Sure. I'm pretty sure I have the large one. I can fit about a cup's worth of his kibble in it. Sometimes I'll add some cheese cubes in the mix to keep him interested also.
I highly recommend one of these. We have been using them for 5 years and set them to go at around 2 am. It seems to be the optimal time, and it makes almost no noise! Plus the cats can’t figure out how to get into it.

I have one. Clean it every 2-4 weeks, refill it every few days and you're golden. My cats love it. Also healthier for them since they drink more water.
Cats don't like their water to be next to their food or to be stagnate for too long.
Something like this might help: PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum Cat and Dog Water Fountain, Pet Drinking Fountain with Carbon Filter, 168 oz. Water Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L3XYZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_00yECb608FBCE
Although if they've gotten in the habit of drinking from your glass it's very hard to break.
I got one of those roller balls for my fat cat, set to the smallest hole size. Means she had to kick it around a bit to get each piece, which really slows her down
Will you have a yard? I don't have this issue, but I do have two fearful dogs. When I moved I brought them to the house a couple of times before anything was moved in to let them run around and explore. It was just an empty place to them. It didn't have the typical emotional attachments, it was just play. Maybe doing something like that introduces the space as neutral ground. Not sure it will work or stick, but might be worth a shot if you think it would be safe.
I have plenty of friends who need to separate their dogs. We call it living in a gated community. They use x-pens to keep them in the same room but separated. Either by setting it up as a play are or for dividing a room.

This is the cage I got for mine. It's a little pricey but it's great quality, metal and solid. Also very easy to assemble and clean with the way both doors on each level open up. https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Critter-162-leak-Proof-Measures/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=bmx_i2814f1n_1/138-9088593-0936157?pd_rd_w=ZikYz&pf_rd_p=1f75fbb3-7d95-464f-8182-952155c0316b&pf_rd_r=VXJZYWA78JHW8B6CVGBD&pd_rd_r=fa9b4324-5134-4fec-96c8...
Boy or girl? Or maybe both? I'm a girl. Can confirm hair everywhere. No idea how or where it comes from. I bought a rubber carpet broom.
We use this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GEWHNS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Pros: doesn't jam, hides 4 meals so it lasts us 2 days when filled, clock etc. are pretty good, they haven't figured out how to break in.
Cons: the cats haven't disconnected us from the act of the food rotating so they think they need to tell us when it's almost food time.
Whaaaat!? I've never seen those and now I want one! opens amazon
Edit: I ordered this one!!! It even doubles as a squeegee!! I'm so excited lol thanks, OP! It's going to be amazing on my wood stairs AND carpet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EFDOOA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_8bPIybBK6B24R
I had a chunky foster who would scarf her food then cry for more. For hours.
I started feeding her out of this $8 tricky treat ball from Amazon & it worked so well. She enjoyed the play aspect (and it kept her moving!), and it slowed her down so much that she'd frequently feel full and come back to chill with me when there was still a little food left.
This is about using the two week shut down to help dogs deal with a huge life changing event.
http://www.bigdogsbighearts.com/2_week_shutdown0001.pdf
I wish I would have used it with my boys. One didn't leave my kitchen for 6 months and didn't go into the family room for almost a year. Didn't go outside for a year and a half. I realize now that in the first couple of weeks he was trying to adjust and I was trying to get him to act like a normal dog. Respect that they all deal with stress in different ways and give him time to work at his own speed. I used a crate and x-pen to give him his own space after I finally caught on that he needed more time.
https://smile.amazon.com/MidWest-Foldable-Exercise-Pen-Playpen/dp/B000H8YTJI
Right now he is laying on the back of the sofa looking for belly rubs.
Seriously, this is the most inhumane and dumb shit someone could do.
I adopted a pair earlier this year and the guy who sold them to me had them in this tiny little cage that could maybe fit one for a short weekend trip.
First thing I did when I got home was ordering a giant cage off amazon. (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00176F5L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_QxfjCb9X61SPW)
For the time they were in the tiny cage until the new one arrived, they wouldn't move much and looked miserable and angry.
Now they are active and have tons of room to fly around in their cage and look much happier than when I got them.
Copying from above. We use this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GEWHNS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I would say a cage like this is strongly recommended for happy lovebirds, unless you’re letting them free roam your house a few hours a day and the cage is for sleeping only.
Can I make a suggestion? I put my cat on a diet last year after we found out he is overweight. After that he started doing exactly what your cat was doing. On Amazon I found a cat meal ball that you put the cat food in, and adjust the amount that comes out and then the cat has to work to get the food out. It has saved our lives! No more 4 am whining, no more sitting by the bowl crying. It allows him to eat slower so he realizes he doesn’t need to eat everything right away.
Here is the link: PetSafe SlimCat Meal Dispensing Cat Toy, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018CG40O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_porBAb6V2Q0VF
We got ours as a gift, and I couldn’t find the exact one, but this is from the same company and looks to be a new version of the same thing:
PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum or Platinum LED Pet Fountains, Best for Cats and Small to Medium Dogs, Fresh Filtered Water Dispenser, LED Light for Nighttime Visibility, 168 Oz Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L3XYZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_26DQBCRT2XJT5P5DFBXV
Wow aha. This sounds like my corgi puppy (female) a few weeks ago to a tee. She is now 15 weeks old.

I know you already know what I am going to say, but the little habits will fall away pretty quickly as he gets used to his new surroundings! At least it happened that way for me!

For the zero chill, I started forced nap times every 2 hours. She mellowed out pretty hard after that. They don't know how to self-regulate their sleep and a lot of the bratty behaviour is because they're overtired and overstimulated!

The eating of everything seems to be a common tread as well.. unfortunately that one hasn't gone away for me yet - I hold her leash REALLY tight (or even her collar) while I pick up her poo to make sure she doesn't eat it - gross. Apparently they grow out of this .. still waiting. Also, snails have become the new best thing to eat.. ugh.

As for the nipping, I found that yelling "OW!" really shrill and sharp, then storming away and closing the door behind me was super effective (and honestly kind of fun). My corgi is an attention fiend, so she learned pretty quick that nipping results in a loss of attention and play time.

Lastly, my corgi pup did the EXACT same thing with her kibble.. I tried soaking it in broth, even that got boring. So, I got her a treat dispensing toy and I load up her entire meal into it, she now LOVES her kibble. Corgis love a challenge, they're smart dogs. Maybe give that a try? It's a $10 investment on Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/Omega-Paw-Tricky-Treat-Orange/dp/B0002DK26M/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=omega%2Bpaw%2Bball&qid=1552483475&s=gateway&sr=8-1&th=1)

Best of luck! And don't hesitate to message me with any corgi puppy problems!
They do make "official" versions of these if he ever gets destructive with the container! We have this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Omega-Paw-Tricky-Treat-Orange/dp/B0002DK26M
He doesn't destructo chew it, even though he has gnawed on a couple hard plastic versions and is a strong chewer, but he loves to push it around and takes a while to empty
Yes!! This!! I do this with my dog and she loves it
https://www.bindisbucketlist.com. This has a lot of information on different types of stimulation.
I also really like this ball treat dispenser. Keeps my dog busy for forever. https://www.amazon.ca/Omega-Paw-Tricky-Treat-Orange/dp/B0002DK26M
Also, last but not least, hide treats around the house and have your dog sniff them out and find them!
If you do a combo of wet and dry food, they also make one like this. you have to fill it every day, but its easier than multiple times a day. https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-5-Meal-Automatic-Dispenses-Digital/dp/B000GEWHNS/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=automatic+cat+feeder+wet+food&qid=1622238090&sr=8-10
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EFDOOA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_1E0DT6MHEPHJSBJ7HXGB Smaller handheld versions of this are available as well; I use them for detailing cars as in cars that have had furry friends often.
It looks like the Feisty Ferret cage. It's about half the size of a double unit Critter Nation but it's still great for up to 5 or 6 rats.
The bar spacing is 7/8" though. Young rats and even smaller adult females will be able to escape unless the cage is covered with 1/2" hardware cloth. Covering the cage with hardware cloth could end up doubling the price of this cage, it's a fair amount of work, and it may make the cage more difficult to clean.
We have this cage or one very similar: Midwest Deluxe Critter Nation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1RNV3Y1703XVM2TSN8EF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The pans avoid the issues of bumblefoot but we still pad it out with fleece. Our rats chew through the fleece so we end up buying more pretty regularly but it’s plenty of space for our 4 rattos :)
A 2 story critter nation should be plenty. You can officially add a 3rd story no problem if 2 isn't enough. Or connect 2 or more side by side.
A 2 story CN Cage is ~$250.
Edit: Apparently they've gone up a bit ($300) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_6GMW5HA8MRT2V5G6NR41
Hopefully your local shippers aren't trash and kick yours off the back of the truck....
Not OP, but for my cat I use an automatic feeder (one of the ones with 5 compartments where only one is exposed at a time - this one specifically(Amazon link)) and split one can of wet food into four portions across a whole day, so he eats every 6 hours. When reloading it, I make sure to take a little bit from the first portion and put it in the compartment that will be immediately exposed to get him off my back (since he comes to beg when I open the can). Also if he gets hungry early, or if he throws up and will have to wait with an empty stomach for a long time, I split the next portion and give him 1/3 to 1/2 of it immediately and that will tide him over until it cycles again.
It took a little while for him to get used to the schedule, but after a while he got used to the amount and the timing and seems to be content without being overfed. I still get suckered into giving him treats though, so he's a tiny bit overweight, but otherwise I'm happy with the solution.
yup that makes tons of sense i was just to excited to think lol why i posted here. im getting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DAY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_13EWV2AKY1KJJF1HACY2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 now
I have a rubber broom like this one to sweep it into a pile, pick up the big pieces by hand, and vacuum the rest.
Yup. I used to have cats that I fed at 8am and 8pm. Pretty much every 6:30 the 'cat alarm' would go off. Sometimes, at 6:30am, I would stagger out of bed and shake the food ball which is how I fed the sweet, but greedy, asshole. Kibble would fall out, he would eat it and proceed to bat the ball around (and not howl) long enough for me to return to sleep.
I loved that dramatic asshole for his final 7 (of 18) years he owned me!
