pro tip for the contact paper (i did my counters with this stuff), use windex while applying it and squeegee the excess out from underneath. you might think it's not sticking because it's wet, but once you squeegee it out, it definitely sticks. the edges are a bit difficult to get down if they're wet, so just give them a few to dry off and then wrap around the edge. the windex helps get any bubbles out from underneath, and makes the overall process WAY easier. if you do have a bubble or two after, you can use a super small pin/knife to cut a small hole to let the air out.
I am indeed UK, and I might even have a tester of Egyptian Cotton from picking my living room paint!
I actually found it on a Buzzfeed article! It was in the background of a listicle point flogging something else, so I did some searching, leading me to Home Depot, and then Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/Novogratz-CO472-Constellations-Removable-Wallpaper/dp/B07CJSZWFB It's self adhesive, and with the complexity of the pattern, I'm thinking getting a pro in is better than me trying to muddle my way through it!

I personally would put some chalk or spackle in that there hole and sand it a bit when dry (of using spackle)
Then cover the whole counter top with a nice contract paper. Land lord will be none the wiser.
amazon contact paper for kitchen
You can get different colors
Contact paper would work nicely as well, sticks on and is slightly pricier $5-15 for a wrapping paper-sized roll. I’ve used it on cardboard surfaces before and it works great!
I've got white pebble speakers, a white tesoro gram spectrum se, a white logitech G203, white marble contact paper on my desk, and just a plain black cheapo mouse pad from office depot lol
I feel like a white one would get dirty too fast
All custom, I used this Vinyl from amazon: Distressed Wood Wallpaper Rustic Wood Contact Paper Wood Grain Reclaimed Wood Wallpaper Stick and Peel Self Adhesive Wallpaper Removable Contact Paper Wood Look Wallpaper Roll Brown 78.7”x17.7" - - Amazon.com
I have used it on quite a few internal parts plus some outside on the case as accents.
Not that I know of, it's a paint so unless you have the skills to do that, it's going to be hard to get that from wood.
You could go to your local hardware store and purchase the touch paint wrap. The issue being working your angles. If you don't mind the edges being white, it's super easy to trim this wrap to the panels.

Yeah i cutted it and since the bottom was now the side and there was those openings I bought some plastic wood sticking paper https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00755CBY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_B7qxFbGX9VJZF
Reinforced the structure, painted, added legs et voila!
Link to my initial post.
Wanted to update everyone that gave me input. My goal was to keep the original cabinetry that was made by hand by a prior owner, unfortunately they were made of OSB. I wanted to make them look smoother and freshen up the space. I did 2 coats PPG Seal Grip primer on each cabinet door, then I ended up using Wallpaper Liner, it worked very well and was easy to work with, highly recommend!
Ultimately I'm very pleased with how this came out!
Paint colors are all Behr: Bitter Sage, Creamy Mushroom, and Polar Bear
Total cost was around $275.
A better alternative could be vinyl sheets. They come in a variety of colors and designs, are self adhesive, are waterproof, and will give a more professional uniform look. Vinyl sheets
This is pretty unorthodox, but I used this marble stick on sheet plus some clipped sprue bits painted grey-white to simulate broken bricks in a church.
This changed my life. Scour and then dampen the wall and wallpaper falls away.
So I literally just did my bathroom remodel DIY on a budget - and I primed then painted the tile floors “wrought iron” by Benjamin Moore which is a dark gray/almost black and did the contact paper for the countertop. Massive improvement for very little money.

For the countertop
There's a thing you can get, a wallpaper scourer or something which you run over the paper a few times and it makes a bunch of holes. Used this on similar paper which was effectively sealed by paint then sprayed water / soap on it to work on the paste and it came off a dream.
This is it

this pattern is even more beautiful in person.
A tiny little and easy improvement you could make is adding som vinyl film on the sides (even cheaper is just to use som craft paper and tape). Covering the sides on a glass enclosure can do quite a bit to help reptiles fell more comfortable.
Wallpaper perforator and steam. Something like this worked for me. Coral 65300 Wallpaper Orbital Scorer/Perforator, Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015XPWQUI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_CNXQ3AGDCVE42MNC4Z1B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Method used to create the bases:
Paint the base Retributor Armour
Cut plastic poster ( https://www.michaels.com/white-plastic-poster-board-by-creatology/10378146.html ) into workable sheets
Cut marble contact paper ( https://www.amazon.com/countertop-Furniture-renovated-Waterproof-practicalWs/dp/B0777NMVC3/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=AQF2CIL94J5V&dchild=1&keywords=marble+contact+paper&qid=1633031624&sprefix=marble&sr=8-3 ) into the same size workable sheet as the poster board and apply it to the poster board, making sure to get all the air bubbles out.
Measure out what size you want your tiles to be on the non marble side. I used 3/4in but feel free to make bigger to allow for more variety in tile placement.
Cut out the tiles and glue them down to the base in the pattern you want. I left a small gap so that the gold underneath comes through and looks like grout.
Use scissors and a hobby knife to trim the edges to make them uniform with the base.
I applied some Agrax Earthshade to the gold recess to try and add some more detail to the gold.
Overall I am very happy with how they turned out and how much time and effort was saved for getting my pre-heresy TS started!
My handyman skills are nonexistent, but I would try to sand it smooth it down and apply some kind of contact paper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777LR4ZX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_ZRNP9GXF02VEGVWDP1QV
I believe it's this, according to the reviews, they also used it to cover wood panels after filling the seams, pretty much wallpaper.
Well in that case, I would just cover it with marble contact paper...
I DO know that there is regular contact paper that you get in the market and there is thicker stuff....I would read various Amazon reviews and see if anyone can vouch for sturdiness..Also if they're the same size from different manufacturers, you could compare by weight...
I mean you haven't lost much if it doesn't work, right?
I bought some of this off amazon, not as intricate or cool as others but a very quick, cheap, nice effect

I'll post a picture of one of mine in a sec
here ya go
same thing happened to a white desk that i haven't had for long (not from Ikea). peeling on the top though. anyway, i did search for solutions & found many ikea hacks with this kind of paper, check out pinterest or just google ikea alex drawer hacks...they look amazing. here is a link for an example of the paper i bought, cheap too....hope this helps....https://www.amazon.com/countertop-Furniture-renovated-Waterproof-practicalWs/dp/B0777NMVC3/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=contact+paper&qid=1608243311&sr=8-3
I got this Black Wood Self-Adhesive Paper Film from Amazon. I used a total of 2 rolls, but I only did the top, front, and right side. The left side is still the original light brown wood because it's facing the corner and I ran out lol :)
If you're doing it, also get the X-acto knife and a flexible smoothing tool as shown in the 'frequently bought together'. There's a learning curve but with some patience, you'll love the results. Best thing is if I want to change it back to the original wood look, I just peel off the big stickers lol

Thanks! It actually looks really good in person. When I got the wallpaper my wife was like ew lol I admit i got a little worried too but once it was on it took on a whole different look.
It was super easy to do. Here is the link for the wallpaper and the tools I used. Just make sure you clean the top first. Then apply the wallpaper nice and slow smoothing it out bit by bit. It’s cheap and gives the desk a total new look.
Sure here are some of the pics of how it turned out. https://imgur.com/a/poB7lnP
I used a marble contact sheet that I had lying around and went well with my other accessories.
You can pick any color and just wrap the top part of the black housing . You do have to open up the case take out that black linker and wrap it out. It looks much cleaner now .
