Amazon has it back in stock right now
~~EDIT: ONLY 4 LEFT AS OF 12:41 EST!~~
edit 2: They are gone. Restock next Thursday apparently
EVERYONE that can should just order thru Amazon. Great customer support and return policy. SCREW HTC ! https://www.amazon.com/HTC-VIVE-Virtual-Reality-System-Pc/dp/B00VF5NT4I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474322657&sr=8-1&keywords=vive
You may be surprised but the third party straps have way more durability and better feel than the elite one. For example I got this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YR8LFH3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_K9BG0XSC2X6BM8E5Z2NG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and it’s amazing. No more pressure on my face and it feels so comfortable and high quality that even the $100 DAS feels less comfort than this one.
Or you could, y'know, just go to Amazon and check the price for the Vive in USD ... which is gasp $799 USD!
There's literally 0 point in warping the math by starting with the already-marked-up-due-to-import-fees UK Vive and porting that dollar amount over to USD when the product can be purchased outright from a US retailer without converting a thing.
I’m new to VR with my Rift S but I bought a cable pulley system. It comes with hooks or sticky hooks and you can hang them on the ceiling and behind you some. I have mine set up to be behind me a bit and I have free motion in my entire playspace without feeling the cable much at all. It’s designed really well and highly recommended.
This is the one I got from Amazon, Kiwi branded.
[Pro Version] KIWI design VR Cable Management, 6 Packs Retractable Ceiling Pulley System for HTC Vive/HTC Vive Pro/Oculus Rift S/PS VR/Microsoft MR/Samsung Odyssey VR Accessories (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VQZYN3M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_e9LgFbWR23QM9
Welp lets roll the dice how about an HTC Vive
Looks to be about 799.99 on amazon.
Congrats on making bank OP!
Most people lately have been recommending the BoboVR M2 halo strap, which is a newer strap distinguished by two "arms" that provide additional support on top of your head. I have it and find it comfy after some adjusting, and nicer looking.

I could be wrong but what you shared looks like the older, more generic halo strap that gets rebranded by various companies. Either one should be a vast improvement over the stock strap. (Still recommend attaching a power bank/counterweight to back)
There’s a lot of stress on those small parts. I found a halo strap as a replacement that’s more robust as well as more affordable and comfortable. It eliminates the face squeeze. The headset attaches to the halo via firm but adjustable hinges, which allows one to rock, press, and hold the Oculus headset firmly into one’s face, improving the chance of staying in the sweet spot even with vigorous play.
Best I can tell there are several “labels” that seem to be the same design (and maybe even manufacturer) - pretty typical for generic Chinese products like this. Here are two examples of many:
Also there are dozens of reviews on YouTube, just search “quest 2 halo strap”. The only minor complaint I have heard (beyond a bit fiddle to fit) is it’s a bit closer to your face when tightened so if you have a huge IPD you may see the edges of the LCD. My IPD is average and I didn’t notice it...
A pulley system would solve this issue. I use one for my link cable and it's a game changer. Feels fully wireless even over link. This is what I have:

!!!!!
Same for the Rift S page on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PTMKYS7

I checked the Amazon page DAILY for the Rift S and it pops up everytime. It's probably down as it's being updated , hopefully we get a launch tomorrow !
The product page originally said HDMI. I preordered in April and it said HDMI and NOTHING about a DisplayPort. The Amazon UK description STILL says HDMI.
Definitely get these grips. Pop out the default hand lanyards too though, they get in the way once these grips are clipped on. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07X117LPR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Rechargeable batteries are a must for your controllers.
Another tip, check humble bundle for vr deals. I got loads of vr games on the cheap that way.
Mine broke a 2nd time a few days ago. Rather then put in a ticket, waiting and get a third cheaply made replacement I bought this halo strap from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LGSFQYR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
It is more comfortable, cheaper and made with better material then the junk Occulus makes.
BOBOVR M2 Head Strap for Oculus Quest 2,Replacement for Elite Strap,Reduce Face Pressure Comfortable Touch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YR8LFH3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CGPTJ8RGTY2RX74VZ0K9
Your can get it cheaper from aliexpress if you don't mind waiting.
DAS is another strap type but costs over $100 and Still pushes on your face
Please dont sand your controlers lmfao. i play on quest 2 and got these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X117LPR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_DNZ3AXRM6GNZ63J75Z48?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I find them really helpful for echo, i can let my fingers go alot more so i feel like im actually throwing something.
Get a halo-style replacement. Mine arrived yesterday and it has significantly increased my comfort and ability to keep the Oculus in the right place.
Most people seem to really like the halo strap so I'd say they're worth it. You can buy them in the $20 range off aliexpress though the delivery time is a month or two.
I bought mine off amazon. It was more expensive but I had it here in two days. Also, if I didn't like it I could return it easily.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LGSFQYR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
There is also an upgraded version that's a little more expensive. I saw in a video where the part added to the rear is soft (adds no stability) and not really worth it so I went with the normal one and am very happy with it.
I believe these are those ceiling cables you mentioned, and yes I definitely recommend them. I use them for my setup and it's so much better than dragging a cable on the floor. Although, you want be able to spin forever, since the cables will still get twisted, but you won't trip yourself by spinning so it's still a huge improvement. The space is definitely big enough, 3 basestations would definitely be best, but you could get away with 2. Other than that I think your good.
And just to let you know, Vive is announcing a couple of headsets in may, so if you haven't already purchased your index, I'd say keep an eye out for a new release just in case. And maybe once the Deca Air comes out, you could see if it's compatible with whatever headset you get. (Deca Air is an upcoming wireless adapter for an upcoming headset called the DecaGear 1) For the time being though, what you have planned is about as good as it gets.
Bought this shipped from Amazon for $36.50. Original estimate was Dec. 11 but I guess the shipping container from China came in early, now arriving Dec 1. If you're willing to wait, it'll be in stock sold cheaper from Amazon. The amazon return policy is too good for something as finicky as a headstrap.

It looks like Amazon is out of stock and is showing a third-party seller in the search instead.
The Amazon offer says 1 to 3 weeks before it ships. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VF5NT4I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Just a heads up to anyone that somehow didn't see the multiple posts. The HTC Vive is $100 off for this weekend. I personally just got it on Amazon, as Newegg didn't have it (almost $50 in taxes :/)
right from amazon https://www.amazon.com/HTC-VIVE-Virtual-Reality-System-Pc/dp/B00VF5NT4I even better deal at MS store you get $100 gift card
A LOT of sales on the Amazon Marketplace are scams. Don't buy it from Amazon Marketplace, only directly from Amazon.
HTC VIVE isn't available on UK Amazon.
Just preordered mine on Amazon. Estimated delivery: May 22, 2019.

The product page originally said HDMI. I preordered in April and it said HDMI and NOTHING about a DisplayPort. The Amazon UK description STILL says HDMI.
That isn't my problem though because I have the ports. It is a failure on Oculus/Facebook.
The product page originally said HDMI. I preordered in April and it said HDMI and NOTHING about a DisplayPort. The Amazon UK description STILL says HDMI.
I updated my reply with proof. Here's a link to Amazon UK so you can verify. I think the 1 stars on Amazon are justified considering this screw up.
I enthusiastically second that. I bought the KIWI system for $30 and months later I'm still very happy with it. I used the included adhesive mounts, since it's in a garage where I don't care about the paint, and it's holding perfectly.
After getting the tension right with the recommended three-point installation, I don't really feel it pull at all unless I go way out to the corner of the space. If I turn completely around many times it can cause some tension from the twisted cable, but that occasional issue is way better than having the cables at my feet all the time.
I have an Index and didn't need extension cables with the computer being right up against the tracking area, which is about half of a two car garage. The computer is near the middle of one of the longer sides, so it's as close to the center as possible while being outside the volume.
