Really, to get started with journaling at a very base level, not much is needed. The way I started was very simple.
• College-ruled composition notebook
• A decent pen.
However, I understand a comp. notebook isn't best tool to use, so instead you could buy these run-of-the-mill-but-better-quality notebooks I got recently off Amazon. Much, much better than 50 cent Staples notebooks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076DBQDMT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_PPYNBbGCSA9QQ
I've never been one to decorate so my notebook only has a name on it. But, I figure a pack of markers, some stickers, and some creativity can go a long way. There isnt really a product (that I can think of, at least) that really promotes journaling aside from personal drive and motivation. As far as making handwriting pleasurable, the knack for writing will come naturally as you write more often. I used to hate it in grade school, but through the end of high school and college as I began to write more entries, writing just began to feel good. I don't know why; I just got used to it.
You just need the desire to write and to express yourself on the page. There's no miracle method which will force you to write. That has to come from you.
Lemome should really pay me by now because I can't stop recommending their journals here. I bought them using this amazon listing without realizing the brand. No idea if this listing will always yield Lemomes, though. If you look it up on Amazon and check the real branded listings, the notebooks are a bit pricier than this but still on the less expensive side.
The paper is 120 gsm and delightfully thick without being cardstocky. I don't get much ghosting and definitely nothing approaching bleeding. I mostly use Staedlers and Tombows but I have been using cheapo disposable Pilot fountain pens as well and have had good results, no bleeding. My one gripe is that the pages are cream-colored and not white.
I absolutely love and use the following from Amazon. Have used them for nearly 10 years for work/meeting note taking with fountain pen ink. Doesn’t matter what kind it takes it. It’s thick premium paper and works great.
Comes in a two pack. Don’t use anything else.
I’ve used these for years from Amazon. Great size, really thick nice paper. No bleed through at all. Cheap in price for a two pack, but it’s great quality for me.
I get them from Amazon so I double checked to be sure. I said Moleskin because thst is what I typed in to find these. Been using these for several years and like them a lot. It does say premium thick paper though so that is probably a key.

I was a little off but I own four of these and adore them. They are high quality and the paper is great. I have a heavy hand when I write but pens never bleed through! Give them a shot :)
