Well, at one time I would've recommended the SteelSeries H (I paid $300 but it looks like they're on sale, at least for me) wireless headphones but my Transmitter/Receiver has gone bad after 1.5 years and dealing with their support team has been a test to say the least. My initial inquiry was about straight up buying a new one from them and yet they still treated me like a thief the throughout the entire grueling process.
I've got an RMA now and, perhaps if I get a new pair after all of this I might feel better about the entire thing but as of now, meh.
They sound great though.
Other than that, go with the Sony Gold Wireless, not sure if they're 7.1 or not but for $100 they really cannot be beat, IMO.
I too thought it was annoying, and often have people over who want to try the Vive. Not everybody, including myself, is keen on sharing those in-ear headphones.
Also, my regular pc headphones (Steelseries Siberia 200) had become a little dinged-up from everyday usage.
That's why a couple of months ago I decided too buy a proper wireless headset. After some research I decided to go for the Steelseries 800.
They are lag-free, come with an extra battery that charges in the base station so you can just swap, they fit very tight yet are very comfortable (much nore comfortable than the 200 series imo) so they are definitely great for VR. I use them for at least five hours a day.
And last but not least, the audio is great. The base station has an equaliser but really the 'immersive' setting is all you will need for gaming.
Well worth the money!
You gotta get some wireless headphones. I have a pair and listen to PKA while wandering around my house doing laundry/making food. It's great. This is the pair I have, their expensive but I've had the same pair for 4 years now.
Turns out when I bought them they were $300. Still worth it.
Man for 80 bucks, that might be tough. I have...[link]
But if you want all those things I think you might have to spend some more money than 80 bucks. I bought three headsets for about that price range and they all sucked, especially wireless ones so I just bought that steelseries and I haven't been disappointed.
I got the Steelseries Siberia wireless headset for $199 during black friday and I love it. There is zero latency whatsoever, its comfortable, has a built in mic that you can stow within the headset and mute with a button press (which is nice since its tough to mute the vive mic), comes with 2 batteries and a charging dock station so you can easily swap out one battery when the other dies and never run out of battery life. Legit headset, really happy I got it. I yanked my cord headphones out way too many times before I went wireless.
Hey man, I see a lot of hate for your work here. I just wanna say thanks. I am not a Audiophile like yourself. So what I do have to say is I made a choice in my headset because of the other features I needed, mostly the choice of wireless. I did put my money into a very nice set of wireless headphones that have a audio mixer the Siberia 800.(I also worked at a computer store so I didn't pay anywhere close to retail for them) I also have a very nice Blue Yeti desktop mic for my voice audio solution. I can see your point but it isn't always for everyone. Also stay strong through the hate a lot of people on this sub are just children after all.
Wireless was super important to me so I got these:
SteelSeries Siberia 800 Wireless Gaming Headset with Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound for PC/Mac PS3/4 Xbox 360 and Apple TV (Formerly H Wireless) [link]
They are really nice and I feel great every time I put them on.
I was recently looking at the Siberia 800 from Steelseries, which looked pretty good and had pretty decent reviews from critics.
EDIT: Might be a bit on the pricey side though.
> steelseries arctis 7
Ok, These are the ones I had and I'm pretty sure they have separate chat/game volumes...
If you're willing to put out some serious money, I'd say the SteelSeries Siberia 800 can't be beat.
That specific link goes to the generic 800, but there's also the X800 and P800 which are the Xbo and PS3/4 variants - it doesn't matter which one you get, the only difference is which cords come with the thing.
This set is great because it uses a receiver, and you can plug whatever the hell you want into it. I've got my PC, TV, and Switch sound all going into the same headset this way. It's wonderful.
