I wanted a way to display the awesome steelbook art without taking up a lot of room. I looked at display racks, but they were expensive and bulky. Then I got to thinking about magnets. I did a quick test with a fridge magnet and sure enough the cases are magnetic! I went to amazon and bought these!
I bought thick sheet magnets that I cut to individual size from amazon. They hold great, super strong. I attach them to the perler with E-6000 adhesive (that stuff is strong, the magnets will not fall off) and it works like a charm. I think these are the ones I ordered ( [link] ).
MAC does it basically the opposite of most brands: the palettes are metal, the eyeshadows have magnets. Other brands have metal eyeshadows and magnetic palettes.
The inserts snap into the palettes. I I got one but took it out because you can fit more that way (I use my MAC palettes for blushes).
And you can use shadows from other brands in MAC palettes, you just have to put magnets on them. If you don't they won't stick. You could use tape like you mentioned but it wouldn't hold as strongly. If you have a craft type store there you should be able to get these magnetic sheets that you can cut to fit, and you just peel the backing off and stick them onto the shadow. You can get them on Amazon (or other places probably have them too) if you don't have any craft type stores. This is what they look like.
I actually used magnetic sheets.
They have an adhesive side but I just stapled them to the wall using a thin caliber staple gun. To be honest I even cut those sheets in half and spaced them about a few inches apart. They are surprisingly strong and could hold more than 1 steelbook easily with half a sheet.
I've been looking for shelves, Magnetic strips for tools, and finally saw the post with the gaming steelbooks and the OP provided a link to these sheets on Amazon.
I think you need to DIY
many years ago i found a wall mount for my ps3
it was literally just:
a thin (slightly flexible) magnet sheet
a thin metal sheet
i glued the magnet on the back of my ps3 and then i screwed the little metal sheet into the wall.
It's super simple. i dont think the brand even exists anymore
anyways, i think you can find these 2 things seperately somehow, and combined them into a wall mount
something like this:
and then some thin metal plate with a hole in each corner (get something that magnets work with!)
this of course means you've got stuff glued to the bottom of your console. so be wary which type of glue you use.
but it's super easy to take the playstation down from the wall though, if you need to.
Thank you. I use these magnetic sheets from Amazon [link]. Make sure you buying then from the Better Crafts seller when you purchase them. The package brings 10 sheets and I cut each one into 6 pieces and put a bit of superglue in the back of each piece before adhering it to the wall. They've been up on the wall for over 2 months and none of my steelbooks have fallen off.
Magnet sheets with adgesive on the back. Not good for the walls but ill be repainting if/when i move. I cut each sheet into 6 equal sized pices.

Yep! I bought these earlier this month. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The steelbooks stick securely but you can still easily remove them. After looking at my picture again, I think I need to straighten them haha
I suppose you could remove the packaging between the shades (after removing them). Then gluing down or using magnetic stickers. I think it would make a beautiful custom palette.
You could use these:
So far I've had luck with using squares I've cut from Adhesive Magnetized Sheets to hold plastic infantry to my metal-bottomed toolkit. I add a spot of white glue to help out the magnetic sheet adhesive.
That's no problem. They also make thin magnetic sheets so you can just place them on the wall, this is how im planning on hanging them. Here's the link on amazon if interested. [link]
I bought these magnetic sheets from amazon. One side has adhesive. If you have a lot of stickers, buy the 25 pack. I adhered full labels that are not pictured so i went through a pack of ten pretty quickly.
Get an exacto knife of some kind like this. Fyi the very tip of fine point blades like these break easily so buy backups. Even with the tip broken, they will still cut a ton of stuff until dull so don't worry.
If you dont have a table to cut on, buy a cutting mat like this as well.
Apply the labels to the magnetic sheets (with a squeegie that you use to apply screen protector to your phone is helpful), grab a beer, turn on some tunes and slowly trace cut out the labels. It's nice to turn off your brain and get creative. Hope this info helps. Holler if you have questions. Cheers!
I ordered our's off Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/10-Adhesive-Magnetic-Sheets-Magnet/dp/B004SOV4NQ/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_rp_c_2_1/143-0594437-5696456?pd_rd_w=VEZHC&pf_rd_p=37a21a7a-0580-4670-8f4a-5db866884074&pf_rd_r=YNGYZ7R31Q4TMP14K6AV&pd_rd_r=788658f0-3c19-4cd9-95d4-928aa99d9219&pd_rd_wg=aleCe&pd_rd_i=B004SOV4NQ&psc=1
Yep! These magnets specifically.
Good idea! The magnet sheets aren't too expensive though, but I get ya.
