I know what you are talking about BUT, if you see it again, I think you will see important differences. You are talking about what is sometimes called the Czech tool.
This likely what you are talking about, [link]
Most pipe smokers have at least one. I am a pipe smoker and can't think of anything else that comes close to looking like this lock tool.
I can certainly see why this little gizmo triggered that memory. It is made of the same sort of cheap steel with the same shine and about the same size. I have one of each of these tools. Look at it and try to see how you could use this lock tool to tamp the tobacco in a pipe. The shape is all wrong for cleaning the pipe bowl and there is no straight thin rod used to clean the hole between the bowl and the stem.
But it is easy to see how his pipe tool immediately came to mind. Memory is not recall, it is reconstruction. It fools us humans regularly. :)
That is why several people viewing the same event will have several versions of exactly what happened and will remember completely different details. It is closer to interpretation than to recall.
This is the tool I use and it's amazing. I constantly use all three attachments.
I use the pax loading tool from cannabis hardware as my scoop and find that it holds the perfect amount and keeps doses real consistent. Little pricey though - I probably wouldn’t have payed almost $20 for a scoop if it wasn’t in my cart with like $400 in vrod stuff, personally.
For the price, I love having this tool around. The scoop is a bit small so maybe not exactly what your looking for but the stir tool and tamper are perfect and it’s surprisingly high quality for 7$.
Maybe try something like this? [link]
I use this for a multitude of things. One end is good for packing down. Obviously a little shovel helps and a thin rod too.
Strongly suggest ordering the wear and tear repair kit, extra screens, and the 40ct capsule packets. I’ve been using my Mighty steadily for over a year and the only thing I wish I did differently was having the replacement parts on hand. When I went to buy them, they were sold out in a lot of places at good prices and had very long lead times to ship. The capsules are very thin, and while sturdy, will bend or warp easily over time. Same for the screens to the cooling chamber, thin and delicate enough to want to have extras on hand.
I would suggest finding a pipe tool to load the capsules. The flat part of this fits into the capsule to pack it down evenly, the scoop can hold a decent amount, and the pick is great at scraping the capsules clean.
And store more isopropyl than you think you’ll need. 70% will clean the cooling chamber quickly if you put it in shortly after use, but will need time to soak if it’s room temp, so get the highest % you’d an find for ease of cleaning.
A good scooper tool goes a long way. I personally hate filling my vape by hand and found a good scoop on amazon for cheap. The one I'm linking is good for packing it down and cleaning out the chamber as well. [link] Also any kind of small brush will do you well for cleaning out any sticky residue out
I wonder what that little tool they use for pressing the sand down is called. Would be neat to have a small one for pressing keif.
Edit: Oh, I'm an idiot. [link]
thanks, that is a good idea. I think a pipe tobacco tool like . this one will actually be perfect for me
I bought one about a month ago and its really nice not having sticky fingers from picking up bud anymore. Also means I'm not contaminating by but with dirty hands. Its also on Amazon 100% Authentic Czech Pipe Tool - Tobacco Pipe Reamer Tamper Pokers Tool [link]
You can get iso from any drug store, people usually use 91% on glass, I use 70% or less on my wood, rinse well. You can get the tools at a smoke shop, or amazon, I usually use one like this.
They have made for wood pipes.
Had a slight new factory smell but once session at max temp with top off cleaned it out pretty well.
Don't use while fast charging. This will start to degrade the battery pretty fast and that's no bueno, if anything use the micro usb, but just pop it in charger 5-10 Mims and then use that'll charge it enough for a sesh.
I'd highly recommend getting the WPA if you have any bongs laying around it makes it rip even smoother
Some pure convection vapes benefit significantly from a micro-grinder, the cfx it isn't one that needs it but it helps a little. The hybrid heating means you can pop small nugs in almost lol.
Filling takes a couple bowls to master, they have an attachment to make it easier but I haven't tied it. I found pre grinding up like 4g and using a small scoop (what I got) to pack it helps. Don't need to over pack or compress.
Amazon link for said tool. For anyone that needs/wants it.
I have this and love it.
Pipe tool my dude.
I highly recommend a pipe tool. Tobacco Pipe Reamer Tamper Pokers Tool by World Pride [link]

I know it's fun but at the end of the day this LEGO shovel is plastic. Let's keep it sustainable .
as a pipe smoker and former stoner, there is only one answer: czech tool
Has anyone tried one these? I swear by it.
I've had mine for almost 50 years...
[link] that’s why you get something like this. This tool has changed my life.
It bears a lot of resemblance to 3-in-1 pipe tools.
The tobacco pipe tool is fantastic with ditanium and elev8r bowls. Basically any wide and deep bowl. I use mine all the time.
It’s a Czech pipe tool and it’s amazing!!! buy two!! 100% Authentic Czech Pipe Tool - Tobacco Pipe Reamer Tamper Pokers Tool [link]
Damn that's an expensive spoon.
Here's what I use for under $7 and it has a tamp and poker too
behold, the mighty pipe tool
By far my favorite vape for solo use that I've experienced. I love being able to take casual hits from the whip while sitting at my desk, or quickly knocking out a bowl through a water piece.
Here's a few replacement parts/accessories on amazon that I've found. Much cheaper than buying direct from the ditanium website:
Stir/Pack Tool - This thing works so perfectly for the ditanium glass handpiece (haven't used it with a titanium handpiece). Has a scoop, rod for stirring, and a tamper that perfectly fits the bowl.
Replacement Tubing - Any silicone tubing with 5/16" ID, 7/16" OD should work
Replacement Screens (Glass Handpiece, Titanium Handpiece) - I've never actually had to replace my screen. I always just pop it out and clean with iso. Ditanium's website has these at 10/$5 though so this is much better value if you replace screens often.
Pretty much this. You'll never use the coke spoon unless well, you need a coke spoon. I guess you could use it to help clear the dead bowl, but honestly swirling the little rod does the same thing, I never used the spoon except for when I first got it, and tried to use it and found it wasn't worth it.
The other two tools are great though.
This was at the bottom of the page, and while I never had one of these, I definitely can see how the little knife scraper beats the coke spoon.

Reamer/tamper/poker for under $5.
Here is a nice $20 silicone ashtray with slots for tools, and a bump in the middle to knock ash out of the bowl.
These are pretty awesome too
Those little pipe tools have a scoop
