Fun fact: the first thing that made little 16-year-old me go "Wait, what if feminism is bullshit?" was an "essay" in this book in which some bratty woman whines about how "all over the world, men are telling women to smile", like it's some kind of epidemic that proves just how entitles men think they are to women's bodies. And I was just like "Wait, is this what we're talking about now? Is this one of the issues? Aren't there women being stoned to death in some parts of the world?"
Since then (a full decade), all of 3 people have told me to smile, one of whom was a woman. And that was the most annoying instance, because I was at my shitty minimum wage job, not free wheelin' around town or the school library like the other times.
