been used docked only since launch and it's still flawless. More playtime than should be allowed by law.
That said, get a screen protector. $8 for two, easy to apply, and you get peace of mind knowing your switch's plastic screen is safe. I've have one on my switch since launch.
Direct Link to the 1.13 Firmware update
I just played some Rocket League to test it out and it seems to work flawlessly with no perceptible lag and rumble support. The buttons correspond to the button position on the Pro Controller, so the transition was seamless.
Only the newer Xbox One controllers are supported since the earlier ones didn't have Bluetooth. I am running on the latest firmware(5.0) for the Switch as well.
The adapter is available from Amazon for $20.
Edit - This usually gets asked everytime so let me preemptively say No,Third Party Controllers do not support Amiibo.
For XBox controllers, you can get a single for $25-30 that uses 2.4 GHz and the same protocols that the Xbox uses. Also enables things like the audio pretty on the controller. Xbox controllers are not b bluetooh only, that's just the fallback.
The article does not go into detail. Seems like all he did is plugging it into an adapter. The adapter he used is the Mayflash MagicNS adapter. 8bitdo also offers such an adapter, however that is strictly wireless.
It's cool to see that he used an adapter for the adaptive controller on the Switch but at the end of the day it's all that he did. Nothing new in this regard.
There's a few but this is the one I have.
Looking into it now the Steam Controller is apparently one of the only controllers that doesn't work with it - because the Steam Controller doesn't have Bluetooth + blocks it from working in wired mode apparently.
But the adapter works with:
I have only really used it with the Switch, but it works with the PC + PS3 as well which is neat. I usually used an XB1 gamepad or DualShock 4 and it worked perfectly with both. I eventually bought a Switch Pro controller though.
amFilm has great tempered glass screen protectors that you can get pretty cheap on Amazon:
You'll definitely want to apply it yourself though, as it's very tricky (I've even screwed it up a few times myself).
This one works on all consoles and all controllers and is wireless and quite awesome
I would not trust something that comes with mods. That sounds like you would be banned instantly
Not to knock on your post, but the amFilm I have has been great for much less, and it's a 2-pack. I'm still using my first application. $7.99 right now:

I had two different pairs of left joycons drift on me.
Finally said fuck it and bought a $20 adaptor that lets me use my PS4 DualShock controller on my Switch. I’ve had that thing since the PS4 launched and have had zero issues with it. Switch just sees it as a Switch Pro controller. Works brilliantly, even wireless, rumble, and gyro.

I got the $12 official stand by Hori shortly after launch and it has served me incredibly well. Gets it up off the table a bit so you can charge while you play, and collapses when not in use so it takes almost no space on a desk or in a bag. My favorite Switch accessory by far.

You can buy it on Amazon JPN (if you make an account). I placed a pre-order when they were announced (back in Sep). Literally just came in 10 mins ago. Shipping is faster than Amazon US, for me at least.
Even with shipping this was cheaper than me going to a store and buying it for retail.
Best glass protector out there, IMO. Had it on since launch and I haven't worried about it since.
Pro controller is worth it, often times I would just dock my switch because I hated playing with the joycons. Solid controller that has an amazing battery life, just wish they made pro joycon controllers so that the grips or hori split pad pro weren't necessary. Also people have reported that these controllers suffer from drift, the lack of headphone jack means you'll be going with Tv audio for the most part. A great and cheaper alternative to the pro controller is the mayflash adapter which lets you use your ps4/xbox/wii u pro controller wirelessly.
The adapter shown here that the Adaptive Controller is connecting to is the Mayflash Magic NS Wireless Controller Adapter for Nintendo Switch. I currently use to connect my regular Xbox controller to the Switch for Super Mario Odyssey where it works flawlessly, and I plan to do so again for Smash. I highly recommend it!

Well since no one seems interested in answering the question and instead wants to criticize your life choices, I'll quickly go through a few things you may want to consider.
That's all I can think of for now. Feel free to ask me if you got any questions.
It's the Xbox wireless adapter for Windows. Unfortunately the Elite controller, for all its features, does not support a Bluetooth connection (there are newer Xbox controllers that do and a new version is in the works that supports it). The play and charge kit does come with a really long cable so if the controller dies, I can plug it in and continue to charge it while playing.
Get a screen protector, the switch needs it. I recommend the amfilm ones on amazon, link to it. That comes with 2 screen protectors and all the tools you need to put it on for $7.99.
If you're the type of person that has trouble keeping his/her phone screen free from scratches, like me, I recommend getting a screen protector. Someone else on this sub recommended a tempered glass protector for the switch by amFilm and has great reviews so far.
Edit: Here is the amazon link.
Not OP, but I’ve had this one on my Switch since launch. It’s amazing. Looks great, like it’s part of the Switch, feels great, doesn’t impact screen quality at all, if I ever get a fingerprint or smudge on it, it cleans easily. And no bubbling or anything. A 2 pack on Amazon is $9. I tell everyone who asks about a switch screen protector to get his one. I’ve seen several others - including Hori - in person, and amFilm is the best. And I swear I’m not a paid spokesperson ;)

Yup, like the phone ones indeed. This is one of the most popular ones online
EDIT: Finally managed to write the link without the automod censoring me lol
Get an 8bitdo wireless adapter! I actually just picked one up for other games and I have been using my ps4 controller on the switch. Sadly I think your biggest problem will be that let’s go doesn’t support pro controllers and only uses the buttons to throw the ball in handheld mode.
Here it is on amazon though i have seen it around other places!
Get a screen protector. it doesn't matter if you don't use one on other devices because you're careful. Get a screen protector. The Switch has a soft screen, meaning it's less likely to break on a fall, but can scratch easily. Even the dock can scratch it.
We recommend this screen protector.
As a parent, I would strongly recommended you put a screen protector on the Switch, if you haven't already. This is the one we used: amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2017 (2-Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HU6TBbTDCBN4C
Yeah, the kickstand is extremely clunky, I rarely ever use it. Your best bet would be to buy the HORI Playstand on amazon, here's the link:

I've heard pretty good things about it.
You don't even need a hacked switch I use this MAYFLASH MAGIC-NS Wireless... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079B5KHWQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Wirelessly connect your PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch Pro, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, Wii U Pro, and Xbox One S Bluetooth Controllers to your Nintendo Switch, PS3 or PC system. The wired PS4, PS3, Nintendo Switch Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox 360 Controllers and fight sticks, and standard wired USB Controllers like Logitech rumble gamepad F510 and F310 can be connected to your Nintendo Switch, PS3 and PC system. it also supports NEOGEO mini. Plug and play.

Not sure which type you used. I suck at putting on screens. This glass one was super easy to install with no bubbles and it feels much nicer than the plastic ones in my opinion.
It's the wireless mayflash Magic-ms.
I got mine off Amazon but there are a few places you can order it from.
It's just an wireless adapter that allows you to connect an Xbox or Playstation wireless controllers to the switch through the dock. The switch will see it as a "pro controller without motion controls". (also works for PC) you can set it so the button layout is the same physical position as the switch (AB and XY are flipped on the Xbox controller vs the switch's layout) or flip it so they match the button layout on the controller to be less confusing)
I highly recommend the amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector.
Currently on Amazon for under $10 does not bubble and comes with a backup. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ynbWBb92ZH9GW
