If you're gonna go BIFL on French Press, gotta go with the Frieling stainless steel. Thing is built like a Sherman tank, looks elegant enough to be used as a water pitcher (I have the brushed version) at a nice dinner and cleans really easily. Stainless is much easier to clean, stays hotter/colder longer and I think looks better. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for any other FP on the market.
Recommend it to everyone, and it's cheaper on Amazon ($70) than usual.
I went with a 23 oz Frieling french press. Sometimes you can catch them on sale, but I think I paid about $75 for mine. The only complaint I have heard about this particular brand is that the screen is not fine enough for some people, but it hasn't bothered me at all.
We bought it for grilling meat, but french press coffee is ideally brewed between 195ºF-205ºF, so we started using it for that as well. It definitely effects the taste.
We use it with our BIFL french press ... also good for tea!
I'm also on board with Frieling. I lived in a cold drafty house and got used to the coffee losing a lot of heat while brewing in a glass Bodum. I got this stainless steel, double walled one from Frieling, and it stays hot hot hot.
